If you missed the Doom closed beta, iD is opening up the doors to hell to allow anyone the ability to try it before launch.

"If you were unable to join us for our recent DOOM closed multiplayer beta, you’re in luck! From April 15 through 17, you’ll be able to jump straight into the open beta – no code necessary. Simply download the beta and let the viscera fly. Like the closed beta, you’ll have access to Team Deathmatch and Warpath on the Heatwave and Infernal maps."

The open beta is a couple minutes away and I wanted to show you the new Doom cinematic trailer. It's a fully CG rendered trailer using a song that sounds like it came from 90's alt radio. Seriously, this song sounds like a newer version of Saliva's Click, Click Boom with double barreled shotgun blasts to demon face visuals.

YouTuber Yangyugi cut up a video comparing the original 1994 Doom to the 2016 remake and it's pretty fun. Most of the same stuff can happen in both games but it's fairly obvious the new game is a remake of the old one. Which isn't a bad thing at all.

Get your BFGs ready, folks. The Doom beta is coming on March 31 and will last a whopping four days, ending on April 3!

In addition, there's a new multiplayer trailer to gawk at.

I'm just interested to find out whether my PC can run the game at all!

If you haven't registered for the beta, you can do so here: http://neworder.wolfenstein.com/en-gb/doom

Physical copies came with a code. If you pre-ordered The New Order on Steam, it should just unlock for you when the time comes, but if you got it digitally somewhere else, you should have been emailed a code.

One thing I have been wondering lately is when will the Doom beta come? If you're like me you pre-ordered Wolfenstein The New Order and noticed they promised access to the Doom beta. iD Software had a very limited multiplayer alpha and so far and scant news on an upcoming beta. This latest chapter in the new Doom franchise ships on May 13th so if they plan on letting us in to the beta soon would be good. At least I hope it comes soon because killing demons is a thing we all should do sooner.

As always when the beta news drops i'll post it here. Until then, check out the poll voting for the alternate game reversible cover art. The Twitter poll is below and I am... Read All

Twitter user Unreal389 asked the official Doom twitter handle about how much time the new Doom single player mission would take to complete. Since I can't stop cramming my brain with new Doom news, the tweet is below.

"@Unreal389 The difficulty level plays a factor, but folks playing at the office average 13+ hours in the campaign"

13+ hours seems like a reasonable amount of time for the single player campaign. I plan on spending as much or more time building levels in Snapmap and i'll also give multiplayer a try.

Bethesda has been keeping the new Doom hype train going and recently dropped more information about the... Read All

Back in the 90's the Doom craze was real. Doom mania didn't quite hit Nintendo level highs as there wasn't a Doom cereal or cartoon. That said, iD Software did fun things with the brand and one amazing creation from that era was a Doom comic book, the a story of a psychotic marine that absolutely loves killing Demons with his fists. This guy has such a crazy obsession with carnage the story hugs the bizarre but contains a special glow that only the 90's could produce.

Want some dialog for posterity sake? I am sure you do.

"I'm cookin' with gas! I've gotta handful of vertebrae and a headful of mad! Yeah, that's your spinal cord baby! Dig it! Who's the man? I'm the man!... Read All

The Demons of the new Doom title will infest Mars base on PC, PS4 and XBone on May 13th. In a trailer that is both disturbing and a bit crazy I can say that I am both excited and bit perplexed. I don't mind gore at all, I own Quentin Tarantino and Ridley Scott movies. That said, this trailer is so over the top as to run up against a bit of puzzlement in my mind. I mean at one point in the trailer you smash a human eye socket into a terminal with a sort of discarded detachment that makes me wonder if the player is actually... human? Regardless of all of that, I will be picking up the new Doom and giving it a go as the single player does look good and the Snap Map... Read All

Game Informer has an incredible spread on the new Doom game that is slowly unlocking over the next couple days. In the next couple days they will do a story on Dooms new Snapmap feature which is the coolest part about the new game in my opinion. The detail and love iD is putting into the game really shows and it does seem to be a love letter to the feel of the original.

No exact date is set yet but it should be in the first couple months of this year. Doom is coming out on PC, PS4 and XBox One and I am curious how you plan on playing it and if you are going to pick this one up on launch day?

In 1993 iD Software melted the faces off the entire world with the release of Doom on DOS. Doom was a masterpiece of violence and gore that ushered in a new era of gaming with the First Person Shooter. iD created some very iconic work such as Wolfenstein, Doom and Quake and as many books and documentaries have been dedicated to the topic. I recently saw one you all need to check out and is linked above. The video is somewhat dated in that it was released in a post Rage world but it mentions the upcoming Doom reboot and the sale of the company to Zenimax/Bethesda.
