The NES30 Pro by 8Bitdo Looks Like The Perfect Wireless Controller

I recently read a review on Gizmodo about the NES30 Pro wireless controller by 8Bitdo and it looks fantastic. Heavily modeled after the original NES controller this looks to be aimed squarely at the retro and PC gamer community. The NES30 uses Bluetooth to connect Windows 7, 8, 10, Android, MacOS, Steam, Switch, Rasperry Pi, Wii, Wii U & PS3.

The action on the controller looks like the best of the NES and Super NES world with the analog thumbsticks styled similarly to the Gamecube / Dual Shock controllers. Gizmodo called the NES30 Pro "the best controller for the Switch" and from what I've seen, I don't find that hard to believe.

Oooooohhhhhh. I want this. It would be perfect for modern retro games like Shovel Knight and Duck Tales Remastered. Modern D-pads don't get the love they deserve.

The NES30 Pro has the shoulder buttons side by side instead of stacked.

That's cool. So the benefit is the dual shoulder buttons? Hmm might want to hold out for that one.

Well, they both have dual shoulder buttons, they are just next to each other instead of stacked.

It's not a deal breaker but my fingers already have the muscle memory to use them stacked and moving inward rather than down for L1 and R1 would take some getting used to.

Right. It would. That seems like that matter more in a traditional shooter and I have the XBox 360 PC controllers for that.

StarCraft Remastered Leaves Hyperspace On August 14th!

StarCraft Remastered will launch on Battle.net August 14th and is available for pre-order for $14.99 right now. Pre-purchased unlocks the unique command center skins Korhal Command Center, Aiur Nexus, and Char Hive. If you purchase StarCraft remastered you unlock a few things in StarCraft II, including Alexei Stukov as a co-op commander and three unique portraits.

StarCraft Remastered comes with the added bonus of being entirely playable via multiplayer with the free StarCraft Anthology released earlier this year. Is anyone planning on picking up as i'm curious if people want to get in a game of multiplayer afterward?

Interesting. One thing that's noteworthy on that pre-order page, it says "Starcraft Anthology required."

I guess it's an interface into that code, in a sense.

I downloaded the podcast and haven't gotten very far into it yet. For now, I just wanted to comment to @Tim. I'm glad you're finally playing FFVIII, the Steam version is the best. Travis introduced me to it in our college days and I fell in love with it. It is my personal favorite. The Ogre games are something I'd like to check out as well.

FFVIII is cool, I'm having fun with it. I just wrapped up disc 1*, so I've made a decent amount of progress so far. I don't know if it will end up in my favorites list though. I'm really not a big fan of the draw system. I'm very glad that I'm playing the steam version where I can use the magic booster add-on to circumvent the draw system for the most part.

*Since it's a digital game there aren't discs, but the game marks your save with what "disc" you would be on if you were playing the PSone version. :)

Cygnus Destroyer Puts The Super Mario Brothers Movie On Trial!

I'm not going to lie. I like the 1993 Bob Hoskins, John Leguizamo & Dennis Hopper Super Mario Brothers movie. Are nostalgia goggles blinding me to the reality that this movie is total junk? It's possible but I'm ok with that.

Cygnus Destroyer runs The Super Mario Brothers Movie through the Innocent Until Proven Guilty court and I thought his verdict was fair. What do you think though? Is the Super Mario Brothers movie a gaming film classic or is it a steaming pile of goomba poop we all need to let go of?

Metal Jesus Crew Talk About Their Favorite Strange Consoles!

What is your favorite odd console? The Metal Jesus and the crew answer that in a really cool video linked above you should watch! I was thinking about my favorite odd console and I think it would have to be the Fairchild. I had a childhood friend that had one and it seemed so strange but the games were pretty fun. I'd never heard of it before I saw it at his house and we played it quite a bit. I didn't love it more than the original Nintendo, which was the hottest game machine out at the time, but we enjoyed playing his Fairchild and I honestly haven't seen one since as they aren't very popular now in the retro community.

Man, we've been on the same page lately. I was thinking about posting something about this, since I just read about it. It seems there are some really good SNES games getting left out such as FFII and Chrono Trigger. I still kind of wish I was able to get a NES Classic. I'd like to get this one, too. I saw something that said a N64 Classic could be next.

The N64 Classic would be a logical step but it's all speculation at this point. I hope they do.

If they keep this up we should get the Switch Classic in 2022!

I did get the NES Classic for Christmas, and honestly, it was fun for a couple weeks, then I forgot about it. The SNES Classic game line up is super tempting though... but I'll probably pass on getting this one.

I am ready to adopt this system you have to give it a loving home. I have other classic systems it will be able to play with and I imagine they will have adventures Toy Story style when I am not looking.
