After a successful launch in Japan, Miitomo will be headed stateside this Thursday March 31st. Miitomo is a smartphone app that allows you to build your Nintendo/Mii profile and connect with your friends. The power of the app is in your ability to customize your online persona and Nintendo lets you do a bit of it for free and a lot more if you pay. I hope this is part of a big Nintendo push to harmonize all our devices together, but for now it's just a new way to create Mii's.
I'll be grabbing the app on Thursday and if there is a way we can friend each other let's discuss digits in the comments.

I'm looking forward to seeing what this really will be. I downloaded the Japanese version (in English), but couldn't connnect my account to it, so I was very limited to what I could do. Basically I created a new Mii, then shopped for some clothes. The game will ask you random questions like "What's your favorite food?" and when you answer them, you get some coins that you can buy various outfits with.
There was something called "Quests," but I couldn't go into that menu without a Nintendo account, and I couldn't friend anybody, so it was a pretty boring game as you can imagine.
But, I look forward to seeing how it is when it's actually released here this week :)
I keep reading the title as "Miyamoto". :)
Do I need this?
Probably not, but it couldn't hurt to check out when it's available, since it's free :)
@Will_Ball: I think Miitomo was intentionally similar to Myamoto.
Just set it up on my phone. Waiting for friends. Looks like the only way to add people is through Face-to-Face, Facebook or Twitter. So if any of you have Miitomo set up, my twitter is https://twitter.com/AdamPFarnsworth :)
I just associated Miitomo with Facebook and Twitter so hook that up and add me.
Adam: I have a friend request pending for you
Fun fact: 友だち(Tomodachi) means friend or companion in Japanese. So Miitomo is a mashup between "Mii" and "Friend". The kanji 友 (tomo*) is suppose to look like two hands meeting in friendship.
*tomo is just one of the ways to pronounce it. Kanji are hard.
I think "Miitomo" must also translates to "text addict" in some alien language.

The voices in the game are creepy. That and the fact that my Mii keeps dreaming about jdodson.
I agree. Many people have oddly chosen voices that make the game odd at times.
That said, I don't find it strange at all people dream about me. Makes absolutely perfect sense...
*cough*
