I actually really like this game, but I can't bring myself to play it a second time. The dialogue is painful to sit through. The actual writing isn't horrible, it's the little emote animations the character do in between everything (and I mean everything) they say. It takes half an hour to talk to an NPC and get your next quest. It's too bad too, because the rest of the game is actually really great.

I actually did not mind this about the game, what I hated was that when you chose all your actions if you had all your characters chose to attack the same guy, if the enemy died after just 2 actions your 3rd characters action would attack at the empty spot from where the defeated enemy just was, instead of automatically attacking the next enemy to the right or left as in most any other RPG, this really REALLY bugged me. But I have played through the game at least 2 or 3 times. The sequel is even twice as big and long as the first. I have yet to play the DS one.

I didn't remember the attacking thing! Wow, yeah that is terrible. Did they fix that in the squeals at all? I haven't tried any of them besides the first game.

That is so weird they didn't fix that. I can't imagine anyone felt that was a good design decision. It's annoying enough that I'm kinda glad I passed on the sequels. There's too many other good games out there I can spend time on :D
