This might be a day one purchase for me, if I had a PS4. Jonathan has mentioned it will come to PC but it seems it will be exclusive to the PS4 for a time. The Witness is a very beautiful game and I hope all the hard work has made it incredible. Are you interested to head into The Witness an explore an abandoned island?

"Hi everyone! We finally know the release date for The Witness: it’s 26th January 2016. That’s about four months from now, and it will be a very busy four months as we work hard to make the game the absolute best we can.

We’ll be very happy to get the game out into the world, because we’ve been working on it a long time! We originally thought The Witness would be coming out toward the end of the PS4 launch window, but… there’s just been a lot to do. I think when the game is in your hands, you’ll find it to be intricate and deep, and also unlike anything else you have played.

A richly detailed, cell-shaded puzzler with hints of Myst and The Talos Principle? Yes, please :).

Braid wasn't amazing, for me, just because of the mechanics of the game. Controlling the flow of time wasn't entirely new, although not implemented to the extent that Blow introduced into what was otherwise a typical platformer. Integrating those mechanics with the drama of the story showed what Blow is capable of as a craftsman. Expecting as much from The Witness might be unfair, but I'm totally expecting as much...or more. :)

I agree. By the time I played Braid I didn't quite get all the hype. That said, I played it years after it's initial launch during the first Indie craze. So by then i'd played stuff like it and it was good, but I didn't latch on to it.

I think having high expectations for this game is appropriate. Jonathan is, at this point, an accomplished game creator and he and his team have sunk quite a bit of time into The Witness. So I think expecting it to be very good isn't unfair. smile
