For many years, CD's were the best way to listen to music and play video games. Streaming seems to handle what CD's were traditionally used for but from the 80's to early 2000's CD's were the way to go. I still primarily buy music on CD and still think it's a great way to listen to music and even now I find curating my digital music collection is still something I really enjoy. Lazy Game Reviews CD-ROM Retrospective video is an interesting look in the computer CD-ROM and how that shaped PC and console gaming.

"Taking a nostalgic look back at the 'compact disc read only memory' experience! Especially in regards to computer gaming and software in the 1990s. Redbook audio, full motion video, a vast 650+ megabytes of storage, ahh good times."

Feral Games is updating Middle Earth Shadow of Mordor with an all new Nemesis update that adds the ability to see your different nemesis Orcs that will carry over for you to play against in the games sequel Shadow of War. This is a cool update in that it gives the original game a bit more to do and sort of acts as a way for new people to get into the franchise if they were interested in upcoming Shadow of War.

Feral Games is putting Shadow of Mordor GoTY on sale for $4 and to sweeten the chance you give it a shot making the game entirely free to play for the next couple days. $4? Totally free to play for a couple days? Seems like a good time to try it out on PC.

Knights of the Frozen Throne is an all new expansion coming to Hearthstone in August. It features a new card type that changes all the in game heroes to Death Knights that are themed to the class. The announcement video shows off Deathstalker Rexxar which has a battlecry that attacks all enemy minions for 2 and changes his hero power to create a Zombie Minion. Knights of the Frozen throne also look to bring back Deathrattles, a card type that we saw a bit less of after the last set rotation. This expansion is also the first to include an all new single player component that costs no gold or money to play.

"The first steps you’ll take to join the Knights of the Frozen Throne will be within Icecrown Citadel. There you’ll be faced with eight Missions – new single-player content for Hearthstone. Beginning with the Prologue, and then proceeding through grueling battles with Icecrown Citadel’s mightiest denizens, your trial will culminate in a showdown with the Lich King!

Though you risk your soul merely by entering Icecrown Citadel, the Missions will cost you nothing! The rewards for braving them, however, are enticing indeed: after completing all the Missions, you’ll receive a total of three Knights of the Frozen Throne card packs. Completing the Prologue mission will also add a random Legendary Death Knight Hero card to your collection!
"

What do you think of Knights of the Frozen Throne? Does this expansion look like something you will play when it comes out in August?

Games Done Quick is back with it's yearly summer speedrun and so far it's as amazing as ever. If you can spare some time to watch the runs and donate to Doctors Without Borders I encourage you do to so. The next speedrun that will drop in a few minutes is of Doom 2016 then Half-life 2 and Silent Hill 2 wraps up the day. That said if you are up late, Summer Games Done Quick is up all night with you streaming round the clock until this Sunday at midnight!

The Games Done Quick charity run is something I look forward to watching twice a year and it's always good to donate to a great cause!

For many people in The United States this 4th of July holiday is an extra long weekend. As the freedom explosions encompass our neighborhoods I'm curious what you're all playing and watching?

Somehow I missed out on playing Wolfenstein: The Old Blood initially. It was the standalone DLC follow up to Machine Games amazing story driven shooter Wolfenstein: The New Order. After Bethesda revealed that Wolfenstein II is coming out this year I decided to head back to Old Blood to finally play it. The Old Blood is a sequel the The New Order but is confusingly a prequel reboot of the original Wolfenstein game. Old Blood features BJ on a mission that takes him to castle Wolfenstein and in the typical fashion, he is immediately imprisoned and must escape. The game starts off with stealth missions that you must handle with care because the alternative is attacking the Super Mech Nazis with a pipe, something that proved impossible to do. Old Blood uses the same gameplay and great shooting mechanics you expect while providing some reskins of weapons you played in The New Order.

The story in The Old Blood is present but dialed down significantly from The New Order. I'm 2 hours into The Old Blood and so far the lack of focus on the story is my only critique of it. Old Blood is a great Wolfenstein shooter but lacks somewhat compared to the deep narrative that made The New Order special.

Right now the entire Wolfenstein franchise is marked down on Steam so if you have an itch to kill a ton of Nazis it's a good time to pick it up.

I recently read a review on Gizmodo about the NES30 Pro wireless controller by 8Bitdo and it looks fantastic. Heavily modeled after the original NES controller this looks to be aimed squarely at the retro and PC gamer community. The NES30 uses Bluetooth to connect Windows 7, 8, 10, Android, MacOS, Steam, Switch, Rasperry Pi, Wii, Wii U & PS3.

The action on the controller looks like the best of the NES and Super NES world with the analog thumbsticks styled similarly to the Gamecube / Dual Shock controllers. Gizmodo called the NES30 Pro "the best controller for the Switch" and from what I've seen, I don't find that hard to believe.

I'm not going to lie. I like the 1993 Bob Hoskins, John Leguizamo & Dennis Hopper Super Mario Brothers movie. Are nostalgia goggles blinding me to the reality that this movie is total junk? It's possible but I'm ok with that.

Cygnus Destroyer runs The Super Mario Brothers Movie through the Innocent Until Proven Guilty court and I thought his verdict was fair. What do you think though? Is the Super Mario Brothers movie a gaming film classic or is it a steaming pile of goomba poop we all need to let go of?
