Rise of Skywalker Friendship Featurette

Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker is coming to theaters December 20th and LucasFilm is in full hype mode. As part of that a brand new featurette is out that focuses on the relationships the cast has built up over 40 years as the series finally comes to an end. This short seems like it would be the kind of thing to hit the special features of a blu-ray release so it's fun to see it now.

Awesome! I don't think there are a lot of cross-platform cross-play games, so that's pretty cool. I intend on playing D:OS2 when I finish w/ this one, but I have other things coming in January that might distract me. I feel like I'm near the end of the game, but I'm not so sure. Thanks to this game, I'm most definitely looking forward to playing the second. I definitely feel that if this one is pretty much a must-play, then the second must be as well. I can see, even though I haven't played that second one, why it's so popular. I'm sure it's really good as is this one.

@Will_Ball, are you going to play D:OS before D:OS2? As I said in my review, from what I've read, I don't believe it's really necessary. Also, if you read my review, you may want to take a look at the additional note I just added. I haven't played D:OS2 yet, so I don't know if this will apply. I expect to get to that game before the end of the year or during the beginning of next year. We'll see, but I will probably very likely write a review for it when I've played enough of it that I'm ready to write about it, just like I've done with D:OS.

Black Widow

The first trailer to Black Widow is out!

I'm still a little worried that this will suffer a similar fate as Rogue One and Solo for (prequels where we know the ultimate outcome, thus making the stakes for the main character not as high, because ultimately they live), but I am more excited for this than I thought I would be.

Maybe because I'm in the middle of a Winter Soldier rewatch (as I'm rewatching it, I honestly wonder if I ever actually saw it? It feels like the first time I'm seeing scenes in it lol), but I'm just lately getting into Nat's character. Awesome! The only thing that's always bothered me about Black Widow is that I always thought she was from Russia (or the area), but she doesn't have a fitting accent. The other characters in the trailer from her past do, I wonder if that ever gets explained.

There is the Endgame question, too. Didn't Cap return the soul stone? If so, does that mean Nat comes back? Maybe Tony's sacrifice brought her back. Although, she could be "back" but only in an alternate timeline. Maybe some of the characters she reunites with return in later movies and (Disney+) shows.

Thanks for sharing the trailer! I recently got caught up w/ the MCU movies and have been watching a YouTube channel called New Rockstars, which analyzes these movies (and more like Star Wars, I wrote a post about it in the forums).

I realize that for sure, Travis. I was just speculating on a "what if" post-Endgame thought. I think it was New Rockstars that said it should take place just after Civil War. This was before the trailer was released. I guess the question of this movie is, why? Why are they showing us this? Does it some how connect to past or future MCU movies and/or Disney+ shows? Or does it just fill out the character, letting us get to know her better. Maybe I'm looking too deep into it.

Yeah, Jon, well yeah, Adam did kind of put a spoiler in the post, so I've kind of gone with the assumption that all of us here have seen Endgame. I think you're joking, though, it's hard to be sure. LOL Still, I'm glad I just recently watched Endgame. Although, I knew of Tony's fate before I watched it, I some how caught a spoiler, but that didn't make it any less dramatic, I just didn't know how it happened or when.

What if everything about Black Widow taking place in the past turns out to be only the first half of the movie, with the second half being in the MCU present day, with Belova fighting as a good guy? Perhaps Nat captures Taskmaster, but somehow he escapes in the present day, and Belova is recruited by Fury to hunt him down?

Master Sword and More Coming to Super Mario Maker 2

There’s a new update coming to Super Mario Maker 2 that brings many new features, but the big one is the Master Sword power up. This allows you to play as Link, with the sword, shield, bow, bombs, and Pegasus boots.

You’re still playing in the Mario tile set so this isn’t a Zelda-maker mode but it’s definitely a game changer since you can play so differently.

Another big addition is Ninji speedruns. These are Nintendo-made speedrun courses where other players’ runs appear as Ninji. These have a weekly reset timer.

Other changes include the pokey and spike enemies, as well as p-blocks, dash blocks, frozen coins, and snowballs.

So I've been watching the show, and mostly liked it... but I've also not liked it. And after the 4th episode, I think I've finally figured out what it is I don't like. Every episode feels like an full length movie condensed into a 30-40 min show. And since every show has some sort of building/training montage, it shrinks down the amount of actual storytime, making every episode feel rushed and conveniently solved. Without spoiling the 4th episode, it's clear what movie/genre it's based on, and it really needed at least a movie's length to get the full weight of it correct.

But, that said, I *very much* appreciate how different this series is. I've been very vocal about Star Wars/Disney making "cash grab" movies like Solo, so I really should praise them for making something like this. Unfortunately, I'm not really a western fan, so this show isn't perfectly my cup of tea, but I still am glad that it's been made. I'll continue watching it and I'm sure I'll mostly enjoy the rest of this season.

(And it's already shooting it's second season!)

I agree. The Mandalorian first season is good but not quite perfect and after we watch it my wife is often confused and I'm not sure I blame her. They setup characters and then leave them behind. I'm not sure where the show is headed but i'm still in.

Rise of Skywalker First Clip: "They Fly Now"

A bit ago Lucasfilm released the "final trailer" for Rise of the Skywalker that wasn't quite final as they've released other trailers with a few seconds of extra footage and today this FIRST CLIP of the film. It's a 30 second action scene straight out of Rise of Skywalker and doesn't really give up much except that we have possible confirmation on the starting location of the film.

This is a huge spoiler but is 30 seconds cut right out of the film so if you don't want that spoiled don't click play. That said, if you are interested in discussing it do so in the comments.
