Cygnus Destroyer runs The Super Mario Brothers Movie through the Innocent Until Proven Guilty court and I thought his verdict was fair. What do you think though? Is the Super Mario Brothers movie a gaming film classic or is it a steaming pile of goomba poop we all need to let go of?

I'm not going to lie. I like the 1993 Bob Hoskins, John Leguizamo & Dennis Hopper Super Mario Brothers movie. Are nostalgia goggles blinding me to the reality that this movie is total junk? It's possible but I'm ok with that.

What is your favorite odd console? The Metal Jesus and the crew answer that in a really cool video linked above you should watch! I was thinking about my favorite odd console and I think it would have to be the Fairchild. I had a childhood friend that had one and it seemed so strange but the games were pretty fun. I'd never heard of it before I saw it at his house and we played it quite a bit. I didn't love it more than the original Nintendo, which was the hottest game machine out at the time, but we enjoyed playing his Fairchild and I honestly haven't seen one since as they aren't very popular now in the retro community.
Today Nintendo announced the Super Nintendo Classic, the follow up to last years NES Classic mega-hit you couldn't actually buy in stores due to it's crazy popularity. The Super Nintendo Classic will retail for $79.99 and feature 21 classic games such as Contra III, Donkey Kong Country, Earthbound, Final Fantasy VI, F-Zero, Kirby Super Star, Kirby's Dream Course, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Mega Man X, Secret of Mana, Star Fox, Star Fox 2 (previously unreleased), Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting, Super Castlevania IV, Super Ghouls & Ghosts, Super Mario Kart, Super Mario RPG, Super Mario World, Super Metroid, Super Punch-Out & Yoshi's Island.
This line-up is incredible and made even better with the inclusion of the never before released Star Fox 2. Nintendo has tried to clarify that they understand there were supply issues with the NES Classic and are looking to address that by saying:
"We aren't providing specific numbers but we will significantly more units of the Super NES Classic Edition than we did of NES Classic Edition."
I'd certainly love to open one of these under my Christmas tree this year and will immediately buy one if I can get the chance to but i'm not counting on being able to find one reasonably. With the included lineup and ultra low price I think this will be more popular than the NES Classic and be even harder to find because Nintendo won't continue to make them after 2017.

MST3K is coming to Twitch next week for a 6 day marathon live stream. If you have six days to spare or a job where you can put something on in the background you should head over to Twitch and watch the marathon and then after that head over to NetFlix to watch the all new 11th season!
"WE’VE GOT MOVIE SIGN!
We’re celebrating the launch of Shout! Factory TV’s official Twitch channel with a marathon of 38 classic episodes of the cult favorite TV show, Mystery Science Theater 3000. If you’re familiar, you’ll know MST3K’s hilarious movie commentaries are a perfect fit for the Twitch chat experience. If you’re not familiar, well, we could tell you more about Joel, Mike and the bots ‘riffing’ their way through the cheesiest movies ever made, but this video’s got it all covered.
Starting June 26th, you’ll be the subject of a six-day experiment to see how long it takes for the human spirit to break after suffering the type of DEEP HURTING that only the cheesiest movies on the planet can provide. Films like The Killer Shrews, Final Justice and The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed-Up Zombies are part of an all star lineup of cinematic clunkers that The Mads sent us straight from Deep 13."

Not only is the upcoming Diablo III 2.6.0 patch supporting the Necromancer DLC($15) but it's also dropping 3 new zones for free if you have Diablo III: Reaper of Souls. One of the three new zones is The Shrouded Moors and it's featured in the embedded clip above.
"Fetid swamps stretch beyond your vision, obscured by a dense fog that commands malevolent intent. Ancient structures long since abandoned are scattered across the sunken mire, and the absence of human activity might have something to do with an ongoing eerie sense of being watched. Still, despite the sense that something unnatural looms in the distance, the notion that treasure and glory may await tempts even the most cautious being.
Welcome to the Shrouded Moors."
The other two zones are The Temple of the Firstborn and The Realms of Fate. Both look like good additions to the base Diablo III game but the Realms of Fate looks especially interesting as it seems to meld other zones together using a sort of morphing animation.
"The High Heavens are still reeling from the events of the Prime Evil’s assault. While the angelic host works to repair the damage from the atrocities that violated their sacred home, the Archangel of Fate, Itherael, has discovered a curious development in the far corners of his sanctified libraries.
Seamless environmental transitions blend endless possibilities together.
The tomes and history stored within his libraries are changing the heavens themselves, transforming into small pockets reflecting the past, present, and potential futures. Though no one can make sense of why this has occurred, it still poses a threat to Sanctuary. Tyrael invites the nephalem to investigate, his faith in their skills, if not their hearts, still strong."
Some of these zones are teased with an epic boss battle but we can find out for sure when the 2.6.0 patch drops alongside the Necromancer DLC next week!

"Starting with the release of Hearthstone’s next expansion (but applying to ALL Hearthstone card packs), every time you open a Legendary in a card pack, it will be a Legendary card from the same set that you don’t already own. Once you own either the golden or non-golden version of a Legendary card, you won’t get a duplicate of it until you own all the Legendary cards from that set. Soon, you’ll be able to craft a Legendary without the worry of opening it in your next few packs!
In addition, you will never open more copies of any card in a pack than you can use in a single deck—no more opening three or more of the same common, rare, or epic card in one pack!
Beginning with the release of the next expansion, you’re also guaranteed to get a Legendary within your first 10 packs of a new set. The release of a new Hearthstone expansion is a super exciting time, and with this change we hope your pack openings start off on a celebratory note!"
It's about time Hearthstone made changes to opening card packs! These changes should make the game more fun for people that play it casually and for people that spend even a little bit of money on packs. Ben Brode also hinted that these changes would work really well for the next expansion and i'm curious how? Whereas i'm not playing Hearthstone right now i'm really interested in following the game and when the next expansion information drops i'll be reading all about it.
What do you think of the changes to how packs are opened in the next expansion? I mean, a guaranteed Legendary after opening 10 packs? What's not to like?

"Sega Forever is a free and growing classic games collection of nearly every SEGA game ever released from every console era – Master System, Genesis/Mega Drive, Dreamcast, and more. Available on iOS and Android mobile devices.
Sega Forever will ship tomorrow with Sonic the Hedgehog, Comix Zone, Altered Beast, Kid Chameleon and Phantasy Star II. Sonic is already available for free on mobile and I just played it and the controls are quite good for a Sega Genesis port! Since Sega Forever will support controllers on mobile I am wondering if this will come to Apple and Android TV?
Sega Forever games are free with ads or you can buy the ads away for $1.99.

As the smoke clears from E3 a few games I missed are becoming a bit more visible and I learned about one today from Klei Entertainment. Griftlands is a beautiful 2D RPG that looks to blend up elements of Borderlands, Banner Saga and old school RPG's like Final Fantasy to build an interesting.. rogue-like? I can't tell entirely if the game is a rogue-like or it's a standard story based RPG where you can choose a different starting character like Dragon Age: Origins.
Jim Guthrie is doing the music for Griftlands kicking my interest in it up a notch or two. Speaking of the music if Jim... if you are a fan and interested in getting more of his music in a nifty Collectors package he is gearing up to release a Cassette Box Sampler of 7 of his classic albums Sword & Sworcery, Indie Game: The Movie and some of his own Indie rock albums such as "Takes Time." If you are interested you can pre-order the sampler below on Bandcamp.

Griftlands is scheduled to launch early 2018 and i'm curious to hear what you think about it in the comments!

I can't remember when I first saw it (perhaps at the movie theater), how many times I've seen it, or when I last saw it. So, I pretty much remember my first impressions. I thought the Koopa Troopas (giant lizards with small heads) were creepy. Other than that, I guess I liked it. It was kind of disappointing, regarding how loose the staff was with the source, but it was still Super Mario Bros. I pretty much agree with Cygnus here, but if I watched it again, I'd probably see it worse than I remember. Just seeing clips again reminds you how movies have aged.
> Just seeing clips again reminds you how movies have aged.
Yeah, the effects were mostly practical and it really shows with the rubber masks and creature stuff, which I really like.
