Cheerful Ghost Radio
Cheerful Ghost Radio is a postcast from the Cheerful Ghost community about interesting stuff in gaming and other various bits of nerdery. Newest episodes at the top.
The power of Netflix shows keeps rolling and Stranger Things 2 is a fun testament to how great steaming shows can be. We talk about the new season, compare it to the first one and talk about where weād like the show to go next.
Apparently we all had time to watch the latest Marvel mega-hit Thor Ragnarok. Jon seems to have a huge crush on Chris Hemsworth so the episode may be worth listening to for that alone. Where do we think Marvel films should go next and what are we excited for in the upcoming Infinity War film? Spoilers abound but we draw the mark about halfway through the show.
Retro games are everywhere, but is it a good thing people are focusing so much on the past? We talk about that and open up the show as we always do, discussing what weāve been playing and watching and then move straight into a mini review of the ultra fun Steam Indie short Superflight! How much of your gaming diet is Retro gaming or are you simply focused on the latest and greatest? Let us know what you think in the comments!
On this episode of Cheerful Ghost Radio, we celebrate the tenth anniversary of Valve's Orange Box by talking about what the games mean to us, then we discuss how our feelings about DRM have changed over the years. Are we in a DRMPocalypse, or DoesitReallyMatter?
In this episode of Cheerful Ghost Radio we talk about the original Blade Runner, totally nerd out overthe new Star Wars: The Last Jedi trailer, and then discuss the new trend of loot boxes in games. Spoiler alert: we arenāt fans of loot boxes in most single player games.
On this episode of Cheerful Ghost radio, we discuss a bunch of topics that we couldn't get into the previous episode, including the news that Nintendo is shipping more SNES Classic and NES Classic units than previously planned, JJ Abrams returning to direct Star Wars: Episode IX, Age of Empires IV, and Humble Bundle hitting $100 million in charity donations!

I am very excited to let you know that Cheerful Ghost Radio is now available for you to subscribe to on iTunes, Google Play, Stitcher & Soundcloud, and more to come soon! We wanted to wait to publish the show more broadly until we had a good amount of episodes "in the can" and with the release of "Episode 5 - Epistle 3 Story Time" we felt it was time to push the button.
If you have access to iTunes, the Apple Podcast App, Google Play or Stitcher I ask that you head over, subscribe and rate the show and leave a comment. Those comments and ratings really help us reach a wider audience and that's something we'd love to see the show get more of. We think the show is...

On this episode of Cheerful Ghost Radio, we talk about the Switch getting better third party support, and ponder whether the Switch is the Nintendo console of our dreams. Then, we discuss Epistle 3, the plot summary Mark Laidlaw released of what Half Life 2: Episode 3 might have been.
Netflix dropped a new show based on the classic Castlevania series and in this episode we break it down for you to easily digest. Does Castlevania elevate the spate of terrible video game shows and movies or is it something else? The show contains some mild show spoilers so we recommend you watch it before listening. Don't worry the show is only four episodes and well worth watching!
In this episode of Cheerful Ghost Radio we discuss Jonās recent disappointment in losing his Super Nintendo Classic pre-order and all the games we are looking forward to playing this year. We round things off by talking about Luke Skywalker's Cane and our theories about Star Wars: The Last Jedi. As always, we start the show talking about what we are playing and watching and weāre interested in what you are playing too, so let us know in the comments!
No talk of Billy? What did you all think of him?
For me stranger things 2 is stranger things' aliens. You got more monsters, seemed more heavy on the action, plus Paul Reiser.
ST2 was on par with the 1st season for me. I definitely like the demogorgon better than smoke monster, but ST2 had some better character dynamics. I really liked Dustin & Steve in season 2, they were my favorite.
I also liked that they are expanding the show outside of Hawkins. 11 having her yoda like moment with 8 was a lot of fun. I can't wait to see if they introduce other numbered kids with powers. What powers should they have, if they do?
Speaking of numbered kids, was 11's mom, the first one with powers? Did she get them naturally, or were they from some sort of experiment?
If you all haven't watched Beyond Stranger Things, I would suggest you do so. There is a lot of good talk about the show in that show.
Minor spoilers in this comment...
I didn't think much at all about Billy. I had to look him up to remember that there was even a character named Billy :D
With the exception of one or two scenes he was just character development for Max, which is fine. He clearly has issues that they may tackle in season 3. In fact I hope they do. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Max smack him down toward the end though.
I thought Billy was kind of one note until the end. He could have used a little bit more character development.
Billy was basically "what if Steve was a maniac." I liked him as a character. He definitely upped the ante as a wildcard human threat, especially the way he specifically targetted certain members of the party. I appreciate that they showed some of his motivation, why he was so aggressive, giving us moments to sympathize with him. I'm glad they didn't overuse him.
Billy was just ok. Although his scene with Karen was gold.
