It's kinda weird to see world events in a single-player game. I'm wondering how that will play out.

Non cynical take:
We are part of an always connected era of gaming. Forget the notion of always online DRM although that exists, but for games to stay relevant players need to come back. One way to do this is with always online F2P like Fortnight or with single player games that are always different like Stardew Valley or The Binding of Issac. It keeps the discussion lively with the game and gives developers incentive to keep making stuff for it.

Rage 2 is an open world shooter and they are staggering free content and world events to keep beating the games marketing drum, and it’s a cool idea. I hope it works because if single player games are to stay lucrative, which is to say economically relevant they need to find a way forward and this seems fine to me.

Plus I see people bashing what Rage 2 is doing but it’s all optional and ignorable if people want to disconnect their network cards before they play. (Not saying this is you Travis)
I hadn't seen any bashing of it and I don't really know why you'd bash it before seeing what it's all about. It's an interesting idea to make dynamic content in a (mostly) static game.

I'm subscribed to the official Rage 2 twitter feed. Read the responses sometime. Or not, they won't enrich your life but do provide a glimpse into how some people think i'd rather not be friends with.

What's interesting me so far is the critic reviews are slightly worse for this than the first game. I played and enjoyed the first one but after the complaints I'd heard I assumed the critic reviews were poor as well, but they weren't.

Yeah, some seem to really enjoy it but others seem to dislike the lack of it feeling like a lived-in world. Huh. Guess I'll know what I think soon.

I'm surprised we haven't gotten a teaser or anything yet. So many rumors back at the end of 2018 and we kinda thought, yeah it's about time for it I guess.
