Well, I finally installed a mod. Lately, I've been watching Paul Soares Jr.'s "Man vs. Minecraft" series (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wfFwCZ1J-bY&list=PL6B5B91968D9032D2). I've made it to Season 2 and found out that he's using the MoCreatures mod. So, I decided to check it out. The main reason I have neglected mods for Minecraft so far is that it looked too complicated to get them installed. I saw some saying something about editing files within some of the java files and it just looked too complicated. However, getting MoCreatures installed wasn't that difficult. I first had to download a few files. The mod itself and one of the other files are in .zip format and the only thing needed for their installation was to put them in a mods directory in the .minecraft folder, that was easy. Another file was a .jar file, but installation was easy just by double-clicking on the file in the directory. This mod isn't for the latest version of Minecraft, instead the latest version of the mod is for Minecraft 1.7.2, so I had to get my launcher to install that version of the game so I could get the mod running.
The mod itself is pretty self-explanatory, it adds more creatures to the game such as all kinds of birds, bears, wolves, werewolves, snakes, sharks, and more. I believe that this mod is the reason that Mojang included some of the newer animals in the game such as horses and rabbits. Anyway, if you're interested in the mod, check out http://mocreatures.org/.
Are there any mods for Minecraft that you like?

Pretty good idea, one thing I like in Terraria is how many animals there are in the game as well as the large variety of creeps.
It's beautiful and scary at the same time. There are so many birds, it's lovely hearing them. I recognize some of them. Werewolves are quite scary and not easily defeated in werewolf form. Luckily, they turn back into humans in the day time, which makes for an easy kill. Also, many of the creatures introduced in the mod have their own drops which can be crafted into new recipes. For instance, scorpions drop chitin which can be crafted into armor that gives you regeneration.
I also enjoyed the new critters in Terraria. I enjoyed seeing and hearing them, which makes the game(s) a bit more "realistic."
I just finished season 5 of Man Vs. Minecraft (by Paul Soares Jr. on YouTube). It was really cool. He used a few mods along the way, which I want to check into. I've already mentioned the MoCreatures mod, but he also used the Twilight Forest and Aether mods. I will check those out soon. I already have Twilight Forest installed.
