The Witcher is a new series on Netflix. So far, it only has one season, but it is apparently going to have at least one more. The show is based much more closely on the original literature than the game and there’s apparently a lot of material there which can therefore lead to a lot of episodes. I enjoyed watching season one, but there are some things I thought I’d also point out.

I haven’t read any of the original literature. My knowledge of the Witcher comes from the three video games. I wasn’t too fond of the first one, the second was better, and I really enjoyed the third. I really like Geralt in the game. I like his voice actor. I also enjoyed the collaboration that was done to add him into Monster Hunter: World. That was quite fitting to put the two together.

However, the game’s voice actor for Geralt is not in the show. Although, Henry Cavill does a pretty good job of being Geralt, at least I think so. He speaks kind of like the voice actor in the game, giving Geralt a gruffy kind of sound. I’m pretty sure I read or saw something some where that said Cavill was actually a fan of the Witcher before taking the role and that he wanted to change his voice a bit to match. He is a gamer, actually.

Yennifer was one of my favorite characters in the game, so I was surprised to find out her origin story. I did not know it was so significant. I don’t want to give any spoilers, but you may not recognize her the first time you see her in the show, or at least until someone calls her by name. By then, you’ll wonder what the difference is, which you’ll learn eventually.

Triss Merigold is also in the show. She teams up with Geralt to solve a monster mystery. This episode reminded me of Game of Thrones. Speaking of which, the two shows have some similarities such as “adult” language and nudity. So, this show isn’t “for kids.” Triss later teams up with Yennifer and other sorceresses.

Dandelion is in the show, too, but I don’t think he’s ever called by that name. You’ll know who he is though, he’s the only bard that seeks Geralt’s companionship. I really love his song, "Toss A Coin To Your Witcher." I think it's quite catchy. Search for it on Google. Of course, Roach, Geralt’s horse is there, too.

Of course Ciri is in the show as well. The first season will help you learn about how and why they are bonded, which I thought was good. If I remember correctly, this story differed in the third video game. She's special, not just because she's a princess. You'll see (hint: and hear).

One of the most confusing parts about season one is the timeline. I watched one episode that had a character in it that died and then saw that character again in a later episode. I wondered if it was a twin, but I ended up finding out that we were shown timelines out of chronological order. You’ll see this happen more than once, but when it finally happens, you’ll pretty much understand it. It’s basically just there to give you the perspective of another character at that time, but that first time it happened was rather confusing.

Of course there are also monsters and magic. You get sight of a monster right off the bat, within the first ten minutes of episode one. You’ll see magic later, although it’s more focused around the sorceresses like Yennifer and Triss. Geralt does use it, but not very much. He also drinks potions some times. One thing to point out about magic, too, is the overall understanding that magical use comes with a price (not monetary).

I strongly recommend watching the video posted on the New Rockstars YouTube channel after watching season one. It will clue you into the timeline confusion and point out some things that you may have overlooked, including things that were in the game. You can find it here: https://youtu.be/EkZir-2mjf0

I am looking forward to seeing more of this series and I hope it does well. I think it could. I believe it was received well and I know for certain that it caused a spike on Steam of people buying and playing the third game.

Star Wars Rebels is awesome! It’s a CGI animated show with four seasons. It transpires outside of the Skywalker saga, but it contains many connections to other Star Wars media, including films. In fact, the main ship in this show is called the Ghost and it appears in Rogue One and The Rise of Skywalker. The main droid in this show also gets a very brief cameo in Rogue One. This show covers the crew of the Ghost and their place in events between The Clone Wars (show and movie) and Rogue One.

The show’s main characters don’t just have one Jedi among them, but two. Kanan Jarrus (voiced by Freddie Prince, Jr.) lost his Jedi Master due to Order 66. He then stepped away from the Jedi, but when he met one of the show’s other main characters, Ezra Bridger, he decided to train Ezra, seeing he was also Force-sensitive. The main pilot of the Ghost is a Twi’lek named Hera Syndulla. Her father is General Cham Syndulla on Ryloth. She was just a young child during the Clone Wars. The “muscle” of the group is a Lasat named Zeb. There is also a very creative Mandalorian named Sabine Wren. Finally, the android is known as Chopper. These main characters make up a family, more than just a great Rebel team.

Other characters make appearances as well, such as the Emperor, Darth Vader, Maul, and Ahsoka Tano, among others. The show even traverses into some familiar places, such as Genonosis and Yavin 4. It also showcases familiar ships as well. It’s a wonderful show that ties in with the existing Star Wars universe as we know it, giving us another perspective of what transpires within the canon timeline. I strongly recommend watching it.

The Mandalorian is a new Star Wars show streaming on Disney+. It currently only has one season, but it seems to have been received well. It follows a Mandalorian bounty hunter, most call him "Mando." He gets a great bounty, which leads to the plot of the first season. The season kind of ends on a cliff hanger, showing that there is (or could be) more to come. I do believe it has been given a green light for season two.

One thing that sets this show apart from the Star Wars movies and other shows (like The Clone Wars) is that it is entirely outside of the Skywalker Saga. I think it was done very well and it is nice to see a piece of the Star Wars universe outside of it's usual main story line and characters. Mando does visit some familiar places and meet some familiar species. One thing I really like about this show is that it has a good bit of Star Wars lore in it. We get to learn a bit more about the Mandalorians and I predict we may learn more about another species that I won't spoil (*hint* there's something very adorable in this series).

I strongly recommend watching The Mandalorian. I think this is a good show to binge watch. I was disappointed to learn that each episode is only half an hour long, but the show makes very good use of that time, it is well worth it. I also like the music (like Mando's flute theme) and the opening show bit, which is very short and awesome.

As Star Wars is pretty much a sci-fi western, The Mandalorian fits this very well. Star Wars was created with the influence of westerns and Japanese media (the world "Jedi" is from a Japanese word). If you like Star Wars, definitely check this out! I really doubt you'll dislike it at all.

I also like that the main character played a character I liked in Game of Thrones. I think he makes the third actor from Game of Thrones that's starred in a Star Wars show or movie. (*Edit* Travis pointed out to me in the comments that there are a lot more than I realized.)

You may have heard about a show on HBO called Game of Thrones. Hopefully you haven't heard too many spoilers, if you haven't seen it. GoT is a totally epic show. It blends together elements of many genres such as horror, drama, fantasy, and more. I personally like to binge watch GoT as each hour long episode keeps me wanting more to the point where it's hard to stop watching. There are eight seasons, each with 10 episodes, except for the last two.

Basically, GoT is pretty much as the title states, it's a game of thrones. It's pretty much an ongoing power struggle for the crown of the seven kingdoms. There are many characters that wish to sit on the Iron Throne. Some have legitimate claims to the crown, some do not. Characters are pretty fleshed out and you'll definitely feel at least something for all of the major ones. In fact, your opinion of a character may even change over the course of the show. I know there were some that redeemed themselves and some that started out well, but ended up not being good. Also beware as your favorite character(s) may get killed.

GoT is an "adult" show. It contains nudity, sex, "adult" language, violence, torture, blood, and gore. However, it has dragons and undead. It's a really good show. I believe it's really popular and there's a good reason for that. It is based on a series of books written by George R. R. Martin titled "A Song of Fire and Ice." There are five books already written, each is around 1,000 pages. There are still two more books to be published. I believe there are also some other books by Martin that contain some more lore of the world. There are differences between the show and books as is usual, but Martin did have a hand in the show's development.

This is a show I strongly recommend. If you get a chance, you should watch it and read the books.

The seventh season of the Star Wars animated show Clone Wars arrives on Feb.21. If you haven't checked out Star Wars: Clone Wars, now is a good time to get started. I watched all current seasons on Netflix and enjoyed it, so I recommend it for Star Wars fans. It will be on Disney+ and you can find more information here: https://www.gamespot.com/articles/star-wars-clone-wars-season-7-release-date-reveale/1100-6472475/

If you bought Minecraft: Java Edition before October 19th, 2018 you can get the Windows 10 Edition for free! Hurry, this offer ends on April 20th, 2020! I think this is pretty important news, so I'm sharing it here. I think the offer expired some time ago, but it's back once again. If you have not yet taken advantage of this opportunity, I pretty much strongly recommend you do so. This version of Minecraft is called the "Bedrock Edition." It's the same game that is on consoles, (Switch, PS4, XBox One), Android/IOS phones and tablets and more. This also means that cross-play is a feature. Perhaps one of the best parts about the Bedrock Edition is performance. This version is much smoother than the Java Edition. That is because it doesn't run on Java. The only major issue with the Bedrock Edition is it's lack of mod support. However, there are various maps, skins, and other things you can buy (or sometimes get for free). You can also opt-in the beta version of the Bedrock Edition using the XBox Console Companion. Take a look at the links below. Feel free to let me know if you need some help. Feel free to send me a friend request via XBox (GregoPeck).

Doom Eternal now has a release date of March 20, 2020. You can now put it on your Steam wish list. It won't come to the Switch on that date, but still supposedly in the same year. Doom (2016) was a cool game and it runs surprisingly well on many PCs. The sequel looks at add some new features, which seems exciting.

Are you planning to get this at launch? What do you think about it? I'm not sure if I'll get it at launch, I might wait. I guess it just depends on what I'm doing or playing at the time.

Just a quick note here to let you know that Warcraft III: Reforged is going to be released on Jan. 28. It's not that far away, yet it feels like it's been a while since we've heard anything about it. I don't recall hearing anything about it at this year's Blizzcon, which comes as a surprise now that we have this release date. Maybe I missed something, after all I was only playing attention to Diablo IV anyway.

You can buy a digital version of the game for $30 (which is $2 per mission) or spend an extra $10 to get some bonus stuff. See the link below for more info.

Is anyone planning to get this at launch? I'm not sure myself. I've played all of Warcraft and Warcraft II, but never Warcraft III. The remaster looks impressive though! Check out the embedded video for a look at both versions side by side.

I am primarily and strongly a PC gamer. It hasn't always been this way, but it's been this way much more in my life than I've been a console gamer. I've had a computer since I was really young and over the years I've learned a lot about them. I consider myself a PC enthusiast. This is something well known of me, so people have often come to me with their computer questions or tech support needs. I did, after all, work in tech support for a few years at my local community college. While programming really isn't my "thing," PC hardware is. I think I put together (built) my first PC after high school and I did it a few more times after that, as I just did very recently. I've posted some things on here regarding this or just my PC in general (I did post about my Alienware purchase years ago) and I know others here are also PC enthusiasts. So, I thought I'd share with you some of my favorite YouTube channels for PC enthusiasts and tech knowledge.

JayzTwoCents is a channel I found this summer and it's risen really high on my list of favorite channels. Jay is real, he makes mistakes and isn't afraid to admit when he's wrong or that he's made a mistake. He definitely has skills and knowledge and often shares this with his viewers. He does a lot of PC builds for different people or for different budgets and needs. He also does a lot of hardware testing, giving viewers the information they need to make an informed purchase. I really recommend checking this channel out. I've embedded one of his videos about upgrading a 10 year old PC. You can do so surprisingly cheap. Anyway check the channel out at: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCkWQ0gDrqOCarmUKmppD7GQ

Linus Tech Tips (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCXuqSBlHAE6Xw-yeJA0Tunw) and Techquickie (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC0vBXGSyV14uvJ4hECDOl0Q) are basically a two in one. Both are good channels for learning about technology in general, not just PC tech, but you will find plenty of information regarding PC tech. Many of the videos are very short, but informative. Many of them are also related, which, if your an enthusiast, means there's plenty to see. I recommend these channels for all interested in technology, but especially for those that are new and wanting to learn more about it.

I thought I'd share with you some of my most favorite gaming channels on YouTube. Please feel free to let me know if you're also a fan of these channels, too. Also, share your favorites with me in the comments!

I've mentioned Paul Soares Jr. before in my posts on here. His was one of the first channels I started watching years ago. I've watched all of his Minecraft Survive & Thrive series, I've even watched some of them multiple times. I believe he's the first to have posted a Minecraft tutorial on YouTube. He's featured in the Minecraft documentary I've shared in a Minecraft post. He is also one of the few who brought Ark: Survival Evolved to my attention. I've watched his videos of other games, too, like Starbound, Terraria, Stranded Deep, and Fallout 4. This is definitely one of my favorite channels. (Embedded video is currently his only Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order video). You can check out his channel here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCP6f9x4iXk3LH8Q1sqJmYPQ

Sl1pg8r's channel is another one of my favorites. Like Paul Soares Jr. he's made some videos for Ark: Survival Evolved, Fallout 76, Minecraft, and more. He's very positive and funny! You can check out his channel here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCB9y6hNzccY5rTQlnI1KNqA

ChippyGaming is a great source for Terraria news! Check him out here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdImtrRS4UewEbPdnF8R4qw

I've shared a couple videos from gameranx. This channel has a lot of "Before You Buy" videos, which are good reviews. You can check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCNvzD7Z-g64bPXxGzaQaa4g

The channel xisumavoid (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCU9pX8hKcrx06XfOB-VQLdw) is a great resource for Minecraft videos, there is a second xisumatwo (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCL5W9kuKIQtXEVAxSadB2BQ) channel for the same person. I'm not exactly sure why he has two channels. He often shares snapshot updates and other things like Minecraft "myth busting."

Skippy 6 Gaming is also a good resource for Minecraft news, especially the Bedrock Edition, which isn't usually covered by the previously mentioned channels. You can check out that channel here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChaD7v_qp1qHfhv3-sQFG9g

There are two channels I watch primarily for Monster Hunter: World and that is Arekkz Gaming (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-zjH-e5XBzMpy_VtwIGRxQ) and TheGameconomist (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCnuZHEmJqsxV4DJtPheYp2g). They are excellent sources for everything MHW and more! They've taught me a lot about the game!

BestInSlot has a channel I watch primarily for Jurassic World Evolution. You can check out his channel here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWB212HLA4MyZBpn0qlBpXA

Drew Durnil (https://www.youtube.com/user/BAStartGaming) and quill18 (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbx1TZgxfIauUZyPuBzEwZg) have some good Civilization videos. I've mentioned them before in at least one of my CivVI posts.
