I just wanted to let you know that our beloved game, Terraria, is coming to the Wii U and 3DS very soon. In fact, the 3DS version will be released on March 15th (in 5 days!) and the Wii U version on April 12th, according to Amazon. I have ordered both versions to give to my son, Vinny, for his birthday. He's stated interest in at least the 3DS version. Unfortunately, it seems the 3DS version is quite limited due to the surprisingly low specifications of the 3DS. It only comes in one world size, which seems to be the same as the mobile version. Different companies are working on each version. Both versions are expected to have all 1.2 content and more upon launch with...

In this pre Hearthstone expansion announcement episode we grind daily quests with Dragon Priest. I go 2 for 3 and gain more gold for packs for the upcoming expansion. This is a really fun set of games as the people I go head to head with play with some fairly unique decks.
I plan on doing a special episode talking more about the next expansion and the new cards it will be adding, so check that out when it drops in the next couple days.

After recently completing Link's Awakening i've been watching some Speedruns and found this great run from 2004's AGDQ charity run. Guiocob expertly runs this and uses all manner of wall clips, text skips and shenanigans to get the run down to one hour and seventeen minutes. There are two speedruns in the above video and the first one runs a couple of rules such as no save and quit making it so you can't glitch out the game to get a much faster and also they don't allow out of bounds. The second run allows save and quit and out of bounds and drops the run to 6 minutes.
Link's Awakening is a retro classic and watching these people break the Wind Fish is fun.

Get your BFGs ready, folks. The Doom beta is coming on March 31 and will last a whopping four days, ending on April 3!
In addition, there's a new multiplayer trailer to gawk at.
I'm just interested to find out whether my PC can run the game at all!
If you haven't registered for the beta, you can do so here: http://neworder.wolfenstein.com/en-gb/doom
Physical copies came with a code. If you pre-ordered The New Order on Steam, it should just unlock for you when the time comes, but if you got it digitally somewhere else, you should have been emailed a code.

A Vietnamese developer named Trần Vũ Trúc has created an emulator that turns your old NES games into 3D games. It's made with Unity and is currently only functional on Firefox.
The emulator basically takes the sprites and attempts to figure out what they'd look like in 3D. This works with some games more than others. Contra and Dr. Mario look great, but Super Mario Bros 3 and Mega Man are a bit rough. But the possibilities here are exciting!
If you have Firefox handy, play around with it here: http://tructv.bitbucket.org/3dnes/

Day of the Tentacle originally wrapped it's way around gaming in 1993 and is being remastered by Double Fine for launch on March 22nd. You might think that since this is an older game that you can get away with running it on your old 486 computer but that is not so! Not only can you pre-order Day of the Tentacle right now on GOG but Double Fine has also released the system specs to disappoint everyone that has their old DOS PC's from high school.
Kind of surprised it requires so much memory but you know, modern tentacles really do need to address a lot of RAM.
Minimum:
Windows: XP (Service Pack 3) / Vista / 7 / 8 / 10
Processor: 1.7 GHz Dual Core
Memory: 2 GB

Kripparrian recently posted a really great video going over the history of Hearthstone card nerfs. I really enjoy this as I played the game in an early state but don't remember much of the game balance so it's nice to get the history of how it's evolved. Interesting to consider the last card nerf was Warsong Commander and not much has been balanced since then. It seems Blizzard favors releasing new cards as a response than nerfing older cards, which I don't mind. I do think some cards should be buffed, but again Blizzard seems against that sort of thing in favor of releasing a new card that work with something less powerful.

There have been a plethora of rumors and leaks about Nintendo's upcoming NX console. At one point the large rumor was that the NX would run Android and as awesome as that may be, Nintendo shot it down pretty quick. As the rumors keep coming and the days march closer to the rumored NX reveal I have been thinking about what i'd like to see in an upcoming Nintendo console.
The Most Compelling Catalog Of Games
Nintendo has been rolling strong in gaming since the early 70's when it got into it's Game and Watch series and as such has a huge library of games. Many of us know this first hand because we keep re-buying the same games over and over again on new hardware. It's as...

We've all been waiting for the new Hearthstone expansion and Blizzard has finally confirmed that on March 11th they will unveil all of the details. So yeah, it's a announcement of the upcoming announcement of the expansion because you know... marketing in 2016!
That said all of the signs point to this expansion having something to do with World of Warcraft The Old Gods and word on the street is it will be called "Whispers of the Old Gods." The expansion announcement will stream live from the Blizzard Twitch page linked below.
What are you wanting from this expansion? As they phase out Naxxramas and Goblins VS Gnomes the new expansion has big shoes to fill and Ben Brode...

December of last year I posted about a new project, the Coleco Chameleon. It's a retro project that aimed to build a new old styled console that would be hackable by modern developers making new retro titles. Recently there have been a lot of doubt thrown on the project as it has been shown that prototypes used faked hardware.

Terraria does seem like a natural fit for the Wii U and 3DS.
So, my son's birthday was a few days ago and Terraria for the 3DS seems to be one of his favorite gifts. I also got him the Legend of Zelda Windwaker HD and Twilight Princess HD for the Wii U. He's enjoying all of them.
I found out that the 3DS version of Terraria saves your characters and worlds on your system and not on the game itself. This means, for example, my son can create characters and worlds in the game using his 3DS and I can do the same on mine. So, his stuff isn't on the game when I'm using my 3DS.
One of the things I took notice of when looking into the 3DS version is that the 3DS really isn't very powerful. However, the "New 3DS" has better hardware than the previous models. It seems that they *might* create a version of the game specifically for that 3DS model, but we'll just have to wait and see.
The Wii U version will be here in a couple of weeks, it seems. However, since I've now played the game on my Kindle, PS3, 3DS, and PC, I can say with certainty that the PC version is the ultimate one. Using the keyboard and mouse just makes everything better, to me, particularly switching between a tool and a weapon. I like using the touch screens to mine, although the mouse does a great job of that, too.
I may post later after I've tried the Wii U version. I expect it will be very much like the current console version, yet a combination of that, the mobile, and 3DS versions.
