In 1993 iD Software melted the faces off the entire world with the release of Doom on DOS. Doom was a masterpiece of violence and gore that ushered in a new era of gaming with the First Person Shooter. iD created some very iconic work such as Wolfenstein, Doom and Quake and as many books and documentaries have been dedicated to the topic. I recently saw one you all need to check out and is linked above. The video is somewhat dated in that it was released in a post Rage world but it mentions the upcoming Doom reboot and the sale of the company to Zenimax/Bethesda.

This was a really cool look at iD. I enjoyed Wolfenstein when I was in middle/high school, and played Doom some, but never played Quake. Nevertheless, this is a great documentary into the company's start, growth and eventual sale.

Yep, I really enjoyed watching this in a couple chunks over a few days.

This is great! It's sad that it's not current, but it's good to know that Doom (2016) was a success that lead to Doom Eternal. So, it seems Id is still doing well, though it's sad that only one of it's founders is part of it now. I know the Unreal Engine is used in a few games, one of which is Ark: Survival Evolved. Anyway, I recommend this video for any Wolfenstein/Doom/Quake fan. I've also been a bit oblivious to machinima, which was mentioned in the video. If you want to see what machinima is, check out the the wiki (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Machinima) or watch "Diary of a Camper," which is great! https://youtu.be/mq4Ks4Z_NGY
