Blizzard Opens Diablo III PS3 Pre-Orders

Blizzard opened PS3 Diablo III pre-orders with a wearable helmet that allows you an XP boost. This is only available to PS3 owners and not transferable to your PC game.

"Wearable at level 1, the Infernal Helm confers a +EXP bonus to help you whip your new PlayStation characters into tip-top shape. Plus, it looks sweet as hell (pun intended) on all five mortal heroes of Sanctuary—Witch Doctor, Barbarian, Demon Hunter, Wizard, and Monk. Brawl Available Right Now in Patch 1.0.7

Patch 1.0.7 Preview: Dueling & Updates

On dueling:

"Here's a quick rundown of how dueling will work in Diablo III as well as some insight into our design philosophy for the system.

How it Works:

To duel another player, you’ll need to speak with Nek the Brawler at the inn in New Tristram.

Speaking with Nek will take you and your party to the Scorched Chapel, a new zone designed specifically for player combat

This zone has custom geometry and features four different areas: the church, the graveyard, the river, and the lake

Dueling currently supports up to four players in a Free-For-All format, which means you can battle your friends either one-on-one, three-player FFA, or a full four-player FFA

PVP & Dueling

Looks like we are getting a pretty interesting update to Diablo III early next year.

"First and foremost, if our original goal was to support dueling, then we're not achieving that goal very well if we don’t actually give players a way to duel in-game. You’ve been asking us for dueling for a while, so we're going to add it to the game soon. Dueling is currently scheduled to release with patch 1.0.7, which is set to hit sometime after the new year. Anúna Choir Perform Diablo 3 Soundtrack

"In July 2012 at Dublin's National Concert Hall, Anúna performed two pieces, "Black Soulstone" and "Incantation" written by US composer Russell Brower from the soundtrack Diablo III. Soloists are Lucy Champion, Miriam Blennerhassett, Rory Musgrave and Michael McGlynn."

This is a very good performance version of Russel Browder's great soundtrack. The Diablo 3 Soundtrack tops my list of great video game soundtracks to come out over the last few years and this choir sings these songs well.

It takes a bit to get started so skip ahead 35 seconds if you so desire.

I Am In Hell!

A few days ago I finally made it to Hell in Diablo 3 with "SnuggyBunny" my Witch Doctor. Beating Diablo in Nightmare wasn't too difficult. I sort of stopped going to the Auction House and only used the gear from game drops until I recently picked it back up. I think that made the game a bit harder than it would have been otherwise. After I started over in act one in Hell I decided to hit up the Auction House to see what kinds of things I could buy with all the gold I had. I had about 250k gold so I figured spending 50k on a weapon would get me something better than I had.

Another round of Linux perma-bans in Diablo III

It looks like more people have recently gotten Blizzard's ban hammer for playing Diablo III on Linux, through Wine. Wine is a compatibility layer that enables you to run Windows executables on Linux, some with better results than others. Diablo III works perfectly through Wine, but the evidence is mounting that playing it this way results in Blizzards anti-botting measures thinking you're doing something more nefarious.

What's worse is that they won't engage in discussion about it. You pay $60 for a game that you're required to play online, and you can get banned for doing something that they say is fine. Unfortunately the US doesn't have any potent consumer protection,... Read All

I agree this is pretty bad and seems to be getting worse. I am hoping with enough community appeal, Blizzard takes this up and does something about it soon!

It's quite possible that the bans are legit, I suppose, but "we checked into it and the ban sticks, you have no recourse, case closed" is not a good way to do business. They need to communicate more.

I think more communication would be good. I mean, is there some benefit Wine gets you for cheating? There may very well be and Blizzard would know if there was.

Bashiok, a community manager, said there was no problem with running in Wine, and specifically said Wine wasn't the problem. People have also been doing it in WoW for years with no problems.

That said, the community managers seem to contradict each other from time to time, and the lack of communication only adds to us not knowing what the heck is going on.

This is the sort of thing that worried me about the required online aspect, it even caused a friend to decide to pass on D3. It's good that Blizzard is on this, but the response seems a bit slow.

If any of you have the gear, want to farm some key wardens some time? I've run the act II key warden about 20 times on mp2 and have only gotten 1 key.

More than anything, I'm just bored with the run.

They spawn in all difficulties but they only drop keys in inferno mp1+. So yes, you are 6 levels and 10 mil gold or so away.

I can wallop The Butcher in Inferno pretty easily now, but the first bit of Act II still slays me. I may have hit the point where you have to love the grind to keep going.

I'm OK with that, I suppose. It's definitely a pick-up-put-down game for me. I play it a couple of days and have loads of fun, then I'm done for a while. If I quit right now and never looked at it again, I would have still gotten my $60 worth.

Yes, keys drop in inferno acts 1-3 when you have 5 stacks of valor. Each monster power gives an additional 10% chance for the key to drop. So MP10 has a 100% drop chance. We usually farm them on MP5 or 6.

I just finally got all 3 organs the other day and made my first hellfire ring. It didn't roll very well but at least I get the bonus XP!

Um... duh... Why dont they make a DotA mode for Diablo3?

Um... duh...

Why don't they make a DotA mode for Diablo3? It would take about 2 seconds of coding, and about 3 months of balancing, but it could easily be done, and I'm sure it would be fun. Blizzard kind of invented DotA, I'm surprised they haven't done it yet.
