Zelda II: The Adventure of Link

Released on June 4, 2007 by Nintendo

Developed by Nintendo

Link returns to Hyrule to search for the Triforce and to awaken Zelda from an endless sleep. Embark on a quest to find the Triforce of Courage and save Hyrule from ruin. Learn magic spells, talk to people in towns to get clues, collect items to increase your power and explore six palaces where the underlings of the evil Ganon await you. This sequel to the Adventure classic uses a side-scrolling visual engine unique to the series for more technical combat, and features more in-depth world roaming as Link encounters townsfolk while on his quest.

Games Done Quick at this years Twitch Con was a weekend of incredible runs and as I've been catching up watching the runs I missed I wanted to share with you this speedrun of Zelda II: The Adventure of Link by mustbetuesdaymusic and megmacattack. The run clocks in at 1:17:12 making this a quite speedy run of Adventure of Link but one difference is that instead of hearing the in-game audio mustbetuesdaymusic plays the score on his piano for the entire run. Come for The Adventure of Link and stay for the sweet piano ballads during the entire run.

jdodson gives this a solid "Rad" on the Ghost Scale
This is fun, with very few issues, and is well worth your time.

For the most part i've decided to stop buying a lot of new games and focus on playing through my backlog for the next year. It's still something i'm working out the final details on (how many games to limit myself to purchase next year, if any at all) and what games i'll play in some kind of order. Now that I have a son my time is limited and i'd like to spend it the best I can and since I have games i've never played now seems like a good time to do that. One such game is Zelda II: The Adventure of Link a game that before I picked got it with the NES Classic I've never owned before. I've played it a handful of times and always thought it was an interesting game in... Read All

Summer Games Done Quick was an amazing event this year packed with so many runs I couldn't watch them all. I've been slowly watching the remaining runs I missed over time and have the last "best of" batch to share.

Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link by Error72 in 49:31 is embedded above. Adventures of Link is a great game but an odd one out compared to the more traditional top down retro Zelda games. 49.31 is Error72's personal best and a minute away from the world record for Any % No Scroll lock.

Luigi's Mansion by HDlax1 in 57:25 is a great run to watch if you've never actually played the game before like me. Luigi's Mansion was a GameCube launch title and gets a lot of... Read All

After searching for the last couple months to find a used NES Classic I finally found one. After scouring the local retro scene and Craiglist I finally just lucked into picking one up from someone at work that no longer wanted it. It's in great condition as it wasn't used much and it was quite a bit of fun to play this evening. Looks like there is a lot of choices for buying a second controller as well as controller cord extensions that are not too expensive. I decided to buy two cord extensions so if I get a SNES Classic and the cords are too short I can use them with it.

One thing I hope to do is write up a quick review for each of the games on the NES Classic and... Read All

Jack and Rich are back for a new episode of Previously Recorded covering the classic NES game Zelda II: The Adventures of Link. I owned the original Legend of Zelda and played it a ton as a wee lad. I never had Zelda II but did play it quite a few times with friends.

Did you play Zelda II and if so what were your memories of it?
