Diablo III: Reaper of Souls

Released on March 25, 2014 by Blizzard Entertainment

The Prime Evil rages within the Black Soulstone, its essence screaming for vengeance and release. Before the artifact can be sealed away forever, Malthael–Angel of Death–manifests in the mortal realms with a deadly new purpose: to steal the Black Soulstone and bend its infernal power to his will.

So begins the end of all things...

I've heard a lot of friends talk about buying Diablo III again on the Switch. I've also heard it's a great port and from Digital Foundry's review, it seems if you want to head back to Tristram with Deckard Cain this is a great way to do it. Plus with the new Diablo Immortal coming to mobile this seems like it might be the best way to play it on the go.

Last year the developers of Diablo celebrated it's big anniversary by adding a mode to the game where you could play it with pixelated graphics and take on a dungeon that felt eerily like the original game. Seems like Blizzard is bringing the even back starting now and ending on January 31st.

"Your journey begins on the trail of a group of mysterious cultists causing trouble in Sanctuary. As you hunt them down in Adventure Mode, you’ll uncover clues leading to a portal into Tristram’s past, and the terrifying darkness that took hold of the town so many years ago. . . .

Follow the clues and you’ll soon find yourself in a realm of glorious RetroVision, where an... Read All

Not only is the upcoming Diablo III 2.6.0 patch supporting the Necromancer DLC($15) but it's also dropping 3 new zones for free if you have Diablo III: Reaper of Souls. One of the three new zones is The Shrouded Moors and it's featured in the embedded clip above.

"Fetid swamps stretch beyond your vision, obscured by a dense fog that commands malevolent intent. Ancient structures long since abandoned are scattered across the sunken mire, and the absence of human activity might have something to do with an ongoing eerie sense of being watched. Still, despite the sense that something unnatural looms in the distance, the notion that treasure and glory may await tempts even... Read All

With the release of a new "reel" Blizzard announces the arrival of the Necromancer for next week. You can find more details in the link below. It appears that we still have a week before we can purchase the DLC. I was kind of surprised that it only costs $15. I was expecting maybe double that and I probably would have been happy to pay it. New Challenge Rifts are being added as well.

I've been looking forward to this since it's initial announcement. Since I've played through the campaign twice with each class, once for each gender, I feel some hesitation on starting a new champaign. But, of course there are new cinematics and voices, so I plan to start a new campaign... Read All

jdodson gives this a solid "Rad" on the Ghost Scale
This is fun, with very few issues, and is well worth your time.

A week ago I was let in to the Diablo III Necromancer Beta and to put it simply the Necromancer is a ton of fun. If you loved Diablo III and Reaper of Souls and want a new reason to jump back into the game to play all the new updates you should check out the upcoming Necromancer update. To be clear, The Necromancer will be a separate DLC that you will need to buy and is launching this summer(no word on the pricing yet).

"As a master of the dark arts, you wield the powers of life and death necessary to restore the Balance! Necromancers are powerful spell casters who lay waste to their enemies using curses and reanimation—along with an obedient cadre of pets. This new... Read All

If you are looking for something to play and haven't opened Diablo 3 in a bit you might want to check out the latest Diablo season. You know, in between Hearthstone matches, Fallout 4's new DLC, Stardew Valley, Battleborn, Dark Souls 3 and the upcoming Doom reboot. We all have that kind of time right?

When Diablo III season 5 rolled out I was hooked on it for a week or so. All the changes they had made to the game to that point along with the season bonuses seemed too incredible to pass up. I unlocked a few items and found some legendary recipes and was bummed that might not roll over permanently. As it turns out, a lot of your progress will roll over or transfer to a normal character.

"Those who have played through a few Seasons know there has been no shortage of gold, gear, or Paragon levels to earn. So what happens to all that hard earned progress when a Season ends? In short, you get to keep just about all of it.

Seasonal heroes will be converted to either... Read All

If you're like me and picked up Diablo III you had fun with the single player and didn't delve too deeply in the content beyond that. I spent some time with a couple Nephalem rifts at Reaper of Souls launch but didn't delve too deeply. That said, Blizzard hasn't been idle since the last expansion launch and recently dropped patch 2.4.0 as well as Season 5 that is well worth checking out.

If you didn't know, seasons last three months and contain a set of objectives that if completed grant you special stuff. To date, I haven't put much thought to completing them as they weren't very interesting but for me, Season 5 and patch 2.4.0 has changed that. To read more about... Read All

"Miles off the coast of Westmarch lies an island that many believe to be little more than legend. Cut off from the rest of Sanctuary’s developed civilizations, Greyhollow was once the center of a grand empire. Often times, such isolated societies grow and advance at incredible rates, and Greyhollow was no different. Its citizens devoted their cause to a mysterious and, as is often the case in Sanctuary, completely evil being. For reasons still unknown to this day, this unimaginably advanced society collapsed, leaving ruin, chaos, and a lingering curse behind."

Diablo III is still getting some major attention from Blizzard and the upcoming 2.4.0 patch contains a bunch... Read All

Blizzard isn't stopping the Diablo 3 update train post Reaper of Souls for a very interesting patch 2.3.0. I'll clip out the more interesting bits we've been talking about in the run up to the patch drop.

"The Ruins of Sescheron
The frozen wasteland that is the Ruins of Sescheron are now open for exploration! Filled with new enemies, traps, and environmental hazards, you'll be able to explore the region and learn more about what befell the barbarians of Mount Arreat. Explore the Immortal Throne and obtain the ultimate treasure: Kanai's Cube.
