After finally defeating the Wall of Flesh, my first little world has ventured into Hardmode. It's definitely hard! Although the level of difficulty has increased (due to stronger monsters), I feel like I'm enjoying my first little world all over again. After destroying three Demon Altars, I began my hunt for Cobalt, Mythril, Adamantite, and Crystal Shards. I have found enough Cobalt to upgrade my armor, which is blue and therefore I love it. I am now searching for Mythril to upgrade my armor yet again (I definitely need better armor in this world now). I had to upgrade my pickaxe. With my new Molten Pickaxe, I'm now able to mine Cobalt. Along with the Cobalt, I had to... Read All

Pillow Castle Games, a student team from Carnegie Mellon, has developed a tech demo for a puzzle game that can't come out soon enough.

The basics are pretty straight-forward. Forced perspective mechanics allow you to resize objects in a very intriguing way. But it gets far more complex when portals are introduced. The portals are also resizable and let you essentially grow or shrink the entire world.

This 8 minute video makes me want more. I wouldn't be surprised if an established company tried to hire the members of Pillow Castle in the same way Valve hired the Narbacular Drop team to make Portal. Wherever they end up, I can't wait to play the finished product.

Over the last year I have been enjoying watching the videos by YouTube sensation RetroLibery. Found his latest journey though the classic Super Nintendo game Hook to be particularly fun. Hook isn't a game I played much as lad but after watching this I wish I had. Not many video games made from film are good but a few on the Super Nintendo were. I particularly enjoyed Super Star Wars and always wanted to try Jurassic Park but heard it wasn't great.

That said RetroLibery's Hook review contains a mini-review of the film too so it's like a double rainbow neat. Drop a comment below with your thoughts on the Hook game or the film.

"As a new year begins, and with 5 very successful years in the digital gaming market, GOG.com takes a look at its past."

I dig GOG's style as a company and wish them a happy 5 more years. It's a really easy site to navigate and when you find the game you want to buy, it's available DRM free. Many GOG.com titles come with digital art, game book PDF's and the game score which makes buying from GOG special. One of the reasons I picked up the Neverwinter Nights collection from GOG was to finally have Jeremy Soule's amazing score in my collection as I couldn't find it from any other source.

So, in the comments of my last post, I told you I figured out that the reason the Goblin Tinkerer and Mechanic didn't respawn in my house when I found them (and then they died) was because I didn't create rooms properly. Luckily, after figuring that out, both have respawned. Unfortunately, I thought (well hoped before really reading the wiki thoroughly enough) that the Tinkerer Workstation would allow me to combine some of the items I had. It apparently only works with certain items. Bummer.

So, when I began to play Terraria, I decided to create a small world, since I was just beginning. Now I'm thinking of making a new world, either medium or large. It made sense at... Read All

The new Humble Indie Bundle is out. This one includes To the Moon, Joe Danger 2, Papo y Yo, Bit Trip Runner 2, and if you beat the average, Reus and Surgeon Simulator 2013. If you got there early, you could also snag Starbound if you paid $10 or more, but those are long gone. There were 1000 of them and they were gone in a minute or so. I've been wanting to check out Reus and Papo y Yo for a while now, so I'm glad to jump on board.

"Alienware and Valve, the developers of the world's largest online gaming platform and the creators of the Half-Life franchise, have been collaborating on designing the first dedicated Alienware Steam Machine gaming console."

Valve is showing off the Steam Machines that will release in 2014 right now at CES. As it turns out, Alienware is one such brand to enter the Steam Machine mix and I am really happy about this. Dell's Alienware might be a bit on the expensive end but it provides a pretty great value for your gaming dollar. Alienware has said it's Steam Machine will feature an Intel CPU and Nvida chip but not much more as they plan to talk more about it in detail... Read All

Having a gaming blog is now my new "thing." I've always considered myself a writer and one of the things I want to do with my gaming blog is to write about my experiences in the games I play. That said, you can expect to see lots about Terraria as I've been playing it lately. I also intend to write about Pokemon X, which I've been playing and enjoying as well.

So, during my visits to the Underworld, I noticed Shadow Chests, which require a key to open. I looked on the wiki and found out that those keys are in the Dungeon. I tried to get into the Dungeon, but was killed by the Dungeon Guardian. I, again, looked on the wiki and found out that you have to speak to the Old... Read All

Nintendo dropped a new trailer for the upcoming Zelda game Hyrule Warriors recently. Not a lot is known about the game but we can glean a few things from the video. First off it looks like you can swing your sword at bad guys. Secondly, it looks like you can attack many bad guys at once.

Seriously though, the game play does look great and I imagine because of the increased horse power of the Wii U they can make a Zelda game with a ton more enemies on the screen.

What do you think of Hyrule Warriors? With every new game it seems the reason to pickup a Wii U is more compelling as Nintendo is really hitting a segment of gaming that is very unique and interesting.
