Experience the original smash-hit adventure on the NES! Ganon, the King of Evil, has broken free of the Dark World and has captured Hyrule's beloved Princess Zelda. But, before she was caught, Zelda managed to shatter the Triforce of Wisdom and scatter its eight pieces throughout Hyrule. You begin your adventure by finding a small wooden sword in a dark cave. Then, as you grow in stature, experience, and strength, so do your weapons. Help Link collect the captured pieces of the Triforce, rescue the princess, and thwart Ganon’s evil plans!

Awesome Link comic I read on Dorkly today I wanted to share. Funny, sad and true all at the same time.

Don't walk away Link, you need to save Hyrule... again.

Take a peek at a capture of a segment from the original Legend of Zelda Manual. This was one of the first open world games I played and it blew my mind with its awesomeness. Hoping the new Zelda game Link Between Worlds really brings back some of the old magic these early games had.

Just watched an awesome fan video called "Link to the Future." It starts off as a pretty reasonable Zelda fan film and then Doc. Brown shows up with a DeLorean. You heard me, now watch it, watch it now.

Some mad entrepreneur decided to model all the items from the original Legend of Zelda and 3D print them and offer them for sale. Its cool though, the entire set will only set you back a minor $300 because, you know, plastic. These are cool as hell and I would have snatched them up in a second but dat price is a bit to strong.

Checkout the site Hyrule Foundry if you want to read a bit about how they were made.

"Earlier this week, I read about that awesome dad who edited Donkey Kong to let his daughter play as the Princess. I wished I had someone who could have done that for me. Then I remembered. I'm an adult now. If he could work it out, I could too.

I'm hobbyist animator and my boyfriend is a professional video game programmer. I sent him the article and I asked, "How do I do this?"

"I think he's just using an existing rom editor, so he just went in and changed the sprites."

"I want to switch around Link and Zelda."

That got his attention. We'd been talking about a Zelda-centric game ever since the first Tropes vs Women in Games video was released. He's a huge fan of the... Read All

Legend of Zelda Sundial of Shadows is a VERY unique fanimation set in the Zelda universe. They totally nail the feel of Zelda for me and each frame evokes dat nostalgia. That said, if you are turned off by more art house or Anime, then this isn't your jam.

Episode 2 is a nice continuation of Episode 1 but doesn't spend time following the events of episode 1, it takes a step backward and provides a bit more back story. It reveals little, but allows the viewer to see a bit more of the universe it so eloquently builds. I like the style of this series quite a bit and can't wait to see it unfold a little bit at a time.

I recommend you watch episode one:

Very interesting new fan animation released recently called "Sundial of Shadows." The first episode features two characters and takes its time building up the tone and feel of the series. Styled heavily on Zelda Ocarina of Time, the series forgoes voice acting for the text style of the game.

Very interesting start to the series and as such am looking forward to where the show is headed.

A few people have been tipping me to this and because of that feel I need to share it with you all as well. Hyrule Historia is a book that I talked about a few months ago that recently dropped that has been getting some really positive reviews.

"Dark Horse Books and Nintendo team up to bring you The Legend of Zelda: Hyrule Historia, containing an unparalleled collection of historical information on The Legend of Zelda franchise. This handsome hardcover contains never-before-seen concept art, the full history of Hyrule, the official chronology of the games, and much more! Starting with an insightful introduction by the legendary producer and video-game designer of Donkey... Read All

This cartoon totally nails how I felt going to Toys R Us to get a Nintendo game. Walking down the aisle, looking at all the boxes and picking that one game I obsessed over until my next birthday.

Thanks Mom!

Mark this down as things I just recently found out about that now alter my Christmas list. Hyrule Historia is an upcoming joint venture by Dark Horse Comics and Nintendo that outline the history of Hyrule and seem to tackle its history. Relevant snip from the Amazon product page:
