I've waited about as long as I can before jumping back into it. There are tons of features we haven't played with in our servers in the past (fishing, new styles of blocks, about 1000 items). We had discussed waiting for 1.3 which could be next week or it could be next year.

I got a feva, and the only prescription, is more Terraria! Who's with me?

http://terraria.gamepedia.com/1.2.4 and http://terraria.gamepedia.com/1.2.4.1 have info about the stuff we haven't played.

EDIT: And how could I forget Mounts and minecarts? This is awesome.

I'm with you. I was even thinking of researching some places that host servers so we could create a Cheerful Ghost Terraria server. I've never played the game with anyone else, so I find it kind of curious and fascinating to think of joining a server. Can you chat/communicate?

I started a new character and world recently, but didn't play too long. I think it would be more fun having a server and playing along with you and others.

Yeah, I popped into Terraria recently but it just isn't as fun without other people anymore.

And yes, you can chat.

I popped into it recently, too, but didn't spend much time in it. I could probably attribute my lack of Terraria gaming to playing The Sims 2 and Starbound (nightly). I've just recently added Command & Conquer Red Alert 3, so that's what I'm playing now. Since I've had the C&C First Decade for a long time, I'm thinking of playing it starting at the beginning when I'm done with RA3, but that's all off-topic.

Have you or Jon looked into any servers? Would you like me to do some research into the matter? I know you guys are much busier than I am and am willing to help out in whatever way I can. =)

Yeah there are a few good providers for a good price. I've looked into it extensively actually. Every month or so I get a hankering to play it and check into it :)

Azurephile   Super Member wrote on 08/11/2014 at 02:10am

Excellent. I'm looking forward to being able to play with you and the others on a server, hopefully soon. =)

These guys ain't too bad for 6 players.

Not sure we've ever had more than 6 on a server, so the base price seems right.

I am in, but I don't think I can play as much as I have in the past. That said, i'd love to get a new bee mount ALTHOUGH it has a 1/100 chance of dropping!

You know I'm in!

Blue_Element wrote on 08/11/2014 at 05:51pm

I'm in too! If there's enough slots that it.

*that is.

OK so lets talk about rules. In the past we'd talked about allowing teleportation to major areas from the get-go, rather than waiting until hardmode unlocks them. This assumes that's still something everyone thinks is a good idea. If not, I can take that out. SO, without further ado-- proposed rules:

1. Be excellent to each other. Don't mess with people's stuff or their builds unless they've said it's ok. (I doubt this one even needs to be said with you guys)
2. Keep your builds at least three blocks above ground to allow people to pass freely, or build underground.
3. This is a server for new characters, and you should use only items you find as you play this character with the exception of the few starter items we provide in the starter chest (platforms, torches, potions, magic mirror), any items that are only aesthetic (vanity items, special kinds of blocks), or wiring tools (teleporters, switches, etc). Basically, don't use anything to give yourself an advantage over anyone else.

Also, since they've added the ability to run up one block steps and make inclines, it would be kinda interesting to try not leveling out the residential area, and try to build into the landscape, but that's just an idea and you can do whatever you want with your build, as long as it isn't disruptive to movement through the area.

Since the minecart is available to craft starting at tier one, does it make sense to allow teleportation or just build carts? That said, Teleportation is way cooler and it might be nice to not rebuild stuff twice.

That said, these rules look good Travis.

Travis   Admin   Post Author wrote on 08/12/2014 at 03:55am

That's a very good point. Minecarts can get you there fast. Better yet, teleporting minecarts: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3s6Ofw8n1s

That video is worth the four minutes.

jdodson   Admin wrote on 08/12/2014 at 04:34am

That was pretty impressive. I wonder how much of the total world that covered?

Travis   Admin   Post Author wrote on 08/13/2014 at 02:58am

I've uploaded the world, now we wait for them to get back to us.

Azurephile   Super Member wrote on 08/13/2014 at 04:12am

You got it started, Travis?! If so, that's great news! I saw that you were playing Terraria earlier.

jdodson   Admin wrote on 08/13/2014 at 04:15am

Cool. Looking forward to it.
