I've known about this for a few months, but have waited for a release date and trailer to let you know about it. Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition is coming 11/11/21. It is a remaster of GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas and it looks gorgeous!

GTA 3 was a pivotal corner stone in the series that brought the series from bird's eye view into the 3D third-person perspective we've come to love since. I believe GTA 3 took the series to a whole new level and it's popularity has exploded since. I loved GTA 3 very much and I also very much loved Vice City. I'm quite sure I bought both games in their infancy. I even have what was released on the PSP, except for GTA Chinatown Wars, which I've never played. I still have all three games on Steam. While I first played these games on my PS2, it was actually the original XBox versions that I loved more, because it allowed you to use your own music.

I don't mean to belittle San Andreas, it was great. I'm quite sure I bought it at launch. However, there is a mission called Supply Lines that I found to be extremely frustrating when I first played it. I'd rather not do it again, but I think this remaster warrants attempting it again. I did finally complete it, though. In recent years, I tried replaying the game on Steam and ran into another frustrating mission and I gave up. The mission itself is simple, you just use the hydraulics on a car and bounce around. Unfortunately the controller configuration didn't translate well to Steam and I was unable to figure out how to complete it. I think I did find a solution much later, but I haven't tried. It might work better now with my XBox One controller.

This compilation is $60 and is coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. As for PC, I don't see it on Steam and the article I linked below says it will be available on the Rockstar Launcher. I think I might get it right away, even though I strongly prefer to have all my games on Steam. I've actually been bored with gaming lately and have taken a break. There's a game coming out next month that I've been eagerly awaiting and it looks like now I have this one to look forward to as well.

Let me know what you think about this. Are you a fan of the series? What are your thoughts on the games? What do you think about this remaster compilation? Will you get it and if so when do you think you might?

I've never played these games before but heard really good things about the series. I played the original Grand Theft Auto on DOS and I really enjoyed that. Thinking I might pick this up on sale at some point and give it a go.

Wow, the glow ups they did on these games look incredible. Three games too, it's a great value.

I played the first two GTA games, too. They were kind of enjoyable, but I didn't get into them like I did the later games. The later games gave a narrative and a direction of things to do. I didn't know what to do, but it was fun running around doing what I could do.

Yeah GTA3 was my first dip into the franchise and I’ve loved loved LOVED each entry since. The top-down ones are very different, and I never could quite get into them.

The Rockstar Games Launcher has been in "offline mode" for about (maybe more) 7 hours according to the timestamp of Rockstar's latest tweet. The tweet says it's "temporarily offline for maintenance." I'm not sure I can remember a more disappointing launch. However, I found a great video about 20 things you should know before playing. It's spoiler-free, but for those of us who've played the game it's a great friendly reminder of some great tips for each game. I'm not even sure I was aware of some of them. I strongly recommend watching it. I may have to re-watch it to remember the helpful tips. Check it out here: https://youtu.be/8-qbx5X9qeM

If you want to check up on the status see the support page. It currently has a big red note at the top displaying the "offline" status along with the different services and their status. You can check it out here: https://support.rockstargames.com/

I hate Twitter, but I've been checking to see if anything's changed (it hasn't), but if you want to check it out, you can do so here: https://twitter.com/RockstarSupport

I just found a really good "Before You Buy" video from gameranx (a channel I like). It's spoiler-free and shows game play on all platforms. Wow, the Switch version looks awful! While I haven't had the chance to play it yet (Rockstar services are still down), from what I heard in the video the most disappointing thing is the tracks that were removed. There's a link in the video's description which shows what's there and what's missing. I didn't recognize too many that were taken out, but there were at least a couple I was bummed out about. It seems GTA3 kept it's soundtrack, which is great, because I absolutely loved it. It has the Scarface soundtrack, but I didn't see Scarface until years later (and I really loved it, hearing the soundtrack that I was so used to in GTA3 was a huge bonus!). "Say hello to my little friend" and check out the video: https://youtu.be/k8xxxyppTRQ

Yeah this seems like a really bad launch. I’m glad I waited and I hope they get things fixed.

I saw they took it down to be purchased from the Rockstar Launcher because they left the hot coffee stuff in and an uncompiled main game file with dev comments and full scripts. Plus all the music that was removed was still there, just disabled via scripting. A

The game is still unavailable. Yes, someone found uncompiled code that contains dev commentary. They also figured out that the removed music was simply blocked via a script. Worst launch ever, in my experience. Good thing I have something else new to play.

Finally! Now PC gamers can finally install and play it.

Mods already! The rain is horrible in the game(s), but there's a mod that supposedly fixes that. I haven't tried it yet, but you can find it here: https://www.nexusmods.com/grandtheftautothetrilogy/mods/4?tab=description

There are some others mentioned in this article: https://www.gamespot.com/articles/the-gta-trilogy-is-being-fixed-by-modders/1100-6498063/

GameSpot has a video on the "6Things The GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition NEEDS to Fix." You'll see the rain I mentioned as #1. Check it out: https://youtu.be/kHsEj52MePE

Damn this trilogy is looking bad (and even though I hate the word "literally" because people "literally" over use it, this could be taken literally). I found this review by GameSpot, which points out the good and bad of it and it's mostly bad if not horrible. They gave it a 4, which I assume is out of 10. All this stuff makes me want to play something else. Check it out: https://youtu.be/Ul55KpKO7b8

Due to the terrible launch of this GTA trilogy on PC, Rockstar is offering to give us a game for free. You can only pick between Grand Theft Auto V: Premium Edition, Grand Theft Auto IV: Complete Edition, L.A. Noire,
Bully: Scholarship Edition, and Max Payne 3. Apparently, there's another choice, you can get "a Great White Shark card or 55 gold bars in Red Dead Online. The deadline for this offer is January 6, 2022, at 12 AM ET."

I'm having trouble deciding which to pick. It won't be GTA IV or V as I have them on Steam. I have L.A. Noire on PS3 and don't know if I really want to replay it. I'm also not really interested in the other two games. I know little about Bully and even less about Max Payne. Since I don't play RDO, that offer isn't very appealing to me either.

I care more about them fixing what's wrong w/ the trilogy than these free offers. I didn't run into many bugs, but one I ran into I was able to fix w/ a mod, but then that bug got patched so the mod is no longer necessary.

Also, make sure to check your notifications. I just noticed one I overlooked. They're also giving us a $10 discount on anything purchased in the store that's $15 or more. You have to buy the trilogy before 1/5/21 to get this.

What do you think about this? Did you get the trilogy? What are your thoughts? What game would you recommend getting or think you'll get?

I wasn't in a rush to get this so I never bought it. Thankfully. I've heard wonderful things about Bully though.
