if I had to pick between getting and XBox One or PS4 i'd buy the XBox One. Firstly the XBox One has 4k Blu-ray, something the PS4 doesn't and it also has backwards compatibility with original XBox and XBox 360 games where the PS4 does not. One area that Microsoft seems to be excelling at is backwards compatibility and in the DF Retro video linked above they go into detail about how it works. Another reason to get an XBox is, to date, i've never owned one so I haven't had the pleasure of playing the Halo franchise or the other exclusives to the system. Truth be told the chances I'll buy a PS4 or XBox One are quite low in general but I do appreciate Microsoft putting resources into making backwards compatibility work so well and think Sony could improve a lot here.

Xbox One S/X does, but the base XBox One does not.

But the decision not to include that in the PS4 Pro is baffling. It does 4K video! Just not on disc.

But for me it always comes down to the games and there are a ton of PS4 exclusives I'm interested in and none on the XBO. But you definitely get a larger backlog of games if you never owned an XBox before.

Right . Sometimes I wonder if I should spell all that out or go lighter in detail?

It does do 4K video which is great. Not including 4K Blu-ray seems odd to me but we are in a different world than we were when the PS3 hit. I don't see 4K Blu-ray as an in-demand thing. I have a couple and such but I haven't fully converted yet and am taking my time with it.

There are WAY more games on the PS4 including exclusives but , for me, I like to consider the whole catalog and the thought that you could buy an XBox One and play all the XBox games on it, which you can get for cheap BTW, is a much richer prospect than just playing whatever the latest and greatest is.
