Ok so I'm not sure if this game qualifies for "retro" but it is pretty old at this point, so I'm busting it out for Retro Tuesday.
If you're unfamiliar with the Harvest Moon franchise, this series of games usually revolves around working on a farm and turning it from a rundown field of rocks and tree stumps into a profitable ranch, all while trying to get married and make friends with your neighbors. It sounds really lame but the games are actually a lot of fun. It's one of those rare games that is fun without any kind of fighting at all.
This was the first Harvest Moon game I ever played and from what I've read on-line it's considered by a lot of fans to be the best in...

I remember hanging out with you a few times and you showing me your farm. Did you ever play the SNES version?
Anyways, this game always looked awesome to me but I never had the chance to play it. I guess I played its distant cousin on Facebook, Farmville but from what I played of Harvest Moon it always looked better to me.
Wonder if they will do a web/online version, it would be pretty fun and less lame than the waiting aspect of Farmville.
Never tried out the SNES version. I have one of the PS2 games and the futuristic spin off "Innocent life" but neither game seemed as fun as the 64 version, so I didn't play them much.
Oh, and Harvest Moon != Farmville. Harvest Moon is creative, different, and fun. Farmville is just terrible. :P
Yeah, Farmville had a few days of play value for me and I agree, its un-great. I was just musing that Farmville is in some way, a distant cousin to Harvest Moon. :)
