I saw this video last night, and today I read about some ways they're changing the game for consoles. Some of this looks really interesting. A new dodge mechanic will change how you approach battles to some extent, allowing you to dodge out of attacks easily. This adds a little more hack'n'slash skill to the battles. Some camera angle and perspective changes here and there seem to give you a better view of what's going on. And especially the loot changes-- since there's no Auction House on the console versions, they've made it more likely that the gear you find will be for your character.

What do you think? Will you dive back into the game on a new platform? I was hesitant at first, but I... [Read All]

    Diablo III
Many people played Diablo 3, and then for whatever reason hit a wall where it was no longer enjoyable. For most, it seems, that wall was Inferno. Back in the day the increase in difficulty when moving to Inferno was so high, people just stopped. But there have been many patches over the time Diablo 3 has been out, which have added some interesting and fun features. If you've been wondering if it's time to come back, here's what you may have missed.

    General improvements
First off, and probably most importantly, things have been smoothed out. Some skills that were lacking have been buffed, some that were way overpowered have been scaled back. The difficulty curve when going into Inferno has... [Read All]

Blizzard's art team released 4 new desktop backgrounds for Diablo III today. If you are looking to amp up your desktop's hell factor, I seriously recommend checking them out.

The offer some seriously epic resolutions so you can see all the blood in oh so crisp and savory HD.

Diablo III recently released version 1.8, so I thought I'd pop in and see what's up.

The auction houses are offline. Apparently yesterday there was a major gold duping glitch that people think will essentially ruin the economy, so that's awesome. This didn't bother me tonight, because it's been so long since I really played the game that I honestly have no clue what good gear is anymore, so I certainly wasn't about to buy any.

This patch smoothed out a lot of the problems a lot of people have with the game. I played through the last couple of quests of act 1 Inferno, which is so far as far as I've gotten. I can certainly see the progress. The trash mobs feel a lot stronger, and the elite... [Read All]

Blizzard opened PS3 Diablo III pre-orders with a wearable helmet that allows you an XP boost. This is only available to PS3 owners and not transferable to your PC game.

"Wearable at level 1, the Infernal Helm confers a +EXP bonus to help you whip your new PlayStation characters into tip-top shape. Plus, it looks sweet as hell (pun intended) on all five mortal heroes of Sanctuary—Witch Doctor, Barbarian, Demon Hunter, Wizard, and Monk. Keep in mind that the redeemable key for the Infernal Helm, which you will find in your preordered copy of Diablo III on launch day, will apply to all of your PS3 characters, but will not transfer to any PC characters."

I am really interested in playing the... [Read All]

"For the last 15 years, as I served as the constant whipping post for thousands...nay, MILLIONS of pathetic worms who have plundered my depths and banished me and my brothers to the soulstones time and time again! NO LONGER! On May 15 in the year of the Panda, 2012, my plan to claim victory over the Nine Hells and the High Heavens has come to fruition! Behold, the chronicle of my journey thus far!"

This might be known to some of you already, but I just found "Diablo's" review of Diablo III on Amazon. Its really funny and sums up the initial problems with the game.

"Day 1: Millions of hapless insects gathered with their gold in hand and their steel drawn as they prepared to storm my... [Read All]

"For those who wish to test their mettle against fellow Nephalem, your time has come. Players will now be able to battle one another in a new zone designed specifically for this style of combat called "The Scorched Chapel." This zone can be accessed by speaking with Nek the Brawler in any of the four Act hubs, and supports 2 to 4 players in a Free-For-All format."

Been really interested in Brawling coming to Diablo III and as such @panickedthumb and I updated our games and headed in to BRAWL just a bit ago! I came to the fight with the level 56 Witch Doctor and he had a level 60 Monk. His Monk kicked me into the dirt each battle hands down. Still, it was fun to enter the new Brawl graveyard... On dueling:

"Here's a quick rundown of how dueling will work in Diablo III as well as some insight into our design philosophy for the system.

    How it Works:

    • To duel another player, you’ll need to speak with Nek the Brawler at the inn in New Tristram.

    • Speaking with Nek will take you and your party to the Scorched Chapel, a new zone designed specifically for player combat

    • This zone has custom geometry and features four different areas: the church, the graveyard, the river, and the lake

    • Dueling currently supports up to four players in a Free-For-All format, which means you can battle your friends either one-on-one, three-player FFA, or a full four-player FFA

    • If you die in the dueling world, you will... [Read All]

Looks like we are getting a pretty interesting update to Diablo III early next year.

"First and foremost, if our original goal was to support dueling, then we're not achieving that goal very well if we don’t actually give players a way to duel in-game. You’ve been asking us for dueling for a while, so we're going to add it to the game soon. Dueling is currently scheduled to release with patch 1.0.7, which is set to hit sometime after the new year. (We'll be providing details about that feature very soon, so stay tuned.)"

Blizzard didn't ship PvP with Diablo III and instead opted to release it as an update after the launch of the game. It doesn't seem like progress on PvP is going well and... [Read All]

"In July 2012 at Dublin's National Concert Hall, Anúna performed two pieces, "Black Soulstone" and "Incantation" written by US composer Russell Brower from the soundtrack Diablo III. Soloists are Lucy Champion, Miriam Blennerhassett, Rory Musgrave and Michael McGlynn."

This is a very good performance version of Russel Browder's great soundtrack. The Diablo 3 Soundtrack tops my list of great video game soundtracks to come out over the last few years and this choir sings these songs well.

It takes a bit to get started so skip ahead 35 seconds if you so desire.

A few days ago I finally made it to Hell in Diablo 3 with "SnuggyBunny" my Witch Doctor. Beating Diablo in Nightmare wasn't too difficult. I sort of stopped going to the Auction House and only used the gear from game drops until I recently picked it back up. I think that made the game a bit harder than it would have been otherwise. After I started over in act one in Hell I decided to hit up the Auction House to see what kinds of things I could buy with all the gold I had. I had about 250k gold so I figured spending 50k on a weapon would get me something better than I had.

I had a two handed axe that hit for about 98. My total damage with modifiers and such was about 1200 damage. I found an... [Read All]

It looks like more people have recently gotten Blizzard's ban hammer for playing Diablo III on Linux, through Wine. Wine is a compatibility layer that enables you to run Windows executables on Linux, some with better results than others. Diablo III works perfectly through Wine, but the evidence is mounting that playing it this way results in Blizzards anti-botting measures thinking you're doing something more nefarious.

What's worse is that they won't engage in discussion about it. You pay $60 for a game that you're required to play online, and you can get banned for doing something that they say is fine. Unfortunately the US doesn't have any potent consumer protection, so they can pretty... [Read All]

    Um... duh...

Why don't they make a DotA mode for Diablo3? It would take about 2 seconds of coding, and about 3 months of balancing, but it could easily be done, and I'm sure it would be fun. Blizzard kind of invented DotA, I'm surprised they haven't done it yet.
