Cheerful Ghost Roundtable

Thanks, Jon, for giving us all a fun space to hangout and share things we care about. Looking forward to the podcast format, and not being objectified by Googles screencap algorithm!

I'm wondering if I'm the only one that's going to miss the Roundtable. I like watching YouTube, so the Roundtable is convenient for me. I don't own any Apple products, so I've never even thought about podcasts.

Anyway, Terraria server!!!!! If we do one annually, we should do two this year since we missed last year. Hahaha We need to do Expert Mode!!

Sounds like it'll be easy to access. I realize you don't have to own an Apple product as there are various media players for a variety of formats. I'm sure WinAmp or VLC could play the podcasts, even if they weren't in MP3 format, I just haven't checked out podcasts before. Yes, I own an Android based Kindle and I now have an Android smartphone.

Well yeah, I did, but I thought that you could still listen to them with a compatible player (or one with the right plugins). The "pod" in "podcast" makes me think of Apple's iPod. I'm slightly familiar with people listening to podcasts on iPods or something, but I've never listened to any.

There were so many Netflix shows mentioned in this one. Could someone put a list of them here? Perhaps we should keep a collection of recommended Netflix shows. I'm thinking about checking it out.

Courtny and I just started going through The OA. We're about 4 episodes in and I'm thoroughly confused and intrigued in equal measure. It's good even through I'm constantly asking WTF.

It's totally fine. I just think it's funny, some of the scenes it decides to capture. ;)

I skipped out on this because I didn't bother to ask if it was going to be spoiler-free, I just assumed it wouldn't be. So, I'll ask before watching, was it? I'm interested in the Cheerful Ghost opinion of it. Did you all like it? I mean, I am a rare one that enjoyed the prequels, so I'll probably like it. LOL

Doh! I just saw in the post that this Roundtable is in two parts. I obviously didn't read that when I asked my question.

Thanks for the head's up and opinion, Travis. I'm kind of surprised by the "dark for Star Wars" comment, because I thought Episode III and VII were dark, but I didn't dislike them. But, that's 2 out of 7 movies, so that kind of barely makes the series "gray."

Hahaha if I was on the panel, that would be a +1 to Jon upping his beard game. I have one, too.

Good show, guys! Awesome to see you in there, Adam. Sorry I couldn't make it. I think you guys covered most of the things turning in my head, but there are a few things that came to mind after watching this and another review. I don't want to post spoilers, so I'm working on a supplemental that I'll try to post soon, or maybe something else entirely... O.o

I finally watched Rogue One and this Roundtable! I agree with you all that it was a good movie. I didn't have high expectations for it, in fact I was quite baffled with it right away (before seeing it) because we pretty much already know the plot and what happens. But, it was good. Travis said it was "dark" and after watching it, I can see that perspective. It certainly is! I was not expecting so much death. I liked that Death Star guy/commander who returned from the original trilogy. I didn't noticed he was CG. I also didn't noticed Leia at the end was CG, too. I did wonder how they got those people in the movie. They both looked fine at first glance, so I'll see how that holds up when I watch it again.

I liked the two characters that worked together, the blind guy, and that one with a huge gun. They were cool. Oh and I'm not very good with remembering Star Wars character names.

Comparing to The Force Awakens, I think I like Awakens more than Rogue One. I also like the Star Wars pre-sequels, probably more than anyone else I know. If I were to watch the Star Wars movies again, I'd probably start out with the pre-sequels, then Rogue One, and then the original trilogy. As for rating each movie, I don't know. They're all good to me.

I also watched Arrival, which was better than I expected. It was deep and quite different from other ET movies.

NX: I have a Wii U and right now I'm not sure if I'm going to buy Breath of the Wild for it or get an NX with it. I'm waiting to see what the NX actually is and if the game will be any different on the new system.

Thanks for mentioning Fringe! You've made it easy for me to decide what to watch next. I just finished watching Penn & Teller: Bullshit, which is a great show. Now I'm watching Fringe for the 2nd time, I don't know if I've seen the last two seasons. Perhaps I'll check out Alias next since I've never seen it, but I'm also thinking of watching The X-Files, Heroes, and Lost again (yes, I've seen all 3 once before).

So, is everyone in agreement that the Institute are the bad guys? I know Travis sided with them at least once to complete that end of story. That was the first ending I saw, because that's the side I chose. I don't think any of the groups are necessarily good or evil, I think it just depends on your perspective. I mean, yeah they're evil if you're the Brotherhood, but the Brotherhood is evil if you're the Institute. That was one thing I didn't particularly like, that once you get to a certain point in the game, you have to take sides. Even worse is that the endings really aren't all that different.

I thought Jon was being sarcastic (I can never tell!).

I played soccer for years, growing up. Then I got old and tried to play. I almost exploded my thighs, because the people I played with were NOT the casual players they said they were.

Apparently my memory glands exploded, too.

I was going to say that I can't think of any Fallout 4 questions, but I did...Who did you ally with? Who was your favorite companion? What place did you end up making your settlement? What's your favorite weapon(s)? How many times did you do those never-ending Minuteman missions? How many hours have you clocked? Did you find all locations, bobbleheads, and other extra stuff? What do you think about the game pretty much forcing you to choose sides?

As for Star Wars VIII, I think I agree with the rest of you. I'd like to see some character development. I'd also like some of the questions I had about VII answered. I think we all want to know who Rey's related to.

I also thought I'd point out how interesting I find it that some of us have been playing one game for half a year or more and we continue to play. Scrypt's game is Rocket League, Jon's is Hearthstone, and mine is Ark: Survival Evolved. I just think it's interesting. As for me, I do have plenty to say about Ark, still, and especially now that I've finally accepted an invitation to join an official server. So, I am playing with and against others. I enjoy the co-op aspect of it most and haven't gotten into the PVP part much. My tribe tries to remain neutral. Anyway, maybe more on that later.

BTW Pokemon *IS* cool! Gotta catch'em all!! Once I found out it was an RPG game, after having played some Final Fantasy games, I was hooked!

As I kinda mentioned, this is pretty much why I decided to see The Force Awakens. I wanted to join you guys and I was so glad that I was able to.

Sorry I was late, I was busying playing Ark. =) I finished with Fallout 4 and moved on to Legacy of the Void, but I've run into some difficulty and Ark came out with another seasonal event.

=) It was cool being able to watch the roundtable live and particpate. It took me a bit to figure out how to ask a question, but I obviously figured it out. I'd love to join again in the future!

I don't know about the "have enough games for the next couple of months." Ark is in development and is frequently updated, so that could continue to keep me occupied. I took a break from it to play Fallout 4, but then finished with that. Legacy of the Void keeps snagging me. I saw some of the games on sale, including the Star Wars bundle I mentioned, but I still don't know. I can't really think of anything I really want. I absolutely hate the feeling of finishing a game and moving on to something else, or rather especially when I don't know what to move on to. That creates a hole I seek to fill.
