Since Terraria: Otherworld's cancellation I've been checking out what's coming in Terraria 1.3.6. Today, a new feature was teased that I had to come talk about: Block Replacement. If you're like me, you start building and then get the ability to get better stuff, so you tear down your build and start over. I rarely build anything permanent until near Hardmode, or at least post-Skeletron. This feature will let you replace blocks if you have a pickax equipped that is strong enough to mine the block you're replacing. You can even change out chests, and it will keep the contents. This could also help when you want some ore that happens to be holding in a lake and you... Read All

If there ever was a time to buy a new keyboard, that time is coming. This update includes Razer Chroma support. It’s kind of an expensive keyboard, but they keys light up. I found it for about $80-90 on Amazon. I was actually thinking about this some time ago, since I often play in the dark and sometimes it’s hard to see keys when I need... Read All

If you've been around here for a while, you know we can't stop talking about Terraria. I think most of us got into it with 1.1, when hardmode was added. This trailer is from around the original release in 2011, so it was before our time in it.

Back then, molten armor was the strongest, Skeletron was the last boss. Based on the trailer, the physics were different in many ways, flails worked a bit differently, and tons of sprites and blocks were different (look at those smooth doors and shiny dungeons).

We're coming up on *six years* since the game released, if you can believe that, and updates are still coming. Here's a brief look at the game's history, discounting minor... Read All

We’re going through changes. The Cheerful Ghost Roundtable is entering its chrysalis, and when it emerges it will be Cheerful Ghost Radio, the new podcast by members of the Cheerful Ghost community.

What does this mean for you?

  • Better quality audio. Taking video out of the equation should improve the audio quality since it won’t be compressed like in Google Hangouts.

  • Better visuals. You no longer have to look at our ugly mugs.

  • More options. You are no longer tied to Youtube so you can listen whenever you want, wherever you want.

What does this mean for us?
  • We no longer have to put on clothes to record an episode!

We’d like to hear what you want from Cheerful Ghost... Read All

Here's that crossover content that was teased a few weeks back!

Some time before the end of the year, Terraria will be getting a new invasion with new enemies and loot, and Dungeon Defenders 2 is getting some new levels and the Dryad as an unlockable hero! And she looks newly angry! I guess she has a corrupt form?

From the article:
"In this rare crossover event, Terraria players will get to experience intense invasion-style action straight from the magical realm of Etheria, while Dungeon Defenders 2 players will enlist the help of an ancient and powerful hero to face down new threats of a distinctly Terrarian nature."

"Terraria fans will get a new Dungeon Defenders... Read All

Apparently Terraria can't stop getting better and even though this new update is small it also brings some new items as well as a desert biome sandstorm. I like the new polish they are adding the game as it will make it a bit more fresh when players return to build up a new world.

Since version 1.3 the developers have considered Terraria finished due to the "endgame boss" the Moon Lord but they are still updating the base game with new items, biome weather effects and more but after this I wonder where they plan on taking the game? I'm also wondering what would you like to see added to Terraria? As a pretty big Terraria fan it the game seems already really good to me... Read All

Have you always wanted to have a party in Terraria? Well now the Party Girl or certain other NPC's will throw one under certain conditions you set up. As with any new feature, they don't say what they conditions are but I imagine it will come to the wiki at some point.

When we run our next server we should throw a party.

1.3.1 might not be the largest Terraria patch but it does seem loaded with some interesting stuff like full controller support, more wires and now a companion cube pet. It's also pretty nice that it's easy to get from a Merchant instead of some intense mob farming.

"In celebration of Terraria's 5th birthday we are pleased to announce the release date for 1.3.1, an update for PC that focuses on wiring mechanics and controller support."

Terraria 1.3 is coming this month featuring a bunch of new stuff including Logic gates, hardhats, yellow wire, coveyor belts, new pressure plates, official controller support, a new campfire, many new statues that spawn mobs, a new block that changes water color and more. The new campfires and controller support look well worth the price of admission alone and with all things Terraria I can't want to try it out.

I just wanted to let you know that our beloved game, Terraria, is coming to the Wii U and 3DS very soon. In fact, the 3DS version will be released on March 15th (in 5 days!) and the Wii U version on April 12th, according to Amazon. I have ordered both versions to give to my son, Vinny, for his birthday. He's stated interest in at least the 3DS version. Unfortunately, it seems the 3DS version is quite limited due to the surprisingly low specifications of the 3DS. It only comes in one world size, which seems to be the same as the mobile version. Different companies are working on each version. Both versions are expected to have all 1.2 content and more upon launch with... Read All
