    The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Now that Bethesda has decided to move on from Skyrim development, there's a new release coming that packages Skyrim and all its DLC into one package. The Skyrim Legendary Edition will release on June 4 for $59.99 on PC, PS3, and XBox 360. If you haven't visited Skyrim before, this is the best way to play it.

The Bethesda team has announced today that they're moving on from Skyrim, with the exception of minor updates as needed. There's a new big project (I'm hoping for Fallout 4) that's gotten to the point where it needs the team's full attention.

I was personally hoping for at least one more kickass DLC, but I can't complain. I've put hundreds of hours into Skyrim, and I've certainly gotten my money's worth.

It's sad though, that there won't be any more content for what may be my favorite game of all time.

Ah well, time to start a new character!

Over the last few weeks I have heard a fair amount of praise about the Skyrim score but only just recently picked up the 4CD set. Over the last week or so I have been listening to Jeremy Soule's score and needed to say a few words about it.

If you love ambient, earthy scores weaved with the right amount of classical you need to pick this up. The song featured in the video above "Masser" showcases how elegantly Soule weaves various elements to immerse you in Skyrim's Nordic ascetic.

Often times with other game scores I come to a song that is thematically out of place or more pomp and show than substance. The Skyrim score contains songs that are woven elegantly together in a way that start to... [Read All]

"In a continued effort to support our PC fanbase, we’ve released a Steam update to Skyrim’s (free) HD Texture Pack. In addition to high resolution textures in the main game, the update adds improved textures for Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and the newly-released Dragonborn.

Before you download, make sure your PC has the horsepower to support it. Make sure your system requirements exceed Skyrim’s recommended specs before attempting to install, and that your PC has Windows Vista/7, a minimum of 4GB of system RAM, and a DirectX 9.0c compatible NVIDIA or AMD ATI video card with at least 1 GB of RAM and the latest drivers.
    "

Its pretty crazy how large game updates are getting. I seriously recommend you... [Read All]

Bethesda just announced a new expansion for Skyrim called "Dragonborn." As always it will be released on XBox 360 first for a mere 1600 Microsoft points($20).

The trailer boasts Dragon mounts and a new quest line for Skyrim where you find out your not the only Dragonborn in Skyrim. From the video I couldn't tell if this new Dragonborn is evil or not? I guess he/she must be because they wear some pretty scary armor. That said, it could be like the Arnold Schwarzenegger & Danny Devito film Twins. Plenty of "Ill be back" references and your Dragonborn twin yelling loudly.

That or something about evil resurrected and a bunch of stuff hanging in the balance or whatever.

Not to say it won't be... [Read All]

I think I heard about "I used to be an adventurer..." before I had a clue what Skyrim was. But now... what if?

This comic gets at a little problem I have in games now.... Must loot every corpse... Must collect every item. I haven't played many hours of Skyrim but mu chest in Breezehome is already quite full. In Borderlands 2 even though I have full ammo I still open each case, locker and ammo container... Then again Eridium can be anywhere.

How much do you hoard in you games? Or do you breeze by corpses and chests with ease?

I was thinking something today I wanted to hear your thoughts on.

Skyrim or Fallout 3? I have been making my way a bit at a time through Skyrim and whereas its a great game, I think I liked Fallout 3 a bit better. At least, so far I do.

Skyrim has had some amazing moments, but I guess I prefer the end of the world games where you are born in a vault.

That said, what did you like better Skyrim or Fallout?

Fun is learning the ROH in your FUS from the Greybeards. Awesome is learning how to run really fast as a Dragon Shout and then using it right away. Rad is entering a sweet catacomb and having some statues rise out of the water.

The above screen grab is right out of a sweet moment where I entered the "final chamber" of a dungeon trying to find something for the Greybeards. As I entered the room statues rose up from the water and I was really having fun with it. Bethesda is good at crafting those moments and I sure felt that at times with Fallout 3.

That said, I made the tough choice the other day to travel WITH A COMPANION! Seriously though, I want to be the loner in Skyrim. I want to travel... [Read All]

Skyrim Hearthfire, the newest DLC. I don't know if I'm so crazy about this one, but will probably check it out at some point.

After completing a ton of quests in Whiterun I decided to pick up the main quest and make my way to the place to meet up with the Greybeards in the mountains. From Whiterun to the destination it looked pretty close but as I made the journey I realized how far things in Skyrim can be. The journey took me over grasslands, rivers a bridge and to a town at the summit of the 7,000 steps. The 7,000 steps leading to the area the Greybeards inhabit.

Ivarstead is the town at the mountain summit and I talked to a few people and rested up at the Inn. There were a few town quests, one being to check out a haunted shack at the edge of town that I haven't started yet. Hanging out in these small towns is... [Read All]

As I continue my adventures as the Dragonborn, the things I can do in Skyrim become more and more epic. Somehow I missed that Bethesda released a free DLC update to Skyrim that adds high res textures to the game. I knew community members had high res packs but finding out about Bethesda's drew me to the immediate download and install.

After starting the game after the DLC was installed I noticed right away, the game looks even more incredible. It shows the game was "mastered" with consoles in mind and the high res. textures really make the game feel more organic. The swords and game environments seem less pixelated and edgy. Plus with lighting turned up, the game has a softer glow to it in... [Read All]

Decided to treat myself to playing more Skyrim this evening. As I was walking around I noticed a Dragon flying around and breathing fire on something so I decided to investigate. I snuck up on the Dragon and started attacking it and then I was dead. Apparently something one hit killed me and as my death animation was happening I noticed the club of a Giant. Apparently the Dragon was fighting a Giant. I had saved right before I came up on the Dragon so I held back and watched the fight. I snapped a few screen shots and the Dragon was easily bested by the Giant. Not wanting to waste the Dragon's death, I snuck up and nabbed the Dragon's scales, bones and then nabbed its soul. After that I... [Read All]
