Just came to post this. From what I've read, Linux and Mac are coming later, probably about a month later, because they couldn't get them working to the awesomeness that they wanted while focusing on other things as part of the update. I'm totally fine with that.

Yeah, the unfortunate thing is that you have to choose expert mode at world creation. I think the best way is to get to a good end game spot then make a new world.
It sounds like the expert mode stuff doesn't really kick in until hardmode (the mobs leveling up, ect). So I say expert mode. :D
If you're concerned about us getting our butts kicked, we can always allow bringing in supplies from our existing characters/worlds.

I'm not too sure. On my own, I'll probably not try out expert mode until I'm geared up. If we were together we'd probably have a better chance at surviving it than on our own. I don't think we're sure about when a server will be available due to waiting on TShock to update. Otherwise there is a new mutliplayer feature to try out. Maybe we'll be able to meet in the Cloud.
BTW, if you notice Terraria already has locked achievements. I'm still wondering what time 1.3 will be released. Will it be a midnight UTC release or for another time zone? If so, which? It's getting close to midnight here on the East Coast, but it's already Monday afternoon in Australia.

We will be making Whispers of Oblivion available to all players before the gameâs release, but prior to that, we will be providing early access to the Prologue missions with pre-purchase of the game. Look for more details sometime in July."
Excited for this to drop and this should be a nice pre-order bonus and eventual free set of missions for everyone to enjoy.

It would be good to know! I think I'd like to pre-order the digital (perhaps collector's) version. I do have discs for the other two, though and they're Standard Edition (or whatever). I intend to replay the StarCraft II upon or with its release. I've only played through the other two once, but I remember it was cool and fun.

I haven't pre-ordered yet, but I'll give it some thought. I think originally, I bought the standard editions of both of the other pieces to SC2. I bought them at GameStop. I may have upgrade them, but I'm not sure. With Diablo RoS, I think I ended up getting the Digital Deluxe edition and maybe upgraded to Collector's. So, with this one, I'm wondering which edition to get, digital or disc and then which of the other editions. I think some of the bonuses are "nice," but I'm not sure whether or not they're worth the extra cost.

I'll be picking up the physical collectors edition. For D3 Reaper of Souls they announced the digital versions before the CE edition and this time I am happy to see they said the CE would be talked about later.
Love that Blizzard is including lots of downloadable a for other games too. Here is info from the Bliz site direct.
Also cool that Heart of the Swarm can be played stand alone now.

Awesome, awesome, and awesome. I figured you'd get the phsyical CE. I'm still not sure. I guess I've been playing a lot more digital games and have gotten used to them. They may take a while to download, but there's no scratching or losing discs. I don't mind not having the physical stuff that's just going to sit around some where. I guess it also depends on if I want to go to GameStop to get it (probably not a midnight release) or just have it installed when it's released. Then, I could play it right away. Do we have a release date or estimate for it or did I miss that some where?
jdodson Admin Post Author

No release date quite yet but they said "winter." The CE physical just comes with a DVD that simply points you to download the game. At least the last few I bought did. So... there is little reason to get it to save you bandwidth.
I get it for the art book, soundtrack, mouse pad, making it bluray & DVD + digital goodies. I really do like having that stuff around and pull them out from time to time to enjoy. I also listen to the soundtracks a ton so those are great to get.
Oh and I love the hell out of the Starcraft games too

Yeah, I got the CE version of RoS, but I didn't get any of that fancy stuff, because I had a digital copy. Still upgrading gave me a lot more character slots, which came in very handy. As for my SC2 discs, you're right, they seem to install stuff very briefly, the essentials to download the game. That extra stuff does sound awesome though.

It really was such a great game... But I bought it a year ago on my PC (through Steam) and it just felt clunky and dated. It turned into a fond memory of a game I decided to leave in the past. But this looks really great. I'd love to play through it again, and this might finally be a reason to.

You can add vault dwellers by people randomly showing up to be let in or by your vault dwellers shacking up and making babies. Vault dwellers can shack up(if they are not related) and have a high enough Charisma to get things moving. After you get your Vault up and running you can send people out to scour the wasteland looking for guns, armor and caps.
I think the game balances the free to play aspect to not be annoying or soul crushingly slow. When you build a room it's instant and many things require no waiting at all. That said, at it's core it is a waiting game but it isn't bad.
If you have iOS you need to try Fallout Shelter. If you've played it, drop your thoughts, tips and vault screenshots in the comments.
So far, I have found a few tricks that you might find useful:
When your vault explorer comes back, they are invincible so you don't need to send them back at half health. (Learned this the hard way)
Early on I paired up my couples with one person because they had un naturally high Charisma so I could get it done fairly quickly. This led to a later problem of most of my vault kids being related. Ensure you keep diversity in your vault pairings and offspring.
You get a boat load of Lunchboxes early on, which is great. After your initial hit you get MUCH less so send out vault explorers to collect guns, armor and extra caps.
Focus on a strong economy before you get a ton of extra buildings going. After your economy is strong, get a med bay and science station so you can equip your explorers with enough stimpacks and radaways.

I have a bad run of women with low charisma. The pickup lines are atrocious. "You're like cholesterol, always messin' with my heart." OMG.
I decided to restart on iPad, unfortunately that means I lost Star Paladin Cross, but that game is always there if I want to go back. I read she's the second best unlock in the game, and I got her on the first lunchbox I opened.
I can't remember if I said it over text or on CG somewhere, but I had trouble in my first game with having things built poorly, and I found out one reason-- in the intro you HAVE to block off one room since you don't have access to elevators during the training. This time I blocked off one of the living quarters and just built another one, since the upgrades for that matter less than with the resource management rooms.
I'm not on it every day, so I keep forgetting about my explorers, then they die. Then I have to pay to resurrect them, which leaves me with less money to expand my vault. The moral: play the addicting game every day!
Yeah just be sure you pull them back when you're done for the day or they're basically guaranteed to die. But I've seen some people who have had their explorers out for days, after giving them 20 stimpaks and radaways.
It's amazing how well explorers are at taking care of themselves, but put them in a cafeteria and they'll die in no time if you aren't paying attention to them.
I made a new vault to try something out I read about. If you never turn in the "sell one weapon or outfit" and "equip one dweller with a weapon" goals (you can sell things and equip them, just don't claim the rewards) the third goal will keep alternating between "collect 50 water," "collect 50 food," and "level up one dweller." About 2/3 of the time it will give you a lunch box. So over about two hours I opened 50 lunch boxes or so. It's pretty incredible watching all that loot roll in.
Bethesda talked for quite a while about Fallout 4 last night. The gameplay demo is embedded above. And how amazing it is!

There's going to be a companion app for iOS and Android that lets you use your Pip Boy on your mobile device while you play. The collectors edition will even come with a pip boy arm attachment for that extra level of immersion. Cosplayers rejoice!
One huge thing for me was building your settlements. It seems like a seamless process to add new structures and customize/fortify your settlement. There will be raider attacks you have to defend, and you can bring in merchants and other NPCs. Crafting weapon attachments is improved immensely over Fallout: New Vegas.
In addition, Fallout Shelter is a new game on iOS and Android and it's out now for iOS. An Android release will come later. It's kinda like the Sims meets FTL meets Progress Quest (apparently, I've never played PQ) meets XCom. You are the overseer and have to build your vault and keep your residents healthy and happy. I've played a couple hours of it and it's a fun time-waster.
There are a ton of details I didn't mention, just hitting the most interesting ones, but the video will give you all you need to know and this reddit post has you covered for all the details if you don't want to watch the game in action for some reason. https://www.reddit.com/r/Fallout/comments/39vhog/what_we_know_summary/
Dude, mods from the PC will be able to be played on the Xbox One version! And now with Xbox's backwards compatibility, I might have to get one now. (I have a lot of Xbox games collecting dust right now)

Whoa, that's a significant step. AFAIK no mods have been playable on consoles without either significant save file hacking for small mods, or hacking the console and installing them.

This goes back to the PC vs console debate somewhat. PC's will always have the potentially to have better looking games, but consoles will generally just work.

You might be right, Travis, but GTAV gave me doubts about my system. Luckily, disabling high res shadows fixed the issue I had and it ran smoothly after that, that was the only setting I did not allow to be optimized by Geforce Experience. Do we have the game's system requirements yet?
You're right, Adam, pretty much. First of all, when I say the game looks great, I mean that in a broader sense than just the graphics. I like the idea of using all that junk you find to craft or mod gear and even a place to live. I think that's awesome! Deathclaws are now even scarier! I hope they get nerfed! I also like how the dog companion is improved. I also like that Bethesda confirmed and dispelled some rumors about the game. For instance, we now know that you can indeed play as a male or female, contrary to a supposed leak.
Travis Admin Post Author
wrote on 06/15/2015 at 09:03pm
Yep, that leak may have been true at the time, because a lot of things that are significant changes to Bethesda's normal style did check out, but they definitely changed their mind about a lot of stuff if it was true to begin with.
"Whoa, that's a significant step. AFAIK no mods have been playable on consoles without either significant save file hacking for small mods, or hacking the console and installing them."
You could download mods on the PS3 version of UT3 which was really great. Not sure if you can do it now but I downloaded a ton of maps and stuff and I think I still have it on my PS3 hd. But yeah, that kind of thing is really rare.
I will be playing this on PC for sure, my hope is that it will look good in 720p mode but it may not. I'd rather not update my PC to play it as it runs mostly anything I throw at it just fine now but I don't play anything super next gen in terms of graphics.

The mods are also coming to PS4! Just later than Xbox One because everything has to be a timed exclusive these days.
TBH I hope this means all the people that follow you can't be killed. It sucks when you herp derp something and lose your follower and have to re-load to get them back. Why would anyone want a follower to die ever?
Travis Admin Post Author

Fallout: New Vegas didn't allow any followers to die unless you played on Hardcore. In a later patch, the health of your followers in Fallout 3 was buffed as to make them near invincible. I unloaded 5 fat man rounds into Fawkes and it barely dented him/her.

I just finished watching the Bethesda E3 showcase and I can safely say it was the best E3 show i've ever seen. Bethesda kicked things off showing a ton of new gameplay from the upcoming Doom game and it looks incredible. Shotguns, blood and demon face punching look incredible and I can't wait to play it.
What do you think, are you read to head back to hell in Doom?
I want to be honest, the game looks so brutal I kind of feel bad for the demons....

Some people seem to think the new Doom game is too violent. I will give them one thing, the new Doom game is pretty violent, shockingly so but that's one reason why it looks so fun. smile
I often agree with Anita but on this issue, I really don't. I don't find a problem with violence in video games and when I hear criticism like this I think Doom should double down and add in more. I am also glad that we live in a country where people can create and buy what they wish.
Doom and other "too violent" games got tons of flak in the 90s as Doom was labeled by some to be a "murder simulator." I guess when stuff pushes the edges some people won't be comfortable with that, which doesn't mean it's wrong. I think the big difference here is that no one is calling to ban these games which they were in the 90's.
Violent video games shouldn't be all there is, but Doom is so over-the-top violent, it's almost a parody of violence. There's nothing realistic about the methods and amount of gore produced. It's funny, and it's fun.

Two new Heroes are coming to Hearthstone in Medivh and Alleria Windrunner. Combined with the new Tavern brawl, Blizzard is creating a pretty large Hearthstone update.
I wonder when we might see a new Adventure? If we did, what kinds of new cards or card mechanics would you like to see?
The new Heroes are $10 or $20 each and they don't seem to have a gold value. That may change in time, but I don't see a need for them now, for me anyway.
I've seen people with the backs of cards that were different than mine and wondered what kind of cards those were. It seems we can now customize them.
I've apparently never been on while the Tavern was open.
The Tavern will be opening for the first time today in about 20 mins! I'm really excited to see what it's like :)

I'm 1 for 3. I quit after I won so I could open my new pack. That's the second pack I've earned recently, the first spectating your win (a daily quest). I think I got some good cards, which is good because I get tired of seeing the same originals all the time. Now I wonder, when I should re-customize my decks. It's been a while. I've been working on getting my Heroes leveled up and gold cards in the process. Depending on the hero, I do normal practice or re-fight some of the Naxxramas bosses. I also do the class challenges. I still don't have one hero that I use all the time. I just go from left to right, top to bottom, when leveling. As for the dailies, I just pick one of the ones that's listed, if the daily requires winning with a certain hero.

The Brawl is fun but the cards are so overpowered I am not sure how balanced it is. I guess one could translate that to "ITS SO DIFFERENT" but yeah, it's a lot of fun and wildly so.

For me, the game never worked in my browser, but it worked in Steam. I tried Chrome and Firefox, with an incognito thrown in to make sure it wasn't an extension. Dunno what's going on there.
But we're back to the situation we discussed in the roundtable. Any game I would buy, I already have. Except GTAV which is on sale today for half off, but I don't know for sure my computer would run it well, and there's no demo. It isn't even easily piratable apparently.

I didn't play the game, but I read about it. There are a ton of games that are on sale! No many caught my attention, but I ended up following some. The Quake pack is tempting, for one thing.
A few other games that I picked up for dirty-dirt cheap:
Sir, You Are Being Hunted
Grim Legends: The Forsaken Bride
Aeon Command
Might possibly pick up one, maybe two of the following:
Valkyria Chronicles
Tales from the Borderlands
Metro: Redux
Legend of Grimrock II
Hand of Fate
eeh...pretty much anything on my wishlist.
The Monster Game is a much better idea than previous Steam Sale gimmicks. The entire community working together to unlock games is more in the spirit of what a Steam Sale is all about (i.e. it's basically Christmas). One of the sales that is unlocking from this first round is for a game called Creeper World III: Arc Eternal, which looks kind of amazing. It's already on sale for under $5. Maybe, probably...definitely will pick that one up.
I'm considering Valkyria Chronicles. This is after playing through twice on PS3. That game is a masterpiece.

The Witcher trilogy is available together for just less than $60. A friend recently got The Witcher III for his XBox One and said it was good. The video I saw yesterday made me think that it is a game I'd most likely enjoy. It seems to be a lot like Skyrim, which to me is a plus. The Assassin's Creed games are on sale, too. I have another friend who's talked a lot about those games and enjoys them. That's tempting to pick up, but I think I'd like to play a demo first. I may, later, look up some game demos on the PS3 for different games I've thought of playing which don't seem to have a Steam demo. Dragon Age: Inquisition is one of those games. It seems to be popular and good, but I think I'd like to try it out first. I'm still not sure how I feel about Origins.
Lately I've been playing Hearthstone and Guild Wars 2. I kind of want to play something different. I *really* want to play Terraria 1.3, but still have a couple of weeks to go. So, I might find something else to fill in that time.
My favorit part of the Steam Sale: making money! I've been playing the clicker game briefly on my phone (not a fantastic experience on my phone), and I've earned Steam cards that have been selling for 10 cents each. It's not much, but it's always fun to get paid for nothing.
Now to figure out Bitcoins...

You two are having a different experience than I am. I haven't played the sale game yet, but I bought some games! =) I decided to go with The Witcher Trilogy and I'm playing them in order. Combat took a little figuring out/getting used to, but I think I have it just about mastered now. I'm enjoying it. Essentially, it seems that I paid for a slightly discounted Witcher 3 and got the other two games for free.
Looking back at old posts about the games, I found that Travis mentioned Burnout Paradise in one. I played one of the Burnout games a few years ago and thought it was cool. Since BP was only $10, I went ahead and got it.
Is anyone else picking up some games? Feel free to check my trading cards and offer trades. I have 1, 4, 5, and 7 of 10. I have an extra 5 and 7.
Valkyria Chronicles came back down to $4.99. *whew! I was hoping it would dip lower, and instead it went higher. But now it's back. I know you guys were worried. It's all good.
Anyone blitzing today, or did we all get what we wanted from this slashfest?

Having bought the Witcher Trilogy (bundle) and Burnout Paradise, I've already bought more games than usual at one time. I don't mind though, I saved some money and believe I got some good games (so far I've only played The Witcher). This is probably the first Steam sale I've really taken advantage of and I'm not sure if I'm done. I'm tempted to get Jurassic Park and maybe the Assassin's Creed games.
I have literally not bought anything this time around. I'm cool with that. I have enough to keep me going for a while. I'll hold off til the Christmas sale. :)

Me too Travis. I could spend the next year replaying stuff

I think I'm good now. I have 4 games to play and for now that's plenty. I'd like to investigate Assassin's Creed some more and perhaps figure out this demo on the PS3. Jurassic Park seems like a good game from the reviews, but it's also short. It sounds like it's worth it's value now that it's on sale, though.

In fact, this year I came out of the sale with more money in my Steam wallet than when I started. I sold off all my trading card doubles as well as each 2015 Summer Sale card I received. Now I have $1.68 and if I keep selling cards a bit at a time I might have enough to buy an extra copy of Terraria or something small.

Brazilian game company Behold Studios recently launched Chroma Squad on Steam after a successful Kickstarter. They were kind enough to give me a review copy and after my initial few hours with the game I can say that if you were excited about a Power-Rangers inspired Sim, your excitement wasn't misplaced! The game focuses on a group of stunt people that are unhappy working on their current show and decide to strike out and make their own. The game features fun turn based team gameplay where good strategy is rewarded with more fans of your show and money. Each mission is tied together with a story that is light hearted and engaging.

I hit up Behold Studios to see if I could ask them questions about the game and I want to thank Saulo for getting back to me. The game is great on PC and I think it's will be a good fit when it comes out on tablets too.
jdodson: Chroma Squad was Kickstarted and recently dropped on Steam. How are you feeling right now after the game has launched and people have had a chance to play it?
Saulo Camarotti: Chroma Squad is a 2 year project, and after so long we are extremely happy to be able to launch it. The feedback from the community is great so far. We're receiving tons of compliments and words of excitement. To be able to make people happier make us feel whole.
jdodson: In the movie Interstellar by director Christopher Nolan CASE says the ships spin rate needs to be 68 revolutions per minute to dock. When the ship is shown it is spinning at MAYBE 20 revolutions per minute. What kind of space shenanigans does Christopher Nolan expects us to believe? That this is some kind of magic spaceship? I really hope someone got fired for that blunder. This wasnât really a question.
Saulo Camarotti: The thing is: Interestelar is a fiction. You can't expect that everything should be real. ;) Top 5 movies of all time for me.
jdodson: Are you planning any future updates to Chroma Squad? Also wondering if you will be porting it to any new platforms?
Saulo Camarotti: Yeah! The new version is coming for Tablets with some big changes to gameplay from some core elements, like Mecha Fights and Marketing. In the end of the year, we are also planning for the Console version of the game: Playstation and Xbox.
jdodson: When you have been playing Chroma Squad what parts have you been most happy with?
Saulo Camarotti: We really love the jokes. It's fun to read and have a laugh at something we've created. The best thing is that the game is making people feel happy.
jdodson: Portland has a pretty large Indie game scene with many new people starting the process of making games. I wonder what advice you have for people just getting started making games?
Saulo Camarotti: Never stop making games. You don't need a studio, or a team, or money, or anything else to make games right now. Grab your computer, create a work routine, make plans, start working. And aim for the end of the project. When a new game is released, start working on something new. That's how it goes. In less than 5 games you'll be making some good games already.
jdodson: What games are you all (the team) playing right now?
Saulo Camarotti: We've been playing a lot of games lately. But i've played "Papers, Please", "Stanley Parable", "Cities Skyline"... all good games so far.
jdodson: Now that Chroma Squad is out whatâs next for Behold Studios
Saulo Camarotti: We're working on some new things for Chroma Squad and the port for other platforms as well. We're also working on a new game, but it's a secret for now.
jdodson: Care to drop any hints about the next Behold game?
Saulo Camarotti: Hm, it will be awesome!
Chroma Squad is available on PC, Mac and Liunux for sale right now on Steam and GOG.
Just came to post this. From what I've read, Linux and Mac are coming later, probably about a month later, because they couldn't get them working to the awesomeness that they wanted while focusing on other things as part of the update. I'm totally fine with that.
Awesome!
New Terraria 1.3 change log: http://forums.terraria.org/index.php?threads/1-3-changelog.20617/
That's a hell of a change log.
Hoooly crap, that is insane. So when are we firing up the server again? We have to do the expert mode!
Ooh good point. Expert mode or normal mode at the start? Votes?
I'd say normal at start, expert later. I think exploring the new content will be a ride enough for a while until we get to "end game."
It's usually (I think) midnight PST, where Valve is located. So Monday night or Tuesday morning, depending how you look at it, at 3AM Eastern.
