A few Skyrim news bits I thought were worth sharing. Looks like Bethesda is starting to move its 1.7 update patch through the works. It will be released on XBox 360, PS3 and Steam and contains a few notable bits including stability fixes, general optimizations, bug fixes and updates the the dragon shouts via Kinect.

Also looks like later this week Bethesda will be talking about the release date for Dawnguard on PS3 and Steam. Looks like the XBox 360 exclusive lockout window is over and my guess is they will talk about it when they show next week at Quakecon. Well, not entirely my guess a few have speculated about it.

Oh and do phone solicitors bother you? Respond as a... Read All

Just started Skyrim. An hour in and I am enjoying the game(the shot above is from my current location in the game looking at a sweet mountain). Taking it slow. Following people, listening to them and getting all the story I can. After the initial Dragon attack I had to pick one of the guys to follow. Didn't know who was who so I picked the guy with long hair. After a dungeon crawl we emerged from the dungeon and I followed him to Riverwood village where we met his sister. He is part of the resistance to the Empire. I like the sound of joining them but I really don't know much about the war save Ulrich is their leader and they want Nordic freedom in Skyrim.

I talked to... Read All

A few quick Steam Workshop mods to get you started in Skyrim

I'm assuming some of you are playing Skyrim for the first time now, since it was half-off for the Steam Summer Sale. (How over budget are you all, by the way?)

While TES Nexus is still the best place to get mods, Steam Workshop makes it so easy to automatically download them and install them.

If you're in the market for a new house, there are plenty to choose from. My personal favorite is a Dwemer Airship called the Asteria. This player house is beautifully done, very detailed, and has plenty of storage space. My only qualm is the lack of usable bookshelves, but everything else makes up for it. ... Read All

Awesome video interview with Todd Howard on Skyrim's new expansion Dawnguard.

http://www.joystiq.com/2012/06/06/bethesdas-todd-howard-on-dawnguard-the-future-of-skyrim-and-s/

The release is June 26th but you can sign up for the XBox 360 beta now. I wasn't too interested in being a Vampire but Howard dropped that it will be taylored to people that want to play as a Vampire or a Vampire Hunter. Awesome! He also mentioned that some future DLC will be free as well because the game did so well.

Are you going to get Dawnguard? If you haven't played Skyrim yet will you? I have yet to pick it up and can't decide if I should get it on PS3 or PC.

Turns out I "beat" Skyrim a couple months ago! I've been playing side quests, and the story didn't feel like it was progressing anymore, so I googled "Skyrim Main Quest" to see where I was, I found out that it's already "over" lol. I'm still enjoying it, but kinda disappointed that that's all there is... totally looking forward to Dawnguard now! Just applied to get the Beta!

Skyrim! I'm sorry sorry I've been neglecting you! But I've more than made up for it this weekend so far.

I had gotten to what I thought was a lull in the game, and work/life got crazy busy, so I took a couple months off from gaming, but man, I picked it right back up Friday night and into Saturday morning!

This game just keeps getting better! Tons of story lines going on right now. I actually felt bad today because I'm an assassin (along with so many other things lol) and I was sent to kill this old guy. He knew I was coming, so he just turned around and let me kill him... so after I killed him I killed the guy who paid me to kill him ;)

I would totally get the Skyrim gameboy version. Gameboy might limit the size of the world.

Be interesting to see The Elder Scrolls in a mobile context.

Going to jam a few Elder Scrolls morsels into this post.

Bethesda just dropped the name of the new DLC for Skyrim called Dawnguard. From the Bethesda blog "Coming this summer to Xbox 360. More details at E3.." Kind of wish DLC like this wouldn't drop only on the XBox but that is often the way of things. Looks like we will find out more about this exclusive XBox DLC at E3.

In other elder scrolls news it looks like Morrowind turned 10 today and to celebrate Morrowind and Oblivion are half off on Steam this week. Awesome.

"A video of the Staff of Efflorescence, a part of the Skyrim mod Plant Trees. The staff allows you to "paint" flowers anywhere in Skyrim, immediately having a calming effect on the population. Enemies will cease attempting to destroy you in order to smell the flowers."

Too bad you can't paint flowers on people.

Playing through the game, and doing a lot of side quests, the game almost felt *too* big to do what I really wanted it to: a full scale war.

Now things have happened, and the war is in motion!

(Trying to not give any spoilers!)
