I'm curious to know if any of you watch any YouTube channels frequently. If so, what are they?

Every night, I check one of my favorite YouTube channels, created and run by Paul Soares Jr. (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCP6f9x4iXk3LH8Q1sqJmYPQ). I found Paul's channel before I began playing Minecraft. In fact, I watched his Minecrat Survive and Thrive series before I began to play. I found the channel some how, but most likely because my son is always watching gaming videos on YouTube. One of the channels he watches is "Stampy" (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCj5i58mCkAREDqFWlhaQbOw). These channels are cool because the people are showing videos of games such as Minecraft, Terraria, and much more.

Although I pretty much just watch Paul's channel, I'm interested in know what channels my fellow Cheerful Ghosts watch and like. Please feel free to share your favorite channels in the comments below.

Oh and in case you don't know Jon (aka Cheerful Ghost) is on YouTube, too (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtRz7NiDn8jGOj8RfPSedzw). You can check out trailers, Round Table discussions, and more.

I watch a ton of Youtube channels throughout the day whilst I'm working.

My absolute favorite is Extra Credits (https://www.youtube.com/user/ExtraCreditz). Really in depth analysis of interesting subjects in and around games.

Did You Know Gaming? is another great channel about games and game history (https://www.youtube.com/user/DYKGaming)

Gaijin Goomba is a cool cultural look at games (https://www.youtube.com/user/GaijinGoomba)

Pro Jared is heavy Nintendo. A lot of game previews and reviews (https://www.youtube.com/user/DMJared)

The Game Theorists is an amazing channel. Another one of my favorites. Really in depth study of aspects of games (I definitely recommend looking up the Super Smash Bros Secret Lore video) (https://www.youtube.com/user/MatthewPatrick13)

Previously Recorded is mostly a twitch Lets Play channel, but they do some in depth reviews of games. They did an review of Alien: Isolation and hated it, which spawned this dramatic reading of a comment they received (http://youtu.be/JBqPkMQ2ToU) They also are some of the guys from Red Letter Media, which makes fantastic movie reviews (Plinkett) (https://www.youtube.com/user/PreRecRLM)

Also, it's not gaming related, but I really enjoy it is Getting Doug With High. It's a video podcast of Doug Benson smoking pot and talking with celebrities (of varying celebrity status. A lot of minor comics, but some big names). As pot was voted to be legalized here in Oregon, I've been interested in learning more and stumbled upon this series. They're quite entertaining (usually, there have been one or two duds) A recent episode that was entertaining is this one http://youtu.be/bX3inDgJfKI

Of course, you have to subscribe to ERB (Epic Rap Battles of History https://www.youtube.com/user/ERB). If you don't, you have no idea how much you're missing

Wow, that's an excellent reply, Adam! I greatly appreciate that you've shared so many channels. It also makes me feel good that my son and I aren't the only ones who watch some kind of gaming YouTube channel daily. I'll have to check into those channels you posted they sound cool.

It's also cool to know that you're over there on the West Coast. I'm over here on the East Coast in Virginia, along with Travis. It's been a long dream of mine to live over there closer to your area. I believe there are more open-minded people (and Liberals) over that way and I feel like that's where I belong. Hopefully, some time in my future I may move over there. I have friends that are in California, as well, so I may at least get to visit in the nearer future.

Thanks, Jon. I've seen Twitch mentioned a couple of times on this site, but I don't know anything about it.

Like Adam I watch Extra Credits and The Game Theorists. Both are great channels!

I also really enjoy two PBS shows: Game/Show: https://www.youtube.com/user/pbsgameshow
and Idea Channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/pbsideachannel

Cool, thanks for sharing, Tim. YouTube is really awesome, just about everything is there. My son also likes to watch cartoons there. Lately he's been watching the Kirby cartoon, but I've seen him watch the classic Super Mario Bros., Ghostbusters, Sonic, Pokemon, and more. I'm glad that the PS3 and Wii U have a YouTube app. Watching YouTube on the big TV is pretty cool, too.

Since we're talking about YouTube, I thought I'd share a few specific things I've been watching lately.

There are a lot of games on Paul's channel that are very similar. I refer the those that are similar to Minecraft, such as Salt, Subnautica, and Stranded Deep. Many of them are (or were) early access games and I enjoy watching him play them. Luckily, Salt has a demo, but I've only installed it, I haven't played it yet. Each of these are similar and yet very different. Salt, for instance, looks a lot like the graphical style of The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker. Stranded Deep and Subnautica look much more realistic. I may end up getting Stranded Deep eventually, the graphics look amazing, everything looks very real. There are sharks in the game, but one of the things I saw in one of his videos really made me want to jump in and that was a humpback whale. If you like open world sandbox kind of games, I recommend you check them out or at least check out the videos he's posted. I may later post something about these games.

Lately, I've played Don't Starve a bit and figured watching some YouTube videos about it would help me out. However, many of the videos I found were of the pre-release version and some of them were kind of annoying. Although, I finally found someone that has plenty of Don't Starve videos and have been watching his series. While some of the videos seem to have some kind of audio issue, I've found them to be very helpful and I'm still slowly making my way through them. If you want to check out the first playlist (there are two) visit this link: http://youtu.be/uc_y4VdldLs?list=PLAk5nLibEkcfqnuKzQfPlPf9BcpFCffGO I may later share this again in a post about the game.
