From the "One Year Later" news" "[w]eโ€™ve been super hard at work on a very large update that changes and expands upon the progression system and itโ€™s nearly ready for unstable."

I'm looking forward to the large update! I'm hoping it's the big 1.0 version we've been waiting for. I did some testing of the "nightly builds," but it's been a while since I've played. While I was fully aware that the nightly builds weren't always stable and had their own bugs in them, after a while I decided to wait longer. There's only so many times you can go through character and world wipes and other bugs before you decide it's time to wait for a more stable release.

When Hyrule Warriors came out months again, I noticed that there were a few DLC packs available, so I purchased all of them. I was also able to get some of the DLC for free by registering the game at Club Nintendo. Some of the content includes different costume sets for various characters, one of which is a Dark Link costume for Link.

It seems as though some of the DLC wasn't available right away. I don't know if it was released at a later date or I had to accomplish some in-game goals to unlock them. I recently noticed more content was available such as playable characters, which mostly included the game's enemies. This also seemed to open up a new story-line in Legend Mode called "Cia's Tale," in which you can play as Cia, Wizzro, or Volga. I played as Cia and Wizzro, but have not yet tried to play as Volga. However, I did watch a video to help me get through one of the missions. In that video a the guy was playing Volga and was showing how powerful that character is.

Epona has made her debut in Hyrule Warriors as a "weapon." Selecting her as a weapon allows Link to fight on horseback for the selected mission. I'd also like to note here that I saw a picture of Epona as a kart in the new Legend of Zelda DLC pack for Mario Kart 8, even though i haven't seen her in-game yet.

With the recent release of Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U, Nintendo released the first set of amiibo figures. Functionality is expected to come to Hyrule Warriors very soon. The Link amiibo (which I purchased) will add a new weapon for Link, which is the Spinner from Twilight Princess. Other amiibo figures, like Zelda, will unlock weapons, rupee bonuses, and crafting materials. You can find details about compatible amiibo and their rewards here: https://www.nintendo.com/amiibo/games/detail/hyrule-warriors-wii-u/

I recently just started playing the game's "Adventure Mode," which I think is fun and interesting. In Adventure Mode, you are placed on a world map that comes from the very first Legend of Zelda game for the NES. Each square contains a battle and there are numerous rewards that can be received such as Heart Containers and Gold Skulltulas. There are also items, such as the Candle, that can be used to "search" an area of the map for hidden places. On one of places on the map, I found a tree that could be burned with the Candle, which unlocked a new reward. Some of the rewards are given based upon the rank you receive in a battle. Some can only be unlocked by certain characters, just as some battles can only be fought with certain characters. It also seems as though other rewards include unlocking more weapons and playable characters.

I have never played a Dynasty Warriors game, but playing Hyrule Warriors makes me want to try those games. I have really enjoyed playing Hyrule Warriors very much and I highly recommend the game.

Nintendo recently released Pokemon Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby for the 3DS. I purchased both games to share with my son. He decided to start playing Omega Ruby, so I have begun playing Alpha Sapphire. I remember playing Pokemon Sapphire years ago on my Gameboy SP. I really enjoyed the game, as I have been enjoying Pokemon games since I started playing them before my son was born, which has been over 10 years now.

I was looking forward to the new games and enjoyed the little bits of news I found out about them. Nintendo sent me a download code for the demo almost a month ago. While I spent only a little time playing the demo, my son played it quite a few times. The demo mentioned that you could transfer any Pokemon you find to the game when it was released, although I have not yet tried to do that.

The new games are not just ports and don't even look like the original games. They look like Pokemon X and Y. The games didn't just get a graphical upgrade, but they also contain new features including Mega Evolution, which was introduced in X and Y. The original music seems to still be in the game, which is great.

While I have only spent a few hours in the game and haven't even obtained my first gym badge, I wanted to share my initial impressions. I found myself very impressed with one of the new features of the game called the DexNav. While walking around in the game, you can select it or the map on the bottom screen. It shows the route you are on, but the image is from the original version of the games. It shows shadows of Pokemon that you have seen, but not yet caught. The shadows are revealed after you catch a Pokemon. It can also give you a bit of a radar, that lets you know a Pokemon is nearby. When you are close enough, you will see the top part of a Pokemon hiding in the grass on the top of the screen. It can also give you hints about the nearby Pokemon such as its type. By gently pushing the control stick (not the D-pad) in the direction you want to walk, you can "sneak" up on on a Pokemon. If you walk or run too fast, the app will tell you to walk slowly. Once you find all of the Pokemon that are in a certain area, the app will tell you. The app apparently can also be upgraded. I really enjoy this new feature as it makes finding all the Pokemon in an area much easier, therefore less blind grinding.

I remember on the main menu of Pokemon X and Y there was a "Mystery Gift" option. I used that to receive a Torchic that contained an item for it's Mega Evolution by using the download code that came with the game. I noticed this was also on the main menu of Alpha Sapphire and I decided to check it out. It connected to the Internet to check for a gift and I got a shiny Beldum that contained an item for it's Mega Evolution.

I'm looking forward to playing this game more and I know my son is already enjoying it. If I found out more about the game as I play, I will post in the comments of this post.

Super Smash Bros. was recently released for the Wii U and it looks absolutely awesome on a big screen TV in high-definition! One of the main differences you will notice from the 3DS version is that the graphics do not look the same. This is only one of the differences between the two games. While both games feature the same characters, each version of the game has different stages, although there seems to be some that are shared between the two. Both games also have similar and different game modes that are available.

Unfortunately, the game lacks the story mode similar to Brawl's "Subspace Emissary," and cut-scenes have apparently been removed according to some sources. I have not played the game enough to verify this and it seems to contradict what I briefly saw when my son was playing the game.

Both the Wii U and 3DS versions of the game can interact. You can use the 3DS as a controller or copy your customized characters between the two. This feature is easily accessible by an icon on the main menu of each game. Speaking of controllers, you can also use GameCube controllers with a new adapter for the Wii U.

Along with the Wii U release, Nintendo has also released the first set of amiibo figures, with more sets coming later. These figures can be selected on the character selection screen by placing them on the Wii U GamePad on the bottom left-hand side. They fight on their own, acting as a CPU player. The amiibo character can be customized by selecting the in-game character's color set, equipment, and moves. The amiibo figure stores this information along with the character's level. By playing in the game, they gain experience and can reach level 50.

By registering both games on Club Nintendo, you will receive the soundtrack for the game (two CDs) for free when it is released in March 2015. You will also receive a code for the Mewtwo DLC when it is released next Spring.

Mario Kart 8 is a really fun game for the Wii U and was released this summer. It includes new tracks, new characters, and much more in high-definition. The game also contains DLC which can be purchased at the Nintendo eShop. The first DLC that was released for the game includes Mercedes-Benz karts and is available for free.

The second DLC, The Legend of Zelda pack, has just recently been released. It includes three new characters; Link, Tanooki Mario, and Cat Peach. It also includes eight new tracks with two new cups. Four new vehicles are available with this pack and while searching for images of the game online, I saw an Epona vehicle.

The third DLC, the Animal Crossing Pack, will be released in May 2015. It includes three new characters; Villager, Isabelle, and Dry Bowser. It also includes four new vehicles and eight new tracks.

While the first DLC is available for free, the Zelda and Animal Crossing DLC packs can be bought together for about $12. Separately, each pack costs about $8, so getting the two-in-one pack is a deal. If you haven't played Mario Kart 8, now is a great time to get started. If you've already played the game, now is a great time to play it again with the new DLC.

I have not yet played the new DLC as I just recently purchased the two-in-one pack and am watching my son play. I've seen him race with Link on new tracks and with Yoshi (who comes in a variety of colors). I'm excited about the DLC because I think Mario Kart 8 is a great game. I really enjoyed playing the game when it was released this summer and I think the new DLC definitely adds more to the game and is worth purchasing.

So, I went to my local Kroger today to get some groceries and was surprised to see a Sega Genesis for sale! The last time I was there, I noticed there was an Atari for sale. Apparently, both consoles have been released in new versions. This Genesis that I picked up is very small and comes with two wireless controllers, but is compatible with classic wired controllers (not included). It contains 80 built-in games. I'm very excited about this because I've been wanting a Sega Genesis for many, many years now. This console is compatible with Genesis game carts, but having built-in games, means that I don't have to try to locate carts for some of my favorite games for the console.

"Protoss legends Artanis and Zeratul attempt to unite their race in an intergalactic fight for survival against an ancient evil from the Void that threatens the universe. The fates of Terran hero Jim Raynor and Kerrigan, the Queen of Blades, also hang in the balance."

It looks like Blizzard is almost done with the next expansion to StarCraft II titled "Legacy of the Void." It's been a little while since I've read about this new expansion and when I did, I didn't expect to see anything even remotely soon about it, but I think I'm a bit surprised. While Blizzard has not yet stated a release date for the expansion, you can sign up and join in on the beta. Personally, I think I'll wait for the official release.

I believe StarCraft II has been out for quite some time. At the time if it's original release, I wasn't doing very much PC gaming nor did I have this awesome Alienware PC that I have now. So, I didn't get into the game until some time after "Heart of the Swarm" was released. I'm not even sure if my old PC meets the system requirements of the game, but some time after getting this new PC, I decided to jump in. I remember when StarCraft (the original) was released and pretty much got it immediately (I even drove half an hour to West Virginia to get it). I was very pleased with the original game and the sequel and I believe some of you have been as well.

Recently, I finished a book called "Ape and Essence" by Aldous Huxley. Belial was mentioned and it took me a few minutes to realize how I recognized the name. That's right, Diablo 3. This made me want to play the game again, but something else unexpected happened that makes me want to play even more and I'm writing this to share with you.

One of my friends on Facebook posted a video showing that she was playing in a colorful world. I never saw anything like it in the game. Thanks to Google, I recently found out more about this level and am sharing it with you here (http://diablo.blizzpro.com/2014/07/22/enter-diablo-3-secret-level/). This secret level is called Whimsyshire and requires a bit of work to get to.

I don't believe any of you have mentioned this level in our various discussions about the game. Were you aware of this level? Does this make you want to play the game again? What do you think?

The result of yesterday's mid-term elections has inspired me to play SimCity again. Is that strange? Is it just me? Am I weird, or did the result inspire you to play a game? Grand Theft Auto comes in to mind, too. What do you think?

Azurephile gives this a solid "Rad" on the Ghost Scale
This is fun, with very few issues, and is well worth your time.

What is Bejeweled?
If you've never played Bejeweled before, it's a simple puzzle game of matching at least three gems together on the board to remove them, while new gems will fall from the top of the screen. It is similar to Tetris, Dr. Mario, and Candy Crush.

Game modes: There are four basic game modes including Classic, Zen (formerly known as Endless), Lightning (formerly known as Blitz), and Quest. It also contains four "secret" game modes called Poker, Diamond Mine, Ice Storm, and Butterflies.

Classic mode is simply the game as I described it above; match gems and obtain a score until you reach a "game over" by no more moves being available. Badges can be won in Classic mode by reaching a certain score, such as 500,000 points.

In Zen mode, you do the same thing, except that it's impossible to get a "game over" and no more moves. This game mode was known as "Endless" in Bejeweled 2, but has been improved by being designed to help players relax with calm music and such.

In Lightning mode, you are in a race against the clock to get as many matches as possible. Certain gems will appear, which add more time to the clock. Badges can be earned by obtaining a certain number of multipliers.

In Quest mode, you have to obtain pieces of an artifact by completing certain challenges (or mini-games) in all game modes.

The four "secret" modes are unlocked by obtaining certain achievements in the different main game modes. For instance, Butterflies mode is unlocked after achieving level five in Zen mode. That said, in Butterflies mode, some of the gems turn into butterflies at the bottom of the game board. Swapping, and therefore clearing, gems will make the butterflies move up one level. If a butterfly gem reaches the very top, it will be grabbed by a spider and the player will be given a "game over" notice.

Poker mode is unlocked by achieving level five in Classic mode. The player will be given five cards, which are empty until the player clears at least three gems. When the player does this, one of the cards will turn into the kind of gem that the player cleared. So, clearing three purple gems will give you a card with a purple gem on it. The player will then have to try to create more similar cards to create a poker hand. The lowest poker hand that can be made is called "Spectrum," which can be obtained by having at least five individual gem cards. The highest poker hand that can be made is a "Flush," just like in poker where all the gem cards are the same. The player can receive a wild card by matching gems and creating a hypercube, which is the gem created by matching five gems together. Skulls also appear on the scoreboard with the scores of the different kinds of poker hands that can be made. This means that if the player creates a certain poker hand, then the game will basically flip a coin-like item which will either tell the player "Safe" or "Game Over." A bar above the scoreboard will be filled when the player creates a poker hand. When this bar fills up, a skull will disappear. The better the poker hand created, the more the bar will fill up.

Diamond Mine mode requires the completion of four of the mini-games in Quest mode. I found this mode enjoyable as it reminded me of Minecraft. The player will see a line and some dirt that can only be removed by matching gems that touch. Some of the dirt can only be removed by special gems, like hypercubes. There are also artifacts that the player can dig up as well. The player will be given a certain amount of time to remove the dirt above the line. If the player succeeds, the dirt will rise, giving the player more time and more dirt to clear away. If the player fails, or runs out of time, the game will be over.

Ice Storm is, like Lightning mode, one of the more difficult game modes. Ice will rise in columns and can only be shattered by matching gems vertically. However, there is a bar to the left that will fill up with water whenever a gem match is created. When this bar gets full, steam will push down the ice, giving the player more time to create vertical matches in order to remove the ice columns before they reach the top. If any of the columns reach the top and fill up, the game will be over. One of the more difficult badges to complete in this mode requires the player to make a combination of 15 vertical matches, so players must be very quick (and lucky) in order to obtain this badge.

Bejeweled 3 is available for some gaming consoles and the PC. Some of the badges are definitely a challenge to complete, but all are obtainable. My recommendation for completing all of the badges is to keep trying and to not give up. I was unable to obtain some of the harder badges without spending a few days trying to complete the necessary challenges, but I finally obtained them all and am left with a great feeling of accomplishment. I now feel like I've mastered the game and can calm down and take it easy. ๐Ÿ˜„
