RAGE is a groundbreaking first-person shooter set in the not-too-distant future after an asteroid impacts Earth, leaving a ravaged world behind. You emerge into this vast wasteland to discover humanity working to rebuild itself against such forces as raider gangs, mutants, and the Authority – an oppressive government regime that has a special interest in you in particular.

If you have the bandwidth for a whopper of a file, 35 GB, you can download the tools id used to create RAGE and its expansion, The Scorchers. What kind of mods do you hope to see?

Greetings Friends of the Ghost,

You may remember our Borderlands 2 Haiku Contest & Torchlight 2 contest from last year. The new year is upon us and its time to bring you the next best thing. I love Rage. Recently jdodson completed the new Rage expansion: The Scorchers and we want to share the love with all you awesome people. The game is beautiful and a really exciting addition to an already great game. A bit about what to expect with The Scorchers:

I finally beat The Scorchers. Its not the longest bit of DLC ever but its fun as hell. Its also pretty as anything I have seen in a game so far. I took a ton of screen shots of the jaw dropping visuals and will link to the really impressive ones in this post.

I would say that each level in The Scorchers is different in visual and stylistic tone. You go from a cave level, to a new epic Mutant Bash TV level to a killer Warehouse level to the last series of sewers to the final Scorcher end base that is a kind of Pyramid/Mayan themed area. The Scorchers ends with an epic boss battle and it wasn't entirely obvious to me how to win at first so I will help you out a... Read All

During the Steam holiday sale I picked up Rage: The Scorchers. I liked Rage quite a bit and I am pretty excited to check out the new stuff. I am not finished with it and will periodically post about how my experiences are going with it.

When I played Rage the first time I noticed some areas that seemed like they should have allowed you some access. Like an area at the far end of Haggar Territory where there was a settlement of people, if you go a bit further there is a huge installation you couldn't go in. I figured it would open up at some quest point, but it didn't. There was also a Casino in Wellspring that was closed that you couldn't get in. Always... Read All

Totally excited for this new Rage expansion and the official press drop illustrates why:

"Battle an all-new maniacal bandit clan, wreak havoc with new brutally efficient weapons and explore undiscovered areas in RAGE’s new official add-on pack, RAGE: The Scorchers. Fight alongside new allies to thwart the Scorcher clan’s deadly plot to destroy the Wasteland.

The add-on pack also includes ‘Ultra-Nightmare’, a new high difficulty mode, as well as an ‘Extended Play’ option that allows you to play past the original ending of the game - giving you the opportunity to finish collecting items and achievements.
"

I appreciate the Extended Play option as it allows you to... Read All

A few days ago I finally completed the single player campaign of Rage. I had a roller coaster experience with the game and recently just picked it back up to complete it. I would say if you want a good shooter with plenty of car combat, Rage is your jam. The game isn't perfect but the shooter aspects of it are very good.

After starting it up for the first time on PC I was blown away with how awesome the graphics were. The story was compelling and I really enjoyed the voice acting of John Goodman as your main contact for the first 30% of the game(he vanishes after that never to be heard from again). In fact, the first 40% of the game is paced very well and... Read All

According to a recent Tweet by iD's John Carmack it looks like the Rage modding tools will be released really soon. Interested in seeing how this breathes some life back into Rage. I was really excited about this game and it would be awesome to see what the community can do with this.

I think one of the best parts of Rage was the split-screen co-op "Legends of the Wasteland." I also really liked the death match car combat as well. To the end of the game it got a bit stale, but overall I rather enjoyed Rage.

I think I'm about halfway through Rage, and I have learned three things.

* Don't trust game demos.
* Don't trust gamers.
* Don't trust reviewers.

I played the demo and decided to skip it, but decided to buy it on a whim and I am having so much fun with this game. Apparently the PC version was buggy as hell at launch, but I have yet to see a single bug.

I know one of the big complaints people have is that the graphics weren't great, but honestly I've been blown away by the graphics a few times. If you zoom in on a wall it's going to look bad, sure, but in general gameplay the environment is fantastic.

The AI is pretty good, the enemies will react to changes in the... Read All

A few days after Rage shipped I saw a video about someone finding a secret Wolfenstein and Doom room. I found the Wolf room in Rage and a few days ago found the Doom room. The above video outlines how to find it, but I snapped a few pics of my own:

Basically I remembered that someone, in some level, hit some keyboards and they made a sound. Hit enough and a Demon made a noise and then you opened some door and there was the Doom room. Recently I made it to the Gearhead level saw a keyboard, hit it and it made a noise. I hit enough and a Demon made a noise. I beat the level and on my way out the level I... Read All

Posted that ive been playing through Rage in my spare cycles. I have spent some time in game beefing up my Caprino. I slapped some rocket launchers to it, won a sick spiky spoiler on front, got some spiked blades and upgraded the engine. Its pretty fierce out in the wasteland and when I get into a fight with some bandits I turn on the shields and can blow them straight to The Underdome.

Here is what my ride looks like as I am driving it:

Oh and the pictures above are the actual in game shots of me driving and standing in front of my car.

I wonder when Doom 4 is coming out? Finding this is in Rage made we wonder.

After pre-ordering Rage for $60 and playing it on the PS3 I was a bit disappointed with the single player. Loading took way too long, often I would die and have to re-load back an hour of gameplay. The game was frustrating on the console. I found that the legends of the wasteland was fun for co-op, really fun, but the single player wasn't.

Recently I got it on the PC and I have to say its MUCH MUCH more fun than the console counterparts. Quicksave exists by hitting F5. The game is easier with a mouse which means I can actually hit things I shoot at. The graphics are nicer and the texture pop-in is less noticeable. I'm not entirely sure of all f the reasons... A friend and I have been really enjoying the Rage co-op "Legends of the Wasteland." I want to write a longer post sometime about all my thoughts on Rage's single player campaign.

Until then, if you have the game I seriously recommend playing through "Legends of the Wasteland" with a friend. Its pretty fun and varied as far as levels go. We hit a point where the levels really ramp up in normal mode. I forget the level name, but its essentially the Mutant Bash TV level backwards. Very hard and we will have to adapt our gameplay quite a bit to beat it.
