PopCap just released Plants vs. Zombies 2 on Android and I serious recommend you pick it up if you have an Android device. PvZ 2 is a freemium game but it isn't annoying. Where as I would have preferred to pay for it all and not have to spend time unlocking things, I never needed to pay for anything and the games increased challenge was a welcomed addition.
If you nab it on Android give it a go and let me know how it goes!

Worked on my phone :) and yeah, the difficulty is a lot higher in this. You really need to use the superfood wisely and the power-ups. I really like the punchy plants. Set them right behind a walnut and they can punch anything attacking the walnut.

The punch plants are a really nice addition for sure. They kind of fill the gap between the piraña plant and the wallnut, which is nice because they are not too expensive.

Night In The Woods is a new project that just dropped on Kickstarter a few days ago that blew past its initial funding levels. Mixing up some great art and story themes the game really seems to take the gameplay into a sort of indie movie style. According to the Kickstarter they have a very early gameplay prototype being built and are looking for funds to flesh it out and polish it up for release.
"What weâre attempting here is kind of ambitious. We want to create the feeling that the player is actually visiting another world full of unique and well developed characters. This involves combining gameplay elements from a few different genres with a lot of handmade content, including a great deal of unique character animation and environment detail."
Can't fault them for being ambitious but hope the scope of the project is something that can be finished reasonably. That said, what do you think of Night in the Woods?
The past several months of dota have been good. Extremely good. The stability of v6.78 created a strong dependable meta game and a fierce competitive scene.
But all good things must end right?
Hopefully to make room for better things. V6.79 brings a boat load of changes that have turned the meta upside down. The next few months will be an anything goes slug fest as we see old tactics become obsolete and new ones rise in their place. dont believe it? Check this chart that tracks some if the most significant effects on W/L ratio. http://i.imgur.com/hLTqLC8.png

I'd love to talk about the changes in depth and look at the new meta and theory craft. But I'll save it for another time. If it tickles your fancy you can take a look at some thoughts by someone a whole lot smarter than me.
Oh man, I love dota stats...look at the SB hahaha...BITCH. Also, the popularity change for Brood haha, so funny. Not surprising the win rate hasn't gone up terribly much yet. Still too new on changes and people don't know how to play her yet.
Looks like a good time to re-install DoTA 2 and give it a go again. Hopefully this patch gets the game a bit closer to "dat perfect balance."

I tend to approve of icefrog's tendency to buff heroes that aren't quite viable. Rather than bringing others down. While some definitely needed to come down. I'm glad to see broodmother with big buffs. As well as others. It adds more diversity. And makes for more interesting play.

The best part of the datasheet is under popularity change for bloodseeker and broodmother. Lololol

Return to Rapture with Booker and Elizabeth on November 12 with the first installment of the Burial at Sea DLC.
To recap for those who aren't familiar, this DLC takes the main characters of Bioshock: Infinite to Rapture, before it fell into chaos.
If you have the season pass, then you're done-- just download the update when it's released and start playing. Otherwise, it'll set you back $15, as will the second episode. If you're fairly confident you'll want to play both, the season pass is $20, so more bang for your buck!

Blizzard showed off some early details about the Mystic, a new(ish) NPC coming to Diablo III when Reaper of Souls releases. I say "ish" because she was planned for the initial release but was cut before the beta.
The Mystic re-enchants weapons and armor. The basic idea is this: you have an awesome sword for your Barbarian but it has a useless Intelligence roll on it. You can take it to the mystic, pick that roll, and she'll re-roll it to something else. Now, it wouldn't be Diablo if you could pick that roll, there has to be some chance thrown in. So of course, the re-roll may be worse than what you started with, and in this case you can choose to stick with the... Read All

After enchanting an item, it's bound to your account, and while you can keep re-rolling that one attribute, the others are stuck in place. So choose wisely!
This looks like it will make for an interesting new mechanic. I've had quite a few items that were really nice but still worse than what I had because of one bad roll. Now I can change that!
I really like this addition considering the removal of the auction house. I do have one question though, is this coming to Reaper only or the main game?
Not really that it matters to me much, I am getting Reaper day one anyways :D

Classic scare tactics include jarring music, sudden camera movements, and quick shadows in the background. There is a reason why they keep using the same methods to shock the bejeezus out of gamers, that reason being the fact that it works. However, a few special gems have taken all those by-the-book video game horror techniques aside. Enter an iPhone app that you wouldnât even think of buying at first glance â Year Walk by Simogo (http://simogo.com/games/yearwalk/). Letâs have a trek at what this title has in store for its brave players.
A lonesome walk True, the iPhone is not exactly the platform we rush towards when we want to have our daily gaming hunger satisfied. But that is not the point of Year Walk. More than just a game, this app is an experience on a whole different level. Few games, on the iPhone, Android or any other bigger consoles; can match the void created by the title that seems to suck all the fun from the supposedly hip and vibrant iPhone.
Set in the woods of Sweden, Year Walk lets you play as a nameless wanderer in a sort of ritualistic pilgrimage. As the player moves on in the game, he is entrenched in the rich and dark histories and traditions of Sweden. Trapped by its very intuitive game play, this âside scrollerâ gets more and more emotionally draining as you progress â a testament to its effectiveness in suspending its usersâ disbelief (which is terribly difficult to pull off in the new age gaming platform of the iOS).
Beauty in simplicity The game is pretty simple. You walk into the woods. You get faced with puzzles and riddles. You solve them, and move on to the next. The core game is actually really not that much of a challenge, but everything else including your own perception and emotion is. Among other impressive design decisions is the way the animation was rendered.
Minimalist backgrounds with creatures intricately designed, reminiscent of classic fright films such as the Nightmare Before Christmas and The Haunted Mansion. There are so many screenshot worthy moments. Pro tip: tap the home button and the lock button to do a screen grab. Black, subdued screen shots from Year Walk would go well especially with the overly vibrant iPhone 5C. Just take a look at the O2âs iPhone 5C page (http://www.o2.co.uk/iphone/iphone-5c) and look at what Iâm talking about.
A treat for the senses Playing Year Walk definitely made us think about the many brilliant games on the mobile platform that didnât get as much recognition as they deserved. Year Walk went under the radar below louder titles like Marvel: Heroes and Infinity Blade III (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/infinity-blade-iii/id610003290?mt=8), but in all fairness, the little game outclass both of them in terms of engagement.
The sound is magnificently seamed into the game, highlighting key moments and providing haunting ambiance all throughout. Although there is nothing innovative about the music, they used the same old wind chimes, broken chords, the so-called incidental sounds (rustling leaves, wind, footsteps on ice) to create that creepy feel.
A smart (phone) decision Whatâs truly remarkable is the fact that while most iOS games tried to transfer the typical control paradigm from the console to mobile, Year Walk developers created a whole new control design specifically for the iPhone. Since every piece of the screen is precious real estate, the decision to remove unorganized menus, displays, notifications, and all those distracting things are very smart. Year Walk is not like any other game. Opening the app turns your iPhone into a telescope that peeks into the haunting world of Northeastern Europe and Scandinavian folklore â a world hardly ever shown anywhere in the media these days.
Verdict Get it. Year Walk is a piece of the gaming industry that deserves to remain on any self-respecting gamerâs iPhone. Artful, smart, and deeply engrossing, Year Walk is a game that is as enjoyable as it is soul wrenching.
In The Cheerful Ghost Roundtable Episode 7: Halloween Special we take a bit of a break to talk about horror themed games we have played that have had an impact on us. @CapnCurry drops a story during our roundtable about "Gonzo the Norn" that is a must hear. It's a really interesting tale about an experience he had with a particular Norn in Creatures 2. Experience the story that prompted us to spontaneously clap when he was finished.
We also polish off the episode by going over games we'd like to see come to Valve's upcoming SteamOS and Steam Machines. Come for the video game discussion stay for us dressing up strangely!

CapnCurry's story at about 20:00 is amazing! This roundtable is worth listening to because of it! (The rest is fine, but the story is something people really should listen to!)

The Action RPG Path of Exile released on Steam today, and you can play it for free!
Many people compare this favorably to Diablo 3, saying it's the sequel Diablo 2 deserved. Others think it's clunky and awkward. But for $0.00 you can bet I'll be trying it out. I love the aRPG genre and any new contender is welcome.

I was just glancing at what games might be available for my phone (Andriod) and saw that the Final Fantasy games are being ported to Android? Has anyone tried any of these? I honestly never paid too much attention to which FF in North America translates to the original number, but I suppose I'll finally have to figure it out now!
Here's FFIV, which I think was FFII for the SNES? Looks like it's been remade in 3D?

lol, it's all good man. It does look cutesy, but I might be able to get over that if I'm able to play it on my phone. Still undecided if I'll get it or the others.
I haven't tried any of them yet, but plan to. I really like that they are going back and updating the graphics. Even the original FF is there with a fresh coat of paint. They seem to be using the numbering as released in Japan rather than the US. like FF IV was our II.
Hmm $16 though.... I really hate spending more than $5 on something I already own for a different platform =[ FFV is on sale tho for $11 right now. Only 142 MB too

Like many of you guys I am really excited about SteamOS and Steam Machines. So much so that I have been creating a mental list of games i'd love to see ported. I don't hold out hope for many of these, but if by some chance it were to happen but one can dream right?
terraria
I'll admit, this is kind of a cheat answer. It's not so much that I want to play Terraria on a console as much as I want to get Terraria off Windows. If Terraria were on Mac or Linux it would make my life much simpler and SteamOS would be an awesome benefit. That said, Terraria tops my list and if it were to be ported I would be elated.

skyrim
Getting a solid triple A game that people love ported to SteamOS would really give the platform some solid footing. Not to say every Valve title isn't enough already, but the more the merrier and Skyrim is a game we should have access to on modern platforms until... forever. Plus, I am certain i'd play this more if I could play it in the living room and sync my saves between the PC. My Dovakin needs a new home on SteamOS.
borderlands
The original Borderlands was nothing short of incredible and I hope this classic gets ported to SteamOS. By rights Borderlands 2 would be ported first, if any Borderlands come at all, but because of my affinity to it i'd love a port of the original. I have been wanting to head back to Pandora and would love to do that when SteamOS drops.
destiny
I can't help but want to play Bungee's next game because it looks so great. The world looks compelling, the story looks good and the shooting looks top notch. It's basically the most non-Halo Halo sequel in the works and would love to give it a spin. Bungee hasn't ruled out a PC release going forward so that may open the door for a possible SteamOS release given when Destiny launches in relation to it's PC port and release of SteamOS. It feels like a long-shot, but one can certainly dream :D
super meat boy
Super Meat Boy was made to be played on a console with a great controller and I would love to break in my new Steam Machine with it. Super Meat Boy runs really well on Windows and has a great Linux port that is currently not available on Steam. Hopefully Team Meat can shore up some resources to get it on Linux on Steam at some point. Since SteamOS will be based on Linux and allow some kinds of modification, I imagine installing Super Meat Boy would be possible. That said, having a fully integrated experience would be better and because of this I hope Meat Boy comes to SteamOS.
torchlight ii
Torchlight is a great hack-n-slash game that could work very well with a controller in your living room. The original Torchlight was ported to Mac and Linux on Steam and I am holding out hope that Torchlight II can make the jump as well.
fallout 3
Fallout 3 is one of the most "stand out" bad-ass games of the last 5 years. The story, game play and tone are superb and I am chomping at the bit to head back to the vault to be born again. I am curious to see the outcome if I take the "dark path" as I did my best to be good during my first play through. Wanting a port of Fallout 3 seems like a huge stretch to me but, again, it would still be awesome.
So that's my current list as it sits with me right now. So what do you think, what games would you want to see ported to SteamOS if anything at all?
I really wanted to try this out, but it's not compatible with my phone unfortunately.
What? Wow. Does it require the latest Android?
I guess so? I think I have the most up to date operating system. Maybe it just doesn't like my Galaxy S2.
Worked on my phone :) and yeah, the difficulty is a lot higher in this. You really need to use the superfood wisely and the power-ups. I really like the punchy plants. Set them right behind a walnut and they can punch anything attacking the walnut.
