So yeah, I have a huge weakness for Star Wars and as such want to own them all. If Disney relaunched the unedited original trilogy i'd buy them yet again so it's not a huge leap to get The Force Awakens on BluRay when it ships in April. Today Disney dropped information about that launch and The Force Awakens will be released first on digital April 1st and on BluRay on April 5th. For the digital platforms that support special features and barring a Target BluRay exclusive the digital and BluRay version seem to come with the same amount of special features. If you are interested in all the information on the release check the Disney link below.

Are you going to pick up the Force Awakens and if so how? Curious what you all plan to do. For me come April 5th i'll be grabbing the BluRay at Target for the extra 20 minutes of behind the scenes goodness.

Argh, I hate retailer specific features....

Ugh, seriously. Screw retailer-exclusive stuff. I want that BB-8 cover but I'll be getting the extra 20 minutes.

I agree. At least they don't spread out special features over a few retailers. Still, exclusives are The Dark Side of marketing. smile

I got my blu-ray pre-ordered from amazon.

Considering that my 3D experience of this movie was bad and that I still really enjoyed it with my son, I think I will pick it up. Also, seeing as how I'm an Amazon Prime member, pre-ordering from Amazon sounds like the way to go. Thanks for letting us know about this!

So excited for this. I'm intentionally putting off watching Daredevil S2 and Batman V Superman until the weekend before Force Awakens releases, so that I can better manage the excitement.

Hahaha, that sounds good. I am really looking forward to the special features myself. I also plan on watching IV, V, VI and then VII to see how well that works. Wondering if it holds up as far as tone to the originals in a viewing over a couple days.

scrypt   Supporter wrote on 03/26/2016 at 11:59pm

That's a good idea. You'll have to post your conclusion. I think I only have IV available with me, or I'd join in on that, too ;).

Travis   Admin wrote on 03/27/2016 at 06:07am

I did that before I saw it the first time, but I'm not sure that's an accurate representation. I definitely need a marathon run, ending in VII.
