Stardew Valley is an open-ended country-life RPG with support for up to 4-player co-op!

You've inherited your grandfather's old farm plot in Stardew Valley. Armed with hand-me-down tools and few coins, you set out to begin your new life. Can you learn to live off the land and turn these overgrown fields into a thriving home?

"Fruit trees are a long-term investment for your farm. They donā€™t need to be watered, but they are expensive to buy, need a lot of space, and require a full year of growth before theyā€™ll produce any fruit. However, once itā€™s established, your tree will provide you with juicy morsels every day during its fruiting season!

What will you do with your new fruit?

Sell it? Cook with it? Give it to your sweetie?

Throw the pungent little thing into an oak barrel and spend the winter guzzling strong wine? (donā€™t do that)

ConcernedApe the one man development whirlwind bringing us Stardew Valley has posted another development update. The post covers the addition of flowers and the updated art for tools and player animations.

The game is looking very polished and I can't wait to try this when it ships. As always, when a launch date is announced I will let you know.

Eric Barone, creator of Stardew Valley just Tweeted that Stardew Valley was Greenlit on Steam. Now the upcoming 2D Community Retro Farming Sim will be coming to a familiar platform.

He also dropped a bit of a status update on the games progress as well:

"Still in dev, but I am on a grind to get this game finished, without skimping on anything. I'll let u know soon as I can about release date!"

From the recent Twitch streams I have seen the game looks incredible and am really looking forward to its eventual release. Thanks to everyone that voted.

ConcernedApe just posted a pretty lengthy update about changes he recently made to the upcoming, Stardew Valley.

"Iā€™ve been doing a big ā€œmonth and a half of graphicsā€, and Iā€™m finally about done with it. A lot of what Iā€™ve been doing has involved redrawing or touching up older sprites that I wasnā€™t happy with. The old stuff was passable, but I am so much happier with the new, and I think it really does help breathe life into the valley. Itā€™s funny how a seemingly trivial graphical detail can excite the imagination and evoke a sudden thrill, drawing you into the game world on a much deeper level."

The new art looks very good and I urge you to head over to the blog and... Read All

Eric Barone has been hard at work on Stardew Valley since our interview with him a while back. I still am very excited about this game and want to let you know how its shaping up:

"Iā€™ve made a bunch of progress on character customization, and Iā€™d like to share some of the results with you! Above, you can see just a few of the many possible combinations for your character. After youā€™ve created your starting look, thereā€™s nothing stopping you from getting a haircut or changing your outfit in the future. Below is the unfinished character customization screen. You wonā€™t have access to all clothes when you first start your character, but over time youā€™ll be able to put... Read All

When I first saw the video for Stardew Valley I was excited. A retro styled farming game focusing on the local community, RPG elements and featuring *drumroll* 4 player co-op? Yes please. Since Harvest Moon I haven't seen much surface that advances this kind of game unless you count disappointments like Farmville, which I do not.

The folks behind Stardew Valley released a video showcasing more of the 4 player co-op and it looks epic and you should watch it right now:

In a world featuring the next Call of Duty shooter and game sequels that go to 11, its nice to see a game less world cataclysmically epic and something a bit more simple. Don't get... Read All
