Azurephile gives this a solid "Rad" on the Ghost Scale
This is fun, with very few issues, and is well worth your time.

Recommendation and whatâs new
Basic summary: As usual, the game takes place in a new region with new Pokemon and a new professor. Fairy-type has been introduced and added to some older Pokemon. Mega Evolution is a powerful temporary evolution you can use during battle. It requires your Pokemon to hold a special Mega Evolution stone. Youâll get one with your starter Pokemon and can only use it once during battle. Exp Share now works as a key item in your inventory, so you donât have to give it to one Pokemon to receive extra exp, now...

I just received my 8th Pokemon Badge. I think my Venusaur is over level 70. I've been using it since I got a Bulbasaur because I wanted to use Sleep Powder to help me catch Pokemon. It's still in my top slot and I pretty much use it's Mega Evolution each time. I also caught the legendary Pokemon, but saved my Master Ball and used an Ultra Ball. Now, I guess I might try out the Pokemon League, which is usually quite difficult in every Pokemon game. This is about the point where I sometimes stop playing a Pokemon game because of the level of difficulty of the Pokemon League. That said, we'll see how it goes.
Totally missed the Pokemon craze save a minor stint with Pokemon Blue back in the day. Recently bought some Gameboy titles(as in original Gameboy) and want to pickup Blue again to play. Figure it might be good to start with the game that kicked it all off and then move to something more current.
Awesome!
The earliest (or oldest) Pokemon game I've played is Pickachu Yellow. It was almost 10 years ago. I also forgot to mention on thing I really like about Pokemon X, it hardly takes any time at all to save the game, it saves very quickly! I am now on Victory Road.
Jon, if you play Blue again, feel free to comment here and let me know which starter you choose, or which you plan to choose. As I've probably said in this post, I almost always go for the blue (water-type) Pokemon, just because blue is quite definitely my favorite color. =) That said, I have no idea who my favorite Pokemon is or what type I like best. Sometimes I think I like Ghost- and Dragon-types the best. I remember when i first saw Sableye, I thought it was an awesome, adorable, Pokemon, but so many of them are. Do you have a favorite Pokemon or type? I've also never played against anyone (real person). I always seem to play against types (such as using Electric-types against Water-types). However, that's not always the case as I'm still using my (level 73 now, I think) Venusaur in pretty much every battle I have now because it's so powerful. =)
I believe Travis has given Pokemon a try, but I don't know to what extent.
I played Pokemon blue back in the day, and then haven't touched a Pokemon game until now with Pokemon Y. Squirtle (and it's evolutions) still kick some serious butt. :P
I'm not nearly as far as you are, I still have just one badge and my highest level pokemon is somewhere around 30. I've been taking my time and trying to catch one of every unique pokemon in an area before moving on. That strategy is quickly wearing on me though, and I'm probably going to abandon it and just start advancing and only catching Pokemon I might actually use.
I've also noticed that I have a definite bias towards 1st generation Pokemon, as my current team consists of Wartortle, Pidgeotto, Kadabra, Beedrill, and Pikachu. The only non-first gen Pokemon I'm using is my starter (Quilladin). I was using the Torchic I got as a mystery gift, but it leveled too fast and won't listen to me until I get some higher level gym badges. :P
That's awesome, WBS! I've just been going through the game from one place to the next, catching Pokemon as they appear. I did put my starter (now a Froakie) in the Box along with Blazekin. I'm working on evolving the Pokemon that are in my box. Since I made it to Victory Road, I noticed I needed Surf again, so I took out Froakie and taught it Surf. I caught 2 Pikachu, not paying attention to gender, hoping to breed for a Pichu. Luckily they weren't wasted as one NPC wanted a low-level Pokemon, so I gave him one of my Pickachu. I'm going to see how Victory Road goes, but I imagine by the time I reach the Elite Four, I'm going to have to get out my final team (whoever they are, I don't know yet) and level them up to beat the Four.
Last night, my son beat the Elite Four and the Champion. He said it was easy and difficult. LOL
I'm going to have to talk to my son more about the Elite Four. I made it, but was defeated by the first of them. Granted the only really strong Pokemon I have is Venusaur and that's no good against Fire-types, especially the Fire- & Flying-type that used Brave Bird a couple of times to defeat me. LOL
Just started Blue a bit ago. Post more about my thoughts on it. So far, very fun.
Awesome!
What starter did you choose? :P
Bulbasaur accidentally. I wanted to pick Squirtle, but I am happy with Bulbasaur.
Hahaha, that's awesome since Venusaur has been ruling my X game, sadly I don't think it's going to help me much with the Elite Four.
I just noticed, I've only spent 32 hours on Pokemon X. It does seem like I've made it to the Elite Four faster than normal. I think there's a good reason for that, the way the EXP Share works. I think I've been doing much less grinding than I normally do in a Pokemon game. That said, grinding is exactly what I'm doing now that I know my team is not even yet set up for the Elite Four. Still, what I'm doing now is taking Pokemon out of my Box that will evolve by being leveled up. After I'm done with that (I only have 3 full Boxes of Pokemon and a 4th one with a few in it), I'll probably be putting my end-game team together and getting them leveled up enough to beat the Elite Four.
Wow! Venusaur is level 96! It seems to me that in other Pokemon games this was a difficult level to achieve. I'm debating with myself on telling you who I've chosen for my team to fight the Elite Four and the Champion. I don't really want to give too much in spoilers, yet it's probably safe. From what I know, you're definitely going to have a well-rounded team as the last 5 Pokemon trainers have various types of Pokemon. I'm currently working on getting my team prepared by grinding on Victory Road.
One final note I wanted to mention about the game and that is I like the music. At times it reminds of Final Fantasy (I'm thinking it must be FFXII that I'm thinking about in particular). Anyway, all-in-all, I think it's been a great game and I'm working on finishing it so that I can play The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. What comes after that is beyond me, I have no idea.
I finished the game! I pretty much overpowered my final opponents. =)
