This is really awesome. One point though, it says Super Mario Brothers is an RPG. Don't agree.

That said, seeing the 10x gains (generally speaking) from console to console was cool.

I love a good infographic, and this is really cool. I noticed there is no data on the original X-box tough, I wonder why?

I was also surprised to see that, according to the chart, the PS2 has sold the most units of any console ever, and by a lot! Second place went to the PSone which also had a pretty big lead over the number 3 spot. However, I didn't see any hand held consoles on here.

And yeah, Super Mario Bros. as an RPG? Not even close (well, unless you're talking about this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Mario_RPG:_Legend_of_the_Seven_Stars)

Hmmm maybe the orig Xbox didn't really move the needle much? Hmm. Seemed to....

Thought the Wii sold more than the PS2 but that makes sense, the ps2 came at the right time where DVDs were hot so it doubled for most people.

The PS2 has also been out for a lot longer. Also, most PS3's aren't reverse compatible so if you want to play the tons and tons of great PS2 games you need to buy a PS2 still.

Sony removing ps2 compat was a mistake largely. I don't are personally but at least providing a emulator would suffice for most people. I can understand not providing comparability for the old controllers, but Playstation -> Playstation 2 comparability was a killer feature they quickly dropped.

I wonder how the next gen consoles will keep comparability with the mad DLC and games we all own?
