World of Warcraft is the king of MMO's and will continue it's reign for quite some time and they just changed something that will keep it on top for the considerable future. In the past if you wanted to get into World of Warcraft you could pay the subscription and download the base game and play. Thing is there have been 7 total expansions for the game post launch and if you want to experience all the content you need to acquire (usually buy) all of the expansions. It makes it hard to get in and play with your friends if you friend new to the game doesn't have all the content but Blizzard just made it a lot easier.

Get Back To Work - The New Warcraft Film Trailer

In 2006 Blizzard said it was working on plans for a Warcraft film. In 2013 Duncan Jones was attached to direct and filming started January of 2014. We got a few second trailer tease last week and today at Blizzcon Blizzard unveiled the first full Warcraft trailer. The movie seems to be a retelling of the events in Warcraft: Orcs and Humans with the Orcs leaving their dying world Draenor in search of a new home. There is some speculation as to if this is a standalone film or the first in a series of films that catalog the history of Azeroth. I imagine if the film does well we will undoubtedly see more but right now I am uncertain how well it will do at the box office.

Looking for Group Documentary Catalogs 10 Years of WoW

Since Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos I have been a fan of Blizzard Collectors Editions. The modern incarnations come with several documentary shorts on the making of the game and I really love watching those after I complete the main story. Recently Blizzard celebrated 10 years of World of Warcraft and to help ring in the year, created an hour long documentary "Looking for Group."

So if you have every run with the Tauren in Thunder Bluff or swam with the Undead in Stranglethorn, peep the documentary above, you know.... for the horde.

Blizzard Launches New Web Reality Show, Azeroth Choppers

Blizzard is a company like few others and are showing that style in it's latest foray, Azeroth Choppers. Azeroth Choppers is a reality TV web show focusing on the Horde and Alliance building competing motorcycles. The first episode is pretty interesting and ends on a typically reality TV cliffhanger. Whereas the geek in me likes the premise of the show I was really turned off by the reality TV aspect of it. The ending cliffhanger seems invented and kind of broke some of the magic.

Emailed A Free WoW Battle Chest

Recently I made it to Hell mode in Diablo 3 and a night or so later I got an email from Blizzard saying this:

"You've proven your valor in the battle for Sanctuary in Diablo III. Now take your skills to Azeroth with a FREE digital copy of World of Warcraft Battle Chest, which includes 30 days of game time, The Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King expansion packs."

I don't think it had anything to do with getting to Hell, though I guess they may have some threshold for it. I got that email yesterday as well.

I probably won't give it a shot, with all the other things I have to play at the moment. Though if you can start that 30 days whenever you want, and you don't have to start it immediately upon activating the freebie, then I might.

The Starter Edition and this 30 day eval are different. The Starter Edition has no time limit and is separate. I would just play the Starter and then the 30 day if you are more inclined to continue.

No I mean the Battle Chest has a limit. If you don't activate it soon it expires. Does your 30 day eval start with activating it or when you start playing? Because I'd like to activate it just to have it and start playing when I'm ready.

Right I knew that. Just wondering when the free month *started*-- whether it was when you activate the battle chest or when you start playing-- but (unless you've played WoW since you activated that) it looks like it starts when you activate it.

That makes sense, yeah seems they time limit the 30 days to have people start it up now. Makes sense, I don't need to play it right now and if I want getting a 90 day card isn't hard or expensive.

I played WoW a bunch. The Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King kept me going for a while, but I dropped out before Cataclysm came out.

I had no idea another another expansion was coming out until I saw a Kung Fu Panda commercial, that ended up being a WoW commercial?!? Mists of Pandaria? What the heck?

It might be drawing me back... thankfully my computer can't handle it, so it'll be a while before I lose myself to it, but I'm definitely interested.

Anyone else picking it up right away?

This expansion really interests me and I am not a WoW player. They add a kind of pokemon mini game to it, plus I really like the look of Pandara. I dig the whole dark game thing, but I enjoy bright open worlds too. WoW had that, but maybe I just started as a Undead and... Wait I did :)

That said, the Undead area has its bright places and it was fun. I just can't get around a sub...

Is GW2 better than WOW? That is like asking the question is Torchlight 2 better than Diablo 3. Both are great games that are similar but everyone has their bias and you then can ask the question what coffee is the best and you will get different responses.

Mist is looking to be a fun expansion. The keep claiming it will get back to the original WOW roots of exploring and Horde v Alliance conflict.

There are many new mini games as Jon talked about Pokemon. If that wasn't enough there will be a type of Farmville with the Tillers faction. There is already a Plants v Zombies in the game.

Cataclysm revamped the Old World in a huge way. The 1-60 leveling is by far the best it has ever been. However the 80-85 content there are many opinions on this and mine is I am glad it is over. I am not going to make a huge post in that regards.

Kung-Fu Panda meets WOW we shall see but from the test I have seen and the feed back I have read this should be good.

And Jon I am sorry but when WOW is under 2Mil subs I am sure they will make it free. Until then 15$ a month.
