That totals 1291. It says I have 1616 Play Mode Wins though. Also, it says My best arena key is 911, but I don't know what that means lol. Ok, I used google. That's my total wins in the arena, my best run is 10 wins.

Let's say for the sake of averages, I have a 50/50 win ratio. Meaning, I've won 1616 games in ranked and lost 1616 games in ranked. For Arena, let's say I average 4 wins with 3 losses. That means... Read All

549 total wins and I just hit my highest ladder rank of 17!

My highest ranked wins are for Hunger at 33. I have been playing more ranked lately as its a good way to get wins compared to where you are at.

Nice! You also get rewarded at end of the month for your ladder progress (it marks your best spot, not current at end of month). Ladder is weird because it can be challenging at all points of it. Since someone can be legendary rank and then get pushed backwards at end of month, maybe then they don't play for a few weeks after... I've certainly lost at rank 20. There's also different deck styles that settle at different parts of the ladder. For instance, face-hunter or other aggro deck is best for getting through 20-10 I think.

I think my best is 6 or 7, I have a hard time getting under 10. When I play a consistent deck, I have the best results. Like I went from 15-10 in one day of druid play, but soon as I start switching to warrior and priest, I just fall off. Not to say those decks are bad, but I think you gotta be in the groove lol

Also, there's definitely the meta to build around. There's a LOT of secret paladin, mech mage, flamewaker mage, freeze mage, dragon priest, control warrior, hand-lock (warlock), oil rogue, totem shammy, and some others... there's always going to be FOTM (flavor of the month) decks to make sure you are ready for.

Cheerful Ghost Video Mini - Hearthstone Pack Opening Deuce

About a month back I decided to save up my gold to open packs with one of my friends Dan. Since I only have a couple Goblins VS Gnomes cards I decided that would be what I opened and Dan wanted to focus on classic. Join us as I open 19 GvG and 1 TGT pack(oops) and Dan opens 27 classic packs. Even though I took the unlucky first spot I was happy with what we both pulled.

After this round of pack opens I plan to turn my gold attention to unlocking the new League of Explorers Adventure. So far i've seen many of the new cards in my match ups and can't wait to unlock them for myself!

Finally beat Blackrock last night. Now I'm just a couple hundred gold away from League of Explorers :)

It seems like this came really quickly, from announcement to launch, compared to the Tournament cards.

I did pick it up. Waiting for week 2 content! So far the scarab is better than I expected. a 2 mana 1/1 that gets you a random 3-cost card.. I thought eh, a Novice Engineer is probably better as it gets you a card from your own deck at least. But I like the scarab a lot and lets you choose a card to fit the situation.

Reno Jackson is fun when you're at less than 5 hp and heal to full. I don't particularly like being forced to singleton cards though. Mage is abusing Reno by using the duplicate secret and the copy all creatures card. I had 4 copies in my hand one game lol, but still lost to not having a good closer.

I like Explorer's Hat, works well in the lock and load hunters deck I made to keep me up with spells to cast.

I haven't abused Djinn of Zephyrs too much yet, but I can the see value, and a 4/6 for 5 isn't the worst if it comes with free potential spells. Was awkward once when I cast control magic on enemies creature and it copied the spell to my Djinn...which then made it not able to attack that turn (treated it as just coming under my control).

I've attempted to use Djinn in both a Druid and a Shaman deck. I've not found it very useful yet, but I'm still experimenting.

I was rocked during one battle by a summoning stone. It was awesome to see.

The scarab looked like one of the more useful cards from the set. Small cards that do useful/unique things are always in style.

Warsong Commander Getting The Nerf Bat - What Do You Think?

A couple days ago Blizzard announced that Warsong Commander was getting a nerf and we've talked about it a bit already. I think all Hearthstone players wanted to see the Grim Patron Warrior deck get a nerf but after Blizzard talked about Warsong Commanders changes some people voiced some displeasure. No nerf is going to make everyone happy but is changing Warsong Commanders ability that big a problem?

For folks not in the know Blizzard is changing Warsong Commanders ability from:

"Whenever you summon a minion with 3 or less Attack, give it Charge."

TO

"Your Charge minions have +1 Attack. "

But some people feel this nerf is bad for Hearthstone in general as seen in a recent... Read All

My Current Hearthstone Decks

Rarely a day goes by where I don't play a few matches of Hearthstone. It's a great game and I still find the matches engaging and fun. I recently just got to a point where I have 4 decks that net me consistent wins in Casual and I felt they were worth sharing. Feel free to share your decks too, i'd love to see what people are playing with.

First things first, I am a free to play pleb that's only been seriously playing since the game dropped on mobile. Also these decks are not put together to be competitive on ranked. I play enough ranked to get the new card back but I am not good enough to do well there. Someday perhaps, but not right now.

The following balance change will be made in an upcoming patch:

Warsong Commander now reads: Your Charge minions have +1 Attack.

It's a bit overkill, as Warsong Commander goes back to being terrible, I would have liked something like "Your minions with 2 power or less have charge" (and if they get stronger than 2 power, they lose charge). This would nerf the current combo, but still let you do something with it. +1 attack on charge minions seems fairly "meh"

I agree that this wrecks Warsong Commander but something needed to happen to Grim Patron Warrior decks. Buffing charge minions is totally "meh" there are lots of other cards that buff all minions but I guess this is the best Blizz thought they could do.

I wonder how well used Grim Patron will be after this change?

The Craziest Grim Patron Turn I've Seen Yet

This may very well be the craziest Hearthstone turn i've seen. Basically it features two Grim Patron decks with multiple cards working together. An armor smith card is granting the defender mad armor while the attacker drops two berserkers that gain attack for damage done to all characters. I've gone lethal on someone with about 18 damage dealt in one blow, but 32 for two berserkers is pretty neat.

I've played the Grim Patron deck and it got boring, they do need to nerf the warsong commaner though to not give charge to summoned minions off other minions again. It's too strong. If I had a way to charge to a minion in priest I'd have this style deck with the heal trigger guys. As is, I've hit someone for 30+ in one swing on T5 with it.

They need to nerf warsong, and add a new neutral minion that gives charge to adjacent minions or can give 1 minion charge. Maybe deathrattle, give your minions charge...something to allow other than warrior to make some fun burst down decks.

I it is a combo deck though, so it's not 100% reliable, I'm pretty strong against it as a control warrior deck because my health stays around 20-30 while my armor can shoot up to another 20-30 and they can't burst me down in 1 turn. But as control priest, I have been burst down from 25+ life to 0 in 1 turn with them having nothing on the board

Crazy. I've seen new decks that focus on TONS of card draw and armor for Warrior. It's an interesting deck but I beat it that one time I played it. Your deck, I haven't quite seen that one in casual.

I keep card draw out of my control decks as much as I can for 2 reasons. One, Fatigue Rogue is brutal against control. (Just google that, it's basically flooding your opponent with card draws using Coldlight Oracle and making their draws be burned out and killing them with damage for drawing from an empty deck). I have that deck made right now and it can do well pretty consistently.

The other reason is in a mirror match, it often can go down to who has cards left in their deck and who starts taking draw-damage first. So when I play other control priest decks, they will sometimes (often) include those Northshire Clerics and Power Word: Shields. I do not.

Btw, I shouldn't have jinxed myself. I got hit yesterday for about 60 in a turn by that damn warrior combo. He had 0 creatures on the field and I had like 50+ health/armor. It was pretty annoying. I had 2 creatures on the board and those helped him by increasing the dmg triggers for berserker guy.

My Control Warrior deck has been really fun lately, I am bouncing between that and my Secret Face-Hunter deck.

Watch Adam And I Open 55 Grand Tournament Packs - Spoiler Alert One Of Us Gets Justicar Trueheart

When Adam and I heard there was a new Hearthstone release we started hoarding our daily quest gold. When the Grand Tournament launched today I had enough gold saved for 28 packs and he had 27. Adam had the idea that we stream our opening of our packs and the video linked above turned out way better than I expected.

We start the stream talking about some of the more interesting Grand Tournament cards then proceed to the main event, opening packs. I'd say Adam drew a much larger spread of cards than I did but I ended up pulling Justicar Trueheart. He also pulled two balls of spiders to which I pulled none.

I didn't pull a Ball of Spiders so I can't comment on it. What I can so far is that i've been mostly playing Shaman and the new cards are a mixed bag so far. I am still tweaking, but so far they are not a slam dunk or anything. I've had some really fun games but few wins.

My Hunter deck is way more versatile but that needs some more tweaking to get it tuned right.

I can't wait to put together a new Paladin deck.

I did like 40-50 of the mage v. hunter brawl to play with the new cards, and I have been doing arena's now (since I had 1400 gold saved up) and I should be able to just do arenas for quite a long time (for instance, spent 150 to enter arena, got to 8 wins and won back 250 gold plus a pack). It's a fun way to play with the new cards too. There's some that are just really good!

Adventures contain 5 tiers of boss fights where you can unlock specific cards. So far there are just two adventures, Naxxramas and Blackrock Mountain. You can pay $25 for each adventure or unlock each tier 700 gold at a time.

So, back to ladder now that I got some of the good new cards. I only have 2 legendary GT cards. I'm still trying to unlock all of nexxramas, so I'm saving my gold for that. I did, however, allow myself to use my gold to purchase one GT pack. Here's what I opened:
Spellslinger x2 (mage class)
Murloc Knight (paladin class)
Bolster (warrior class)
Armored Warhorse (neutral)

I don't think any of these cards fit with my current builds. Next month when I start opening more GT packs, we'll see how they work out.

Justicar Trueheart- Play with mage class. As we saw with the GT brawl prerelease, doing two damage per turn never gets old. And combo with some of the other mage class cards, this ability gets insane.

Spawn of Shadows paired with Greater Heal. You deal 4 damage to both heros then heal yourself for 4.
Fallen Hero!! Money. All the way.
Ball of Spiders. It might not be the best, but it's really fun. It's essentially deal three damage and draw three beast cards for six.

Powershot is crazy useful. Similar to Betrayal.
Sparing Partner is great. Great cost for what it does.
Ancestral Knowledge is only good if you benefit from overload. Otherwise terrible.
My priest deck is going to love Holy Champion.

Blizzard is keeping the hype train real as the days march closer to to it's August release of The Grand Tournament Expansion. According to SuperData Research Hearthstone is doing so well it is leading the pack in sales to the tune of $20 million per month! That's an impressive number considering Hearthstone started out on a small team at Blizzard. Hat tip to them though, the game is incredible and I love opening those free packs and grinding quests for gold. I've known Hearthstone has been successful for Blizzard but we've never known how successful till now.

With Bethesda and EA getting into the digital collectable card game genre it's a good time for people that want to try out different approaches to the genre.
