scrypt: I never finished BL2, and I feel a little ashamed of that. Spent so much time in the first game, that I got a little burned out when it came to the second. I don't know. This expansion, however, looks mighty awesome. May have to dive back in.

jdodson: Yeah, I chip at it a bit at a time but largely I find the main campaign to be way too long between interesting bits. The writing is good, but I think the smaller bite sized DLC packs might be more my style too.

That said, perhaps another reason is I crushed so hard on the first game and second one was essentially the same kind of thing with better writing.

Anyways, Dragon Keep looks good and I want to give it a spin at some point.

scrypt: That's exactly it! The first game was amazing, fresh and new. Played through several times, with multiple characters, and sometimes would just grind for weapons. Then the second came, and I was really into it, but lost interest somewhere along the way, and couldn't get back in.

jdodson: Right. I chip away on BL2 a bit at a time because it fun in bursts but, yeah it doesnt have me like BL1 did. Kind if been wanting to go back and play the original lately too.

WhiteboySlim: I can't say I've ever seen one of those psycho guys and said to myself, "Gee, I wish I could play as one of them!"

However, after looking through the skill trees, he does seem to be an interesting character and I would like to give him a try at some point. However, I won't be picking up the new class at this time. I might wait for the price to drop. I'm already going to be getting the next expansion as part of my season pass and I still have yet to finish the 3rd DLC, so I have plenty BL2 to keep me busy for now. Plus the idea of going through the main storyline with a new character again is not that appealing. :\

Adym: Watching the video, that's almost exactly how I normally play first person shooters, so I'm interested in Krieg.

I still don't own BL2, but maybe at the next big sale I'll pick it up.

jdodson: @adym Id wait till the Game of the Year or as you say, a sale. Reason is the base game + all the DLC will run you about $100 so waiting is good :D

jdodson: Yeah, this is pretty funny. But at least we know what it is now. And yeah, this looks pretty cool.

Travis: I have to wonder if they announced it today just because of the accidental tweet. I'd come up with some conspiracy theory about the tweet and subsequent removal being intentional if it weren't announced only hours later.

jdodson: That could be. But they also get nearly every game site talking about the next BL2 expansion regularly. Not to say this couldn't be some attempt in that direction.

Either case, BL2 DLC! I wonder, is this the last BL2 DLC we will see now?

jdodson: Not part of the Season Pass? Huh. I don't know if I would have done that but there we are.

The guy looks amazing and I can't wait to get all the DLC in one shot. Kind of held off on the season pass, now it seems like ill wait a bit longer for all of it wrapped up together.

Travis: The new character isn't, but the new campaign DLC is. I'm editing my post to reflect that.

And that's the same way Gaige worked, but if you pre-ordered the game you got her for free. They were pretty up-front with the season pass that it would be for four campaign addons, so I hold no ill will against them for that.

Also editing the post to add in some news about the loot chest, which looks beautiful.

jdodson: Fair point on the DLC, but.. I don't know on one hand YAY more Borderlands 2. On the other hand Yay the game costs about a hundred bucks to get everything.

Again, cool to hear about more stuff for sure.

Travis: Yeah, I've been kinda hating DLC in general lately. I've pretty much decided to wait until almost everything is released to get back into BL2 (at least my main character), because my Assassin's Creed 3 mode, for example, has passed and even though the new Tyranny of King George DLC interests me, I can't get motivated to play it.

I can't hate it too much, since this *is* all stuff developed post-release, and I don't really feel like my $60 was wasted on just the game itself. I just almost wish that we would get everything and then it's done with the exception of major expansion packs, like the Shivering Isles for Oblivion. The periodically released smaller DLCs just don't hold my interest as much.

jdodson: I used to wait to buy this stuff until the GoTY was $60. I might consider doing that again for certain stuff again. For some stuff, I totally am, like Max Payne and Farcry 3.

jdodson: Oh and Dishonored. That game looks wicked.

jdodson: Wow that looks pretty awesome. For some reason as I watched the video when the hulking things silhouette was shown I somehow was reminded of the Toxic Avenger.

jdodson: They really have kept on top of handing out dem Golden Keys and now this cool shotgun. Gearbox is doing pretty well here.

Travis: Nice, I still have like 42 keys, I think I've used 10 or so. I'll have to go through these tonight.

Travis: It's very hard not to think of Diablo and Borderlands similarly. Take Diablo, make it first person, put it in a futuristic setting, and you have something close to Borderlands. A few more tweaks, and you're done.

Also, all the scanning in the world was never able to get that QR code to work. I haven't done that mission yet, but there's pizza all over Moxxi's place anyway. Nice to know what the reference is.

jdodson: Borderlands is similar to Diablo but somehow I love it more than Diablo 3. I just think its more akin to my style.

How far are you in Borderlands 2?

Travis: I have a level 10 Gaige and level 14 Maya.

jdodson: 16 Gunzerker, 11 Siren, 11 Mecromancer, 7 Axton

jdodson: I think I agree with you on gun type. For me it wasn't game breaking, but it wasn't as cool as before in the way you describe. It just seems strange to have all fire damage guns be of a certain type only.

Can you re-play most of the higher level bosses again?

Jacob_Richardson: you can replay every boss in the game again. This goes for every part in the game too. If at any time you want to go face the first boss again. You can just go back to the area their in and they respawn.

edit: Also on gun type. I just want to reiterate. It WAS a good idea on their part but again. They needed to make them unique with completely NEW variables. Not old ones that already existed. It got rid of gun types that already existed. There are more guns but in reality it seems limited like theres even less. Hopefully they combine the old and the new in a borderlands 3.

jdodson: Guns: that makes sense.

Boss Spawns: One of the biggest let downs of the original Borderlands what that I couldn't come back and re-play the rack hive boss fight in the main campaign.

Jacob_Richardson: Ha I totally agree. Me and my cousin are heavy heavy borderlands players. We both talked about that same fight numerous times while playing through borderlands 2. He looked over my review after I wrote it and totally agrees with it all. I wrote it based on conversations we had as we played through the whole thing. We always talked about what could be better in certain areas. There's just not a lot of co op games left so critiquing the ones left is important.

jdodson: I agree. Diablo 3 has co-op and its a fun part of that game and BL2 shines with it.

More co-op the better.

Travis: Interesting. I wonder how well it will control. I was quite impressed with the RAGE rail shooter for iOS, surprisingly.

WhiteboySlim: You know I was hoping the announcement was going to be some new Borderlands 2 DLC. I mean it's been like a week since the last DLC so I figure we're probably do for some more. :P

WhiteboySlim: I bought the season pass, but I haven't installed the DLC yet. I think I'm going to hold off on this until I finish the main game first.

jdodson: But yeah, I got GOTY on PS3 and the DLC was on disc. I waited until way later to install it, just wanting to go through the game proper first. Close to the end I installed it for fun.

Jacob_Richardson: Ah well then I'm right with you guys in that respect. I am indeed installing it after I beat the game. However, that happened last night (on playthrough 2). My duo character of zero with my cousin having maya just hit level 50 yesterday. We didn't cheat or rush through or anything. We just played a lot.

Maybe not spoilers, but yeah, how was the ending as compared to BL1 :D
