Someone on NeoGAF found this trademark info earlier today. The site has gone down due to traffic overload, but someone caught the images before it went down.

This isn't any kind of guarantee of Half-Life 3, but if they use every extension they are allowed to use, they have around 2.75 years to release something tangible.

I hope that, now that there's a ton of internet buzz about this, Valve will make some sort of an announcement soon, but it could still be a while before we know if this pans out.

Again, this is nothing more than a trademark, and I'm in no way saying HL3 is confirmed.

As you can see from the pic, this is different from every other controller paradigm we've seen, with dual trackpads instead of sticks, and buttons arranged around a central touchscreen.

In addition, Valve's new controller uses haptic feedback to simulate force and vibration in a different way than the usual rumble we get from common controllers.

The big reveal, for me, is that it seems Steam OS can simulate a keyboard/mouse without any work on your part, just configuring how you want to control it, and you can share your configurations with others.

So it wasn't Half-Life 3, but it's still very interesting, and I look forward to getting my hands on this-- literally-- when it launches.

Steam Machines. It looks like they aren't going with "Steam Box" that people have been using for a while now.

Valve is working with various hardware partners to bring a range of Steam hardware to living rooms in 2014.

In addition, you can put your name in the hat to beta test their hardware by completing the Steam Hardware Enthusiast badge. If you're one of the lucky 300, you get a prototype to play with and test. Free of charge.

Mostly, right now, they're saying "more info soon" but there's some good info there.

The very last thing on the page, about input devices-- "Stay tuned, though - we have some more to say very soon on the topic of input." I think the third announcement is going to be about the controller that will ship with Steam Machines.

Back in 2009, Valve filed a patent for a customizable controller-- we may be seeing the production of this patent.

The icon for Friday's announcement is O + O, which does kinda look like a controller. Isn't speculation fun?

The first of three announcements is out, and it's a biggie: Steam is making its own Linux distribution called SteamOS, specifically for living room gaming computers. It's going to be a free download to run on your own hardware, or preinstalled on the Steam Box.

This will have all you'd expect-- family sharing, the ability to play music, movies, etc. You can read all the details at the link above, but the most interesting piece of info to me is game streaming:

You can play all your Windows and Mac games on your SteamOS machine, too. Just turn on your existing computer and run Steam as you always have - then your SteamOS machine can stream those games over your home network straight to your TV!

As long as you have a Windows box in your home, you can play Windows games remotely. This is huge. I wonder where the video processing actually happens, and whether that will lock out the Windows PC while you play. I'm sure details will be forthcoming.

Another small teaser toward the end says "Watch for announcements in the coming weeks about all the AAA titles coming natively to SteamOS in 2014." I'm quite interested to hear about this. The games that show up natively for SteamOS will be a major indicator of how successful this initiative can be.

They're discussing Big Picture Mode and talking about living rooms, so I can only assume this has something to do with the Steam Box. Looks like, as of this writing, we're 71 hours away from the first announcement.

UPDATE: Geoff Keighley tweeted that Valve sent him an email saying that there will be three separate announcements next week.

I'm going to just come out and predict this now: Half-Life 3 will be announced. If it isn't, I'm one more incorrect guess in a sea of thousands, but if it is... I CALLED IT!

OK, in all honesty I would love that, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

This looks so fun. I loved Terraria's grappling hooks, but they didn't have these Spider Man physics.

It's updates like this that make me wonder just how much we don't even know about Starbound yet.

So much to love in this trailer. There's so much stuff we've never seen before, it almost looks like a sequel.

User thomar on reddit has a great breakdown of all the new stuff you can see from the trailer: http://www.reddit.com/r/Terraria/comments/1mh7uk/terraria_12_trailer_spoilers/cc97xfv

I'm so excited for this. Half a month!

Steam Family Sharing allows close friends and family members to play one another's games while earning their own Steam achievements and saving their own game progress to the Steam cloud. It's all enabled by authorizing a shared computer.

Coming in mid-September, you will be able to share your Steam library on up to 10 devices. Friends and family can borrow your games when you aren't playing them. Of course, there are some restrictions. Some games require a separate activation to a third-party service, etc. But still, this is amazing news and solves a lot of issues with the digital games model.

This is awesome, but before your hopes get too high, let me point one thing out: As it's worded, it seems you share your library, not individual games. If someone is playing your copy of Secret of the Magic Crystals, you can't play your copy of Skyrim.
