General Discussion
The place for conversation that doesn't make sense to talk about in any specific game in our list. Think of General Discussion as a "catch all" for conversations about gaming, game culture or anything else worth sharing.
How better to spend your time in quarantine than listening to us talk about the next generation of consoles? We dive into the next generation and talk about what Microsoft and Sony might bring to the table. But first, we update you all on how we've been coping with the pandemic and all the stuff we've been playing and watching.
āArmageddon is days away and weāve lost the Antichrist,ā says the demon Crowley, which sets up the basic premise of Good Omens. Good Omens was just a book written by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman that I read about 20 years ago. Now, as of 2019, itās a TV series on Amazon Prime Video, which contains only six episodes. Iām not familiar with the rest of the cast, but Iām aware of David Tennant, who once played The Doctor in Doctor Who. I really like him and he plays my definitively favorite character in this series, Crowley. Crowley dresses in black, has red hair, which is some times long, wears sun glasses, even at night, listens to Queen a lot, and drives a 90 year...
The RetroTINK creators have released a new version called the RetroTINK 2X-Pro that is an upscaler/line doubler for retro consoles with analog, s-video and component inputs with an output to HDMI. Metal Jesus puts the new TINK through it's paces and it does quite well with a very minimal amount, if any noticeable lag. The TINK is an essential option if you want to plugin your old consoles to a modern television and only have HDMI on your TV to work with. That and the TINK is also great to convert old console video signals to HDMI for capture the video or streaming to Twitch.
The RetroTINK 2X-Pro is $140 brand new and is currently sold out. At the time I wrote this...

The episode you've all been waiting for, the scheduling-around-holidays-is-hard-but-we're-back-now episode! It's been a little while but we're back to talk about all the cool stuff we've been playing and watching since we last graced your podcast app of choice. Plus our Christmas gaming loot, and an update on Tale of the White Wyvern development!
I geek out over superhero movies, and this camera test just dropped for The Batman.
I didn't think we needed another Batman movie... but we probably always will lol.
This is very simple, but looks so rad!

This is the kind of episode that only comes once every decade. We cover our favorite games from the 2010s, and if you've been paying attention, some of these will be expected. But which one will take the top spot for each of us? Listen and find out!
Since speedrunning is often topic on Cheerful Ghost, and we run Speedrunning competitions at the Portland Retro Gaming Expo, I figure this is a fitting video :)
It covers the history of speedrunning, from the super old school "demo" days of Doom to the current Games Done Quick.

I thought I'd share with you some of my most favorite gaming channels on YouTube. Please feel free to let me know if you're also a fan of these channels, too. Also, share your favorites with me in the comments!
I've mentioned Paul Soares Jr. before in my posts on here. His was one of the first channels I started watching years ago. I've watched all of his Minecraft Survive & Thrive series, I've even watched some of them multiple times. I believe he's the first to have posted a Minecraft tutorial on YouTube. He's featured in the Minecraft documentary I've shared in a Minecraft post. He is also one of the few who brought Ark: Survival Evolved to my attention. I've...

The first trailer to Black Widow is out!
I'm still a little worried that this will suffer a similar fate as Rogue One and Solo for (prequels where we know the ultimate outcome, thus making the stakes for the main character not as high, because ultimately they live), but I am more excited for this than I thought I would be.
Maybe because I'm in the middle of a Winter Soldier rewatch (as I'm rewatching it, I honestly wonder if I ever actually saw it? It feels like the first time I'm seeing scenes in it lol), but I'm just lately getting into Nat's character. Endgame was sad for her, but wasn't *that* sad to me, but I bet next time I watch Endgame, it'll hit even harder...

It's been a dream for decades, but it's now a reality: a live-action Star Wars TV series, The Mandalorian. In this episode, we discuss the first three episodes, how we see the series progressing, and how The Mandalorian might play into other Star Wars properties.
I heard the new consoles will feature ray tracing. I also saw something about the PS5 will probably have limited stock during it's first year.
But..... #PCMasterRace!
I'll have to listen to this soon. I realized the other day that I have no idea what the current consoles are, nor what's coming next lol
@AdamPFarnsworth Gigaflops!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f-77xulkB_U
I had a feeling I knew what that youtube link was going to be before I clicked it.
Glad to know I was right! :D
Actually, I meant teraflops as you can see here: https://www.polygon.com/2020/3/31/21187430/ps5-xbox-series-x-specs-comparison-next-gen Here's a brief article with an included video about what's a teraflop: https://www.polygon.com/2016/6/14/11932910/what-is-a-teraflop-explainer I think it's a different calculation than what I'm used to seeing regarding GPUs and CPUs where they're measured in megahertz or gigahertz. In a way, I kind of feel like "teraflops" is a bit of a "buzz word" to make the new consoles sound super amazing (and they may very well be). I haven't dived into their details as my interest in them isn't great, but I'm glad they're finally getting SSDs, Since I got one last summer, I realized just how awesome they are, if for nothing else other than greatly speeding up the load time from power off to desktop (at least in my Windows 10 experience). So, at least just being where the OS resides, it can give a dramatic performance increase. I think this is perhaps the single most important hardware upgrade someone could make to make their PC feel faster or notably improved
LOL! Yeah, I think we all knew what that YouTube link was going to be ;)
I've listened to about half the podcast, and I'm glad that it sounds like everyone's doing as well as can be expected!
Also, as far as what I'm watching, some good trash on Netflix is The Circle (so far I've watched the original and Brazil, and now I'm watching France).
It's the perfect show right now, as we really are living in The Circle.
The killer feature im hoping will go well is streaming. My company (engineering/architectural) has moved to 90% virtual machines using Workspots (Microsoft Azure). I am drawing complex 3D models, and aside from a few hiccups when rolling out the new computers, my virtual experience is better than when I worked on my local computer in my office. I hope Microsoft is able to utilize what they've learned in Workspot, and really nail the streaming environment. I've not bought a system since the Wii U, but if I could get a high-powered game streaming service, I might look at getting back into hard-core gaming.
I think Microsoft will have some really interesting with Game Pass. Or at least I hope it will.
I think you accidentally a word
Some really interesting...?
;)
I ACCIDRNTLY NO
I will probably get the Xbox Series X first. I have the OG Xbox One and it is a little sluggish playing Fallen Order. I want to upgrade to a One X, but I figure it is best to wait for the Series X.

Yeah gotta love those gfycat random names. I think it's always two adjectives and an animal.
Thatās way more fun than some random hexadecimal
