Blizzard Will Announce A New Hearthstone Adventure On July 28th

There have been rumblings in the Hearthstone community of a new adventure for the last couple weeks. In the video linked above Disguised Toast makes a pretty good case for the new adventure being themed after the World of Warcraft area Karazhan and might also be focused on the Mage class. I've been saving up my gold and have enough for 4 adventure wings and a almost have enough to open another 20 packs. Not sure if I want to open Classic or Whispers of the Old Gods packs but i'm sure either choice would be a good one. Morgl the Oracle Hero Comes To Hearthstone If You Can Get a Friend To Play

Today Blizzard dropped a new Hearthstone update that added a cool new Shaman hero, Morgl The Oracle. Morgl is available to earn in game if you refer a friend to Hearthsone and they make it to level 20. After you earn Morgl and have more friends sign up you can get a free pack for four more friends.

Try These Two Cheap Hearthstone Warrior Decks

If you're like me you play Hearthstone but are free to play or don't spend much therefore you don't have every card. This means you need to work within a constrained gold(what you earn from dailies) and dust budget. This isn't too bad, but at times can seem like you don't have options to play with fun decks but recently I've found two decks that are really good and can be created fairly easily. Building a Warlock Burst Zoo Deck on a Budget

Recently my partner and I had a kid so I haven't had as much time to game as I usually do. That said, Hearthstone is a good game to play if you only have one hand free when the other one is consoling your crying baby. Sometimes I have to put the phone down for a second to readjust my hold with him but if I am sitting on the couch it works out really well. I'm also a Hearthstone free to play player so like many, I don't have every card available to me but enjoy playing constructed and like trying out the new meta decks. One such deck to emerge post Whispers of the Old Gods is Warlock Burst Zoo. Warlock has always been great with Zoo but it's stepped up a bit... I recently built a Warlock Zoo deck from a recipe but since I don't have all the cards for it I had to make some substitutions. Sometimes you really can't sub out certain cards for others but in this case I think they worked out well. Here is the deck I based my alteration on for you to check out:

As you can see, the deck is mostly commons and rares with a few legendaries and one epic and I subbed out all the Legendaries and epics for other cards. Substitutions I made include:

Reckless Rocketeer for Leery Jenkins. With Arcane Golem nerfed into the dirt, Leeroy is a very viable card now. That said, I don't have it as it's a Legendary so for now I think substituting Reckless Rocketeer is a good choice. Reckless costs one more mana but it's the same stats and I think the tradeoff is pretty solid. Reckless/Leeroy allow you to cast Power Overwhelming to burst your opponent to death as a possible deck win condition. Argent Squire for Gormok the Impaler. Yeah ok, this isn't a fair substitution but there really isn't a cheap replacement for Gormok. Since I don't have Gormok and I also dropped Crazed Alchemist as I didn't find it that useful most of the time I added two Argent Squires to make the deck more quick and added a pinch more Aggro. Argent works well with the buffs this deck can produce and is a very solid turn one. Northsea Kraken for Sea Giant. Again, this isn't a perfect sub but one that works pretty well for this deck. At turn 9 Kraken is both removal and a huge minion making your opponent have to deal with it or lose. Sea Giant is incredible in this deck because it costs less per each minion in play but if you don't have it, like me, Northsea Kraken is a solid replacement. Reflecting On One Year of Hearthstone

A little more than a year ago Blizzard released Hearthstone on smartphones and that hooked me. Up till that point Hearthstone didn't really interest me but something about playing it on my phone made the experience magical. Naxxramas, Blackrock Mountain and Goblins VS Gnomes were the only released adventures and expansions then and I spent most of my time collecting gold and learning how to play. Anyway, I appreciate your perspective on the game. It seems you did something rightly smart. I am really glad that you shared one of the tools you've found to be very helpful, the YouTuber. I may have to check that out. Watching YouTube on my TV at night is part of my nightly routine. :)

I've used the deck builder tool to help suggest cards I should put in my deck. I'm not opposed to finding a good recipe (as they have now) and copying it. It would be a cool way to learn how to play more effectively and even with different strategies.

I like the freebies they recently gave us, well they're free if you complete those challenges, which I managed to do some how. I've seen C'Thun used in matches I've played, but I don't think I've ever used it myself.

Back to Adventure Mode, that is what I liked most about the game. I wish this part of the game was so much bigger and wasn't so expensive. I've unlocked some with in-game gold, but I think it'd probably take me a week to get enough to unlock another.

Watching the Kripp show on TV at night is awesome, it's one of my new favorite times of the day. Besides lunch.

Yeah, the Blizz decks are pretty fun too. I've been impressed with how well they actually do.

There is another one coming out next according to the path Blizzard has layed out. It will, most likely, be another $20 so to date they've released 3 adventures with this other one on the way. And I wish they'd do more per year too but right now, that seems unlikely.

Build This Double Old God Deck For Double The Fun

Kripp has published a couple of his decks after Whispers of the Old Gods launched and I wanted to share one I really enjoy playing with. I made quite a few changes to this deck to combat aggro and zoo in that I replaced Sap, Thalnos & Xaril with Eviscerate and Beckoner of Evil(I also don't currently own Xaril, or else I'd run her in my deck). I also replaced Loot Hoarder with Undercity Huckster as they trade a bit better with early game at 2/2 and get you the draw you need off your opponent instead of drawing from your deck.

I Heard The Whisper And Serve C'Thun

By the time it was official Blizzard was releasing a new Hearthstone expansion I was excited as I thought the game was getting a bit stale. When Blizzard first talked about standard mode, I was interested and liked the constant rotation of cards entering and leaving the game. I was heartened when they said everyone was getting a free C’thun, some support minions and a few free packs. Pally was at 30 health when I passed my last turn. He attacked my refreshment vendor taking him to 27... then drew the final piece if the combo (PS, the 2nd Power Overwheling was off of dark peddler, this is a Reno C'Thun combo deck lol

For the record, my wins are sitting at:

Warrior - 288
Shaman - 169
Rogue - 175
Paladin - 238
Hunter - 373
Druid - 349
Warlock - 159
Mage - 239
Priest - 500+ (who knows)

Says I have 3266 total wins... but I don't know all what is added up to get that. If only the class wins, then that leaves 1,276 wins for Priest, and I did think it might be 1000, so what's another 276 lol.

Still only an 11 win arena run (can't get that 12 cap) with 1643 total wins in arena.

Yeah, I am focusing on how to play around certain kinds of class cards. It's got me a few times where my board gets wiped but I totally played into it. I have to mentally remind myself, this could be coming how do we play to that.

Yeah for sure. Like always be prepared for a brawl. If you control the board, don't flood it. The best T8 play can sometimes be to just attack, use power, pass. I miss Loatheb for that very thing. Was great to throw him out and know they can't flame strike next turn.

I am glad light bomb is out TBH. Priest has lots of removal options.

But yeah, i've been getting more comfortable with a power pass. When I saw people do it I was surprised but it makes sense to work with what you have or pass in some situations.

Spent Sunday Praising Yogg at The Taco House - My First Local Hearthstone Tournament

So this might not come as a surprise to anyone that reads Cheerful Ghost regularly but I enjoy a good game of Hearthstone every now and again. For quite some time i've seen that there is a regular Hearthstone gathering at The Original Taco House off Powell and I finally made it out for my first event. I'll set the mood with the Taco House bracket rules below...

Needless to say the couple days before the event I was nervous. Will I totally shit the bed and lose my ass off? I wasn't sure but I played quite a few ladder matches to prepare and tried honing my four decks with a friend*. With it being my first event I also decided to keep my expectations manageable in that I simply wanted to walk away with one game win. As it turns out I did win a single game and considering my free-to-pleb status was happy with how it all turned out.

My first bracket was a buy, which basically means I wasn't paired with anyone and I moved to the second tier automagically. If you don't have a certain amount of participants people will buy up to the next bracket. My first proper bracket match went well and I won with my Warrior. The person I was paired with was great so getting a win was something I didn't expect. The second match I won with my Shaman and then lost the third match with my Rogue. I proceeded to lose the next match and then took the bracket with a final win. Totally unexpected and very happily I took a bathroom break while I collected all my nerves for the next match up.

In the third bracket I didn't fair as well but was happy to have an exceptionally fun moment where my Warrior brawled while I had Sylvanas to steal their fully shielded Tirion Fordring. That epic play didn't seal the match as they handily stomped me for the win. The remaining games of that bracket were also lost sealing the day with a showing I am really proud of.

I couldn't have played a tournament at a more fun venue as The Taco House as it was my favorite haunt when I lived over in SE Portland. Having such an awesome community at an event was really incredible and if you are on the fence about heading down to the Taco House I can say everyone was friendly and accommodating. I plan on hitting up another event and if you are in the neighborhood and want to toss down a few cards with some very good players in Portland I recommend you check it out.

Hearthstone Dailies For Ghosts: ep. 11 Final Whispers Packs & New Decks

The Old Gods is out and with it come a bunch of new decks and strategies. In this episode I open the final 10 free Whispers of the Old Gods packs(spoiler alert, I open a Legendary and 2 epics) and then play some matches with my new Warlock Zoo, Pirate Warrior and C'thun Rogue.

I also recently crafted my first legendary Sylvanas Windrunner. She has been a great addition to my decks and it was well worth the dust!

I'm glad I'm not the only one tired of losing all the time. I like the game, but playing against other people makes me feel awful. In fact, I'm not sure I can think of a game that makes me feel as terrible as this one does. That's pretty much why I don't play it. I don't like playing against other people and losing so much.

Jordan, I'm not sure if what you shared is worth it. You can probably find strategies all around the Interwebs for free. I'd certainly like to find some that will help, but I think if I invested some time into it I could probably find some really good info out there. Let me know if you decide to get this and if it really helps.

(BTW Jon, if you have some really good resources and tips, please share!)

Greg: I removed that post and banned the user, it was SPAM to some ebook or something. I've had users create accounts from the same place that person did and they post similar SPAM.

I understand not liking to lose, I get that. I lose all the time, but I win some and win more now but I had some ROUGH patches that took along time to push through.

I'm going to consult with a friend about what we'd do if we started now and wanted to play. I thought about that today and I want to write something about it.

I think if I spend some more time searching for help w/ Google, I can figure it out and get better. I'm really hoping that the game really does match me with similar players. Something to read might be easier to constantly access. A video might be easier to make though. To start, I'm interested in how to build a good deck. I've used the Deck Builder, but that might not be good enough. So, if you wanted to show a video about how to build a good deck (with each Hero) and some things that could go into, that'd be great. Keep in mind, we don't have the awesome cards that you do.

If we had a post here on the site that we all could see, then other players (especially our members) could also provide input. It would also give us a place for questions and comments. You could also share some good resources you've found on the interwebs. :)

Flawless victory today, I'm stopping there since I finished all my Quests!!! I've deleted all of my decks and have decided to remake them as needed for Quests. I had one win left to get with my Shaman and I got it. I also had to win 3 with any Hero and then 2 with Rogue or Druid. So, I rebuilt those decks using the Classic recipe and got my 3 needed wins. I'm really happy that I completed my Dailies.

One of the things about this game is that you can attack the player or their creatures. So, I'm thinking it's probably best to try to kill their creatures off if you can. Then you can "go face" as Jon likes to say in his videos. LOL

Just a random strategy that I used a lot in the beginning:

When creating a deck, use the filter to find minions with "Taunt." Stack your deck with these and then keep hitting face. Your opponent will have to worry about clearing the taunt enemies before getting to your hero. Of course this isn't a fool proof strategy, but it works fairly well.

Also, playing Arena forces you to use cards you might not usually use, and play them in combinations you might not have thought of :)

Having board advantage is good. If you don't take care of creatures they will roll you so yeah, that's a great strategy.

That is a good idea, Adam. I've seen people attack some of my creatures with their Hero, which at first I thought wasn't a good idea, because they took Hero damage, but I have realized that it's better to sacrifice a few Health to prevent more damage. My games (wins) were beautiful today. I cleared their side of the board and "went face" quite a few times. Oh it was lovely. A while ago, I nearly killed an opponent twice, but they managed to refill their health a couple of times and took me down in the end.

The same thing happened to me yesterday! I was playing against a Warrior who was super armor heavy. I did a ton of damage upfront, but when he finally killed me, he had 10 health, but 31 armor lol. But those loses are usually good learning experiences :)

Hearthstone Dailies For Ghosts: ep. 10 Whispers Of The Old Gods Launch Day Pack Opening & Trololo

In this special episode of Hearthstone Dailies for Ghosts I open 50 packs of Whispers of the Old Gods cards. After some unforunate technical launch day glitches I start things up.

A couple notes:

I open the worst Legendary you can. WHICH ONE? Find out.

I open the second worst? Legendary you can.

Is the game Trolling me?

That said I consider this a pretty lucky set of opens even though I didn't get so lucky in opening Legendaries. One saving grace was that it was a golden so I can craft a proper Legendary.

I am a free to play player and these packs were purchased entirely with gold.

Yeah, it's nice. I play so many crazy golden cards off it. Mostly pulling Golden Xaril which I may craft. Xaril is SOOO good. At this point I may craft Sylvanis or Xaril. It's actually been OK. Lots of really dry spells grinding for gold. Months of only opening the one free Tavern Brawl classic pack or the one you can occasionally get from quests. That said, Hearthstone is still very fun and I enjoy playing a lot. It was harder earlier on but now that I have a pretty good collection things are much better.

Agreed. Now I can craft a proper Legendary. I keep golden cards most of the time. Glad I did in the case of blade flurry because when it was nerfed I got 800 dust! I keep all my cards, golden or otherwise unless I need the dust, which is rare. Usually I spend dust on commons & rares but this time may be different.

Still unsure entirely what to craft so i'll hold off a week or so to decide. It's easier to spend dust and gold than get it back

Well, I'll provide some feedback of new ones as I use them. I have all but 3 of the new legs. Between the packs and 16k dust, I just grabbed almost everything.

New ragnaros is boss.

I put together a divine shield paly deck and added him as a topper (using challenger too). The priest I was playing literally shut me out all game.

T1 cleric keeps me from pooping a soldier he can kill and heal/draw from. So I put out the +1/+1 secret for team and wait.

When I finally play, I put out the 3/3 that gives shield to 1 toughness creatures. And I put out the defender secret. He pains the 3/3 and swings in to my now unprotected 2/1 secret defender. Kills it and heal/draws....

Ugg. I can only throw out soldier next turn (was holding blood knight). He steals it with cabal.

I cast the 5 mana 5 soldier spell and even throw off the resurrect secret (since I'm hoping my +1/+1 secret buffs my team). Well, he clears the board with excavated evil. But he doesn't kill the revived soldier. So my secret procs next turn to give me a lone 2/2 soldier. I trade it with the weakened cabal and I drop a mysterious challenger. He shadow words it. It comes back with 1 hp, he shadow words it again. FFS lol

I slam ragnaros down proudly knowing he's out of shadow word, fully expecting entomb tho. Heals me for 8.

He can't kill it. Next turn I give it +3/0 and divine shield, cast sword that buffs shielded minions by +1/+1, play my knight to steal shield to be a 6/6 himself, smash face for 13 (cadence procd too) and heal for 8.... It's gg from there.

Also, the new hogger was my last craft with my last dust... Not disappointed. Gotten so many creatures off him compared to they old one. Also.. Consider him as a defence to cthun. Each time he gets hit, instant new 2/2 body. If your board is empty and he plays Cthun, hogger can potentially proc 6 times before he dies, giving you 12 extra toughness to absorb the dmg. I've heard many people say new Hogger is bad but he looks really good. Nice to hear you are having a good time with him and good to know about him soaking so much from C'Thun in a good way. I hadn't considered that before, but it makes sense!

Bina and I got together tonight and challenged each other to the best out of three with these rules.

1. We pick a class for the other person.
2. You can only use Standard commons and basic cards.
3. You can only spend 5 minutes making the deck.

We went best of three and Bina won the series in our 3 matchup. It was really fun and I recommend it if people have friends to try it with. You can mix up the rules as you want too. I like the making the deck in a limited time though.

Right. It basically means, unless you cheat, you can't net deck and have to use cards that mostly everyone has. It was fun I played with cards I wouldn't otherwise.

Yeah, it's a great format. I don't love the 150 gold to play model though.

That said, I plan on playing more this year so that should be interesting.

Hearthstone Dailies For Ghosts: Episode 9 Saying Goodbye To Cards Rotating From Standard

On this eve of The Whispers Of The Old Gods expansion launch I take a look back at the cards that will be rotating out of the new Standard game mode. First up I say goodbye and good riddance to some of my most disliked cards. Finally I round things off nearly shedding a tear for some of my most loved Naxxramas cards. It's a bittersweet time because the Whispers of the Old Gods expansion looks so great yet we are losing so many fun cards. I guess we will always have Wild!

Blizzard Releases The Entire Whispers of The Old Gods Card List

Hearthstone Lead Designer Ben Brode and commentator Frodan hosted a Twitch live stream earlier today where they played a couple matches with the new Whispers of the Old Gods card set. If you are interested in seeing Old Cards decks in action the stream is a must watch. All of the decks they played with were incredible fun to see and I am really interested to see how the game changes with so many new and crazy cards in play.
