Recently I decided to play through Portal 2 again and afterward wanted more to play. Originally when I played Portal 2 it was such a great experience I felt no draw to play the co-op missions. The Portal 2 co-op missions take place directly after the single player story is complete and feature Atlas and P-body, two testing robots sent forth by GLaDOS. I asked Travis if he wanted to play the co-op missions and he was happy to oblige. Tonight we started through the missions together and I am happy to say, it was lots of fun.

Portal 2 co-op reminds me more of the original Portal than anything. The co-op game focuses way more on straight testing than story which make... Read All

One of the last Valve games waiting to get the Linux treatment is now in beta. You can opt-in to it to play it now!

Very few games from Valve's library are left now. It may only be CS:GO? Not sure. But it's good to see another high-quality game join the Linux circle, even if it was one that was obviously coming.

I just completed Portal 2 after playing it over a few sessions this weekend. For quite some time i've wanted to relive some Valve classics and on a lark, I decided to pop in my PS3 disc and give it a spin. From the start, Portal 2 is an engrossing dystopian tale where you wake up after countless years to a Aperture Science facility in ruins. Featuring a talented voice cast consisting of Ellen McLain as GlaDOS, Stephen Merchant as Wheatley and J.K. Simmons as Cave Johnson the game is full of amazing moments and great character pieces.

I figured the game would look a bit dated on the Playstation 3 but Valve's look for Portal 2 is beautiful in 720p. For comparison I... Read All

We got a new shower curtain to replace the periodic table one that was getting a little nasty.

MINOR PORTAL 2 SPOILERS:

If you've played Portal 2, you may remember that Aperture got their start making shower curtains, and accidentally discovered the portal technology when trying to design a more efficient shower curtain.

This one, unfortunately, does not have portal technology.

Just found an awesome video made with Valve's Source Film Maker called "The Turret Anthem." It features turrets from Portal and Portal 2 and contains a cool song and a great animation sequence cut together with Valve's Source Film Maker.

Up vote it on Steam here:

Recently an update to Portal 2 included these updates:

Big Picture Support
- Added 2 controller splitscreen support for Standard Co-Op. Press X on the second controller inside the first Co-op menu to activate it.
- Fixed controller's ‘quick ping’ button causing the player’s movement to stop.
- Fixed not being able to exit Robot Enrichment or Create Test Chambers menus with the controller.

This is awesome news for people wanting to run Steam in the living room as adding the same console features to the PC version helps this. Recently Big Picture mode came to my Steam and my first thoughts of it were good. Over the next few days I plan on doing a bender of Lets Plays,... Read All

YouTuber Timtimfed recently posted one of his new creations "When Gordon met Chell." People have mused about a possible Portal and Half-life mashup and this video delves into that territory.

I think its pretty fun that both characters sign in the video to keep cannon with both games having silent protagonists.

The Portal 2 Perpetual Testing Initiative is a really fun map editor and sharing platform. Making maps and sharing them with friends really brought me back to my early map making days with Wolfenstein, Doom, Warcraft 2 and Starcraft. Looks like Valve is taking the Perpetual Testing Initiative one step further and allowing people the ability to make co-op maps!

A snip from the Valve blog post:

"That's right: Puzzle creators can now design and publish co-op maps, which puzzle players can now greedily consume. Well, as long as they have a co-op partner. Which the 75% off coupon should help them (i.e.: you) find. We've also added a "Quick Play" feature that creates... Read All

As I figure out how to capture video to show everyone my Terraria world, he is a video of a real life Portal 2 jumpsuit! I am going to try to convince my wife this should be her Halloween costume.

Hmmmmm, I wonder what odds Vegas would give me on that happening? Longshot or 2 to 1?

I've been playing portal maps and mods for a while. I am happy to attempt to contribute some of my own puzzles with the release of Portal 2's Perpetual Testing Initiative. I've completed two maps so far and am enjoying the process. It's a unique kind of puzzle itself trying to create these puzzles: making the map intuitive enough, making sure the player can't get stuck, watching for unintended solutions, etc. It's a lot of trial and error, but I'm enjoying it. Please let me know what you think of my first two efforts. Thanks!
