True story: this game is actually what got my brother-in-law to actually like me. Before we bonded over video games I'm pretty sure he just saw me as some guy who married his sister. :P

That's awesome! Video Games for Bonding! I demand a PSA from the govt about this. :)
The Fable games are amazing, yet really disappointing. I love playing them, I thoroughly enjoy them, there are just so many missteps along the way that make me wonder what they were smoking.
Wondering what mis-steps you mean? Ive heard good things about Fable and always lamented the disclusion on the PS3. Though I do believe they had one on the PC?
I know the first one came out on PC, I think you can get the Fable III on Steam too.
The only complaint I had about the first one is how your character ages as you level up. So by the time you reach the end of the game you're an old man even though no one around you ages. It was a very weird design decision IMO. I usually just equipped gear that covered my face so I couldn't tell I was old looking. :P
I should also note that I have the Lost Chapters version of the first Fable, which has a lot of extra content and really helped flesh out the game.
Jon, I can't really name anything specific, for the most part. I don't know how to quantify it. I don't really have any complaints about the first Fable, except that it was unpolished. There was a lot of potential that hadn't been achieved. Fable 3 was kinda messy though. The whole system of decisions that crops up about halfway through the game is bad-- you never know what you're going to need until it gets time to make the call. Further, the core game was basically just Fable 2 with a new plot.
That makes sense, thanks.
