For me and my family, this game sold us the Super Nintendo. My parents were really impressed by the 16bit graphics and I think that convinced them to buy us one that Christmas.

If you love Super Mario World or have yet to play it, the Gaming Historian has a great video all about the game and it’s historic creation.2022-11-08T00:25:31Zjdodsontag:cheerfulghost.com,2005:Post/40732019-04-27T03:39:16Z2019-04-27T03:41:32Z/jdodson/posts/4073/watch-all-three-grandpoobear-s-speedrun-sessions-in-portlandWatch All Three GrandPooBear's Speedrun Sessions in Portland!

GrandPooBear is one of the best Mario Speedrunners in the world and he recently came to Portland to the Ground Kontrol Classic Arcade for his first ever Speedrun Sessions. He brought along Oatsngoats as well as Andy to speedrun Super Metroid and Link to the Past and I was able to make it to the event with some friends. In a nutshell, it was a really fun night and watching these events live has been one of my highlights in gaming. Poo closed the event to an incredibly warm audience that was whooping and cheering as he beat Grand Poo World 2, one of the hardest Kaizo Mario games i've ever seen.

I'm sharing Poo's Speedrun Session above for Grand Poo World 2 but I recommend you also watch Oats and Andys run link below.

Super Metroid 100% Oatsngoats: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PdRzZ5too_c

Link to the Past No Sword Andy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Go03qZCWDsw

I interviewed Poo before the event, I encourage you to check it out below.

https://cheerfulghost.com/jdodson/posts/4060/speedrun-sessions-is-coming-to-portland-my-interview-with-grandpoobear

Fun Fact: You can see Cheerful Ghost user Will Ball to the right of Spikevegeta (the guy in the Mega Man II shirt) in the YouTube screenshot before you hit the play button.2019-04-27T03:41:32Zjdodsontag:cheerfulghost.com,2005:Post/40592019-04-01T04:25:39Z2019-04-01T04:25:39Z/Travis/posts/4059/cheerful-ghost-radio-episode-53-the-lost-archives-radical-video-game-reviews-with-friends-extremeCheerful Ghost Radio Episode 53: The Lost Archives - RADICAL VIDEO GAME REVIEWS WITH FRIENDS EXTREME
Recently Jon was going through some old boxes in his attic and came across a very special tape, a recording of RADICAL VIDEO GAME REVIEWS WITH FRIENDS EXTREME from April 1992 where we review Super Mario World on the SNES!2019-04-01T04:25:39ZTravistag:cheerfulghost.com,2005:Post/36322018-02-14T03:26:59Z2018-02-14T03:29:52Z/jdodson/posts/3632/speedrunner-sethbling-explains-his-sub-1-minutes-super-mario-world-speedrunSpeedrunner SethBling Explains His Sub 1 Minute Super Mario World Speedrun

Speedrunner SethBling recently figured out the first sub 1 minute credits warp for Super Mario World and made a pretty detailed video explaining how it works. The Supaboy has a pretty large following of people that play SNES carts on the go and as such Hyperkin has refreshed the hardware with an all new Supaboy S. Sporting a larger screen, better form factor, improved speakers and the ability to play NTSC and PAL games the Supaboy S is an interesting way to play Super Nintendo games anywhere.

"Daily Dot: "Time to crack open your vintage game collection (that is, if you don't have a shrine to it in your living room already)."

Blunty: "This one also handles PAL cartridges - not just the NTSC that the original did. That's pretty exciting!"

The handheld Hyperkin SupaBoy S will play original SNES (NTSC AND PAL) and SFC cartridges on a built-in 4.3 inch LCD screen. It includes a D-pad and face buttons, as well as right and left shoulder buttons. The SupaBoy S also includes two front-loading ports that are compatible with full-size SNES-compatible controllers and an AV out. It allows up to two players to play the SupaBoy S on a regular TV screen. "

If you want another review of the Supaboy S, check out the one by Metal Jesus (may his name be praised) below:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-bzYo_wGfk2016-12-03T03:54:04Zjdodsontag:cheerfulghost.com,2005:Post/23852015-01-31T04:04:16Z2015-01-31T04:04:16Z/jdodson/posts/2385/super-mario-world-completed-in-3-07-new-world-recordSuper Mario World Completed in 3.07, New World Record

SethBling just posted the new world record for completing Super Mario World in an astonishingly quick 3 minutes and 7 seconds.
