Azurephile gives this a solid "Rad" on the Ghost Scale
This is fun, with very few issues, and is well worth your time.

I recently decided to start playing the Borderlands series after getting a good bundle on sale some time ago. The first game was ok. I got used to it and learned. It had fun and challenging moments, which were sometimes polar opposites. Still, I got a lot done and had some fun. So, I moved on to BL2, which immediately looked like a super sweet visual upgrade to the original game. It’s much more than that, though. The AI is better, there are more varieties of weapons, and many other improvements. BL2 is a true sequel and I think playing the first game and then the second made me appreciate them more.

Recently, I finished with BL2 and started playing the Pre-Sequel. At first, I was lost because I was used to playing a character that had an auto turret. So I initially had difficulty in choosing a character. I decided to go with the Jack body double. I wasn’t too happy with the action skill tree, but decided if I didn’t like it I could change at any time. I stuck with it and enjoyed it. In the first two games I primarily used shotguns, especially with fire or corrosive damage. However, in the PS, I used mostly lasers, especially with ice and corrosive damage. I really enjoyed freezing enemies and beating them to death or freezing them while they were airborne only to watch them come smashing down in pieces.

While checking out the DLC for BL2, I noticed I didn’t get some with my edition. Luckily, I realized I had some money in my steam wallet, so I now have all the DLC except for the $1 customization skins, etc. I might pop back in BL2 and see what the new-to-me DLC (Head hunter’s and Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade 2) has in store. I think it’s worth it. I’ve enjoyed this series more than I thought I would.

Curious when you complete the Pre-Sequel how long that took compared to Borderlands 2. Also curious which you prefer too when you're done w PS.

I finished the PS. I spent close to 100 hours in BL2 and about 40 on the PS. BL2 had more to do, I think the amount of hours spent is clear evidence of that. However, I really enjoyed those lasers in the PS, especially the freezing ones. I also miss the gravity difference sometimes, being able to jump higher and even "moon stomp" was fun. It's hard to pick a favorite between the two. I like them both better than the first game, which really wasn't bad. I did get the BL2 Headhunter DLC packs I was missing. They were cheap ($3/each), almost entirely brief, and almost entirely seasonal. They were enjoyable, but more quests would have made them more fun.

2K just released some shift codes for Saint Patricks Day in game skins for the PreSequel. https://twitter.com/Borderlands/status/842772535129260032

Interesting. I noticed Shift Codes as a feature, but I didn't go looking for them because I thought I read that they were only accessible during certain time frames. It's cool that they're still releasing some. Thanks!

You get a lot of cool loot from the chest.

Wow, I had no idea! Also, I only have 1 Golden Key, obviously I haven't used it yet.

I'm pretty sure I have 255 in each game, which is the max you can have. I got kinda bored opening the chest at a certain point when those codes were flying through.

Wow well thank you for the links! I've been saving my Golden Key. The game said you get better stuff when you're at a high level, so I thought I'd wait, maybe until I leveled to the max. Thanks a lot bro!

Yeah no prob! You get better stuff at a higher level, yeah, but I kinda figure using them to get to higher levels is better use of them since the BEST stuff is legendary and you can't get them from the chest anyway.

Wow, BL2 said I had collected 253 Golden Keys! I didn't pay attention to how much I got for the PS. There were skins and stuff, too. Thanks again!

I didn't know legendaries weren't in them. The point I am in both games is a good place and time to open some chests, or at least one. Almost every mission I have available now is with a big boss or some kind of rounded battle, so now is a good time for better gear. I'm not sure what level my characters are, I'm going to guess 30-40-ish. Thanks again!
