The place for conversation that doesn't make sense to talk about in any specific game in our list. Think of General Discussion as a "catch all" for conversations about gaming, game culture or anything else worth sharing.

So.. I saw this and was like hmm, I have most of those games, right? I checked GOG and Steam and I did indeed own a good half of the games offered here plus some not offered.

I got the full package anyways. I looked up each game offered and saw some promise. The Might and Magic Clash of Heroes is apparently really fun and plays like Puzzle Quest (a rpg match 3 style game). So, that alone I'm glad I picked this up.

But then I looked at Might and Magic X Legacy...The game at a glance has mixed reviews. That's because the game is tailored for a group of older gamers wanting a turn based rpg again. Most of the reviews either love it (for... Read All

UPDATE: Valve has pulled paid mods from Skyrim.
http://steamcommunity.com/games/SteamWorkshop/announcements/detail/208632365253244218

A few days ago, Valve and Bethesda teamed up for a controversial new program: paid content on the Steam Workshop. What this amounts to in its current form, is that modders can charge for their work through Steam. On paper this seems like a good idea. In practice, it's a nightmare.

To begin with, the split is massively unreasonable. Apparently Valve is letting publishers decide on the split, and for Skyrim mods, Bethesda has decided that they will receive 45% of the proceeds, Valve will receive 30%, leaving only 25% for the modders.

Second... Read All

In this Episode of the Cheerful Ghost Roundtable we talk about the Cheerful Ghost Games Club and what we've been playing with that. We talk about replaying Half-life 2, Guild Wars 2, Titan Souls and the recently released Hearthstone on phones. We head to the main Roundtable discussion covering GDC and Valve's final Steam Controller, Steam Machines & Valve's new VR headset. As always we keep the discussion fun and hopefully Travis can answer why robots kept him away from this episode as for now, it's a secret to everyone.

I thought this recent episode of Game/Show was well worth sharing as it covers an arena of gaming I mostly just watch with awe. A good speedrun is pretty magical and it's been a joy to see how quickly people can complete games like Ocarina of Time, which seems to be the current speedrun gold standard.

"Speedrunning! The competitive genre of choice recently that’s popping up on Reddit, Twitch, Youtube, and basically anywhere you can watch video. Recently popularized by people like Cosmo through his run of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, speedrunning is becoming the next big thing (and possible foil) to most games’ competitive scenes. Instead of doing your best to... Read All

Time to see what kind of gaming April Fools jokes come around.

In the main video above, Guild Wars 2 is treating us to some really amusing airplane noises and sepia effects. At least it's amusing for the first 30 minutes or so.

In Diablo III's PTR, you can go big-head mode and slaughter demons with 500% more head!

If you follow the site you are aware that we are all pretty excited about Steam Machines and the Steam Link. I've mostly been tuning out the other stuff because, to date, nothing has seemed as compelling as buying a game in one place on Steam and playing it anywhere I want.

With that, last week I found out about the upcoming Nvidia Shield Console that is a $200 high powered Android TV device that supports in home streaming and Nvidia's new Grid service. Using Nvidia's in home PC streaming you can broadcast your Steam games to your Nvidia Shield console. Steam Machines and the Link do that too but what is interesting is the Shield console runs a full blown Android TV... Read All

I wanted to let everyone know about a slew of new features that I added to the site over the last few weeks that I can finally talk about. I've wanted to add this stuff for quite some time and have been really happy with how it turned out. Let me know how the new features work out for you and if you run into any issues with them.

Steam Login

Most of us use and love Steam. Steam is constructed such that the Desktop and web client are pretty much the same. One cool part of Steam on the web is that you can authenticate to a website like Cheerful Ghost through Steam. Facebook, Google and Steam have provided websites like Cheerful Ghost with the ability to authenticate for... Read All

I enjoy reading every bit of interesting information I can about people doing interesting stuff in gaming. Recently Geoff Keighley sat down with Gabe Newell and Erik Johnson of Valve to talk about some behind the scenes stuff with Valves recent reveals. Gabe addresses people that look to creators to create sequels, massively hinting at peoples desire to see a Half-life 3. He doesn't say much other than he understands where people are coming from and as fans they want more of the things they love too.

"Geoff Keighley sits down with Gabe Newell and Erik Johnson from Valve to discuss the state of one of the most respected video game companies in the world. Hear Gabe and... Read All

Gabe Newell was on hand at GDC to talk about all the things Valve was talking about. If you wanted information about the PC, Steam Machines, Online Gaming and the Source 2 engine you should check it out. Come for the Valve information stay for the puns at the end of the video.
