The place for conversation that doesn't make sense to talk about in any specific game in our list. Think of General Discussion as a "catch all" for conversations about gaming, game culture or anything else worth sharing.

"Videogames are addictive. FACT. But how seriously should we take gamer addictions? There is scientific proof that brain scans of excessive gamers are similar to drug addicts, and addiction to videogames can even destroy lives, just like alcoholics or junkies. And with advancements in technology, game developers are continuing to create games that are EVEN MORE engrossing. Should we worry about gamers, or possibly even regulate the industry?"

Whereas I don't agree with any industry regulation for video games, the idea of video game addiction is interesting to me. No question some people get wrapped up and spend way too much time in video games, take for instance myself... Read All

In this video appeal to Valve founder Gabe Newell, Francis asks to be let into the Steam Console beta. Who wouldn't want that right? He poses some very interesting questions about the durability of the Steambox and the new Steam controller. Specifically if the new Steambox will be able to survive a hit from an axe. He also wonders if the new Steam controller will be able to survive being thrown against the wall, you know because Super Meat Boy is hard.

At Blizzcon, a question was posed asking if Blizzard would consider making these games work for modern PCs, and as it turns out, they're already on it!

"So, we actually have a guy on our team — actually several guys on our team — who are actually working on a side project to do something like that in some form or fashion. We're fans of Warcraft 1, Warcraft 2, Warcraft 3, and we'd love to replay those games for sure."

Good news for fans of Blizzard's older games. I personally also hope they're working on Diablo, Diablo 2, and Starcraft. All I need is a widescreen resolution, Blizz.

"Do you want to make the world a slightly better place and be rewarded some games for being an awesome human being? It's simple: choose a charity you like from the three we have here (WWF, Worldbuilders, and Gaming for Good), pick out 3 games you like out of 13 offered, pay $5 or more, and we will give 100% of your donation to charity*! You can also pick more than 3 games, and your minimum donation will be raised accordingly. Want to donate more? No problem--you can set the amount manually. Don't need the games, or already have them? Select the "Gift this order" option at the checkout, and make some other gamer happy."

GOG.com is running a charity bundle featuring some... Read All

The Playstation 4 will release November 15th but there are already unboxing videos flying around the interwebs and this morning I saw one that was really interesting. Wired Gadget Lab posted a video exclusive of Sony's Engineering Directory Yasuhiro Ootori unboxing the new system and taking it apart. A really fun video and he does a great job explaining what everything inside the new system is. Watch the magic below:

This was a special episode of the Cheerful Ghost Roundtable as @CapnCurry and @Travis were out hunting Vampires that sparkle. We talk a bit about the games we are playing and dive in to some awesome game news.

We give our thoughts on the new Starbound Beta and just how much of it we will play. We both break down some new Steam Machine news and Valve's promise to not release SteamOS exclusives. We round things off with some PS4 happenings as well as some awesome games on Kickstarter right now.

As always, if you don't watch and subscribe to your YouTube channel, Mario needs to go to one more castle to find the Princess.

"Jonathan Blow is an independent video game developer best known as the creator of Braid. He’s been developing a new game called The Witness with a team of 3D modelers, programmers, and architects since 2009. It will be released when it is done, hopefully in late 2013. He’s interested in pushing gaming to its full realization as an art form and his talk is about the unique and exciting properties of the medium of video games, and ways in which forward-thinking designers are pushing the medium."

Creative Mornings is a really awesome thing that happens in Portland. A few months ago they got Jonathan Blow to give a talk and I was signed up to attend. Then I forgot to set... Read All

"Games make us ANGRY. Who hasn't come down to the wire in Street Fighter IV, toe to toe with some jerk named "ryukiller4eva", and suddenly you make a stupid mistake and KO, you are done. What do you do? Take a deep breath, slam your controller against the wall, try to pull it into two pieces, scream? Experiencing anger while we play video games is very real, but why does it happen, and does it help us? There are physiological reasons, emotional reasons, and psychological reasons for our anger, and your crazy drive and steaming ears just might help you succeed. Watch and learn why video games make us so angry!"

Interesting break down from Game/Show of why video games... Read All

IGN said: “Year Walk is one of the creepiest, most atmospheric games to ever hit phones or tablets. Take a walk in the woods.”

Classic scare tactics include jarring music, sudden camera movements, and quick shadows in the background. There is a reason why they keep using the same methods to shock the bejeezus out of gamers, that reason being the fact that it works. However, a few special gems have taken all those by-the-book video game horror techniques aside. Enter an iPhone app that you wouldn’t even think of buying at first glance – Year Walk by Simogo (http://simogo.com/games/yearwalk/).
