Wanted to wish everyone a very Happy Halloween as everyone eats way more candy than they should and hangs out at The Pumpkin Festival in Tale of the White Wyvern! As this spook season is upon us, i'm curious what everyone is playing and watching? I started a play through of Final Fantasy IV on Gameboy Advance which has been a fun way to replay this classic RPG. There are a lot of noticeable changes with the Super Nintendo version and so far, it's nothing too intense but I'm not sure I love all the translation changes they've made.

Playing Tale of the White Wyvern (of course) and Monster Hunter: World. I plan on watching the rest of the extra features bonus disc of Iron Man Blu-Ray I watched the movie (not for the first time) last night and will continue my MCU watch with Iron Man 2.
We ended up both being kinda exhausted and wanting to do nothing so we plopped on the couch with some Mike Flanagan movies. This guy is the master of horror. Gerald's Game and Hush. I can't wait for Doctor Sleep. Even though I've heard it's pretty tame, his character depth is fantastic.

Woah, Woah, Woah, hold your Jedi horses (which also make an appearance in the movie). I think you guys are jumping to conclusions that we see the Emperor in this trailer. It could be classic JJ misdirection.
BTW, no mention of Maz? What about Jar Jar? He is totally going to be a Force Ghost at the end.

Here's how it works:
After your fifth wyvern kill, the five repeat themselves. The 1st and 6th fight are the same, the 2nd and 7th, and so on. But every fifth wyvern kill will get you a paragon coin that you can spend whenever you like. (And not to worry-- if you've beaten the 5th already, you'll retroactively receive one).
Each time you spend one of these paragon coins, you will lose all of your charm and your dead card and be reset back to the starting point of 1 charm and 0 dead card punches. These are things that never reset by default when you start back at level 1, but in order to use these coins, you're cashing them in.
But it's worth it because you get some pretty great perks:
+1 to your player paragon points.
A permanent +5% boost to forest exp gain.
A permanent +5% boost to forest gold find.
A permanent +5% boost to your bank interest.
New titles, up to your third redemption:
First redemption: Prestigious & Prestidigitonium
Second redemption: Demigod & Demigoddess
Third redemption: God & Goddess
These are additive, so on your second redemption you'll have +10% experience gain and gold find, for example.
To redeem these new coins, just pay a visit to Wrymdoor's favorite healer, Helga. She'll perform some secret magic and you'll be gaining experience and gold much faster! Just don't be surprised when Crugg acts like he doesn't know you anymore.
As I said above, you can redeem these whenever you like-- if you want to wait until you get into the later levels before losing your charm, you can do that. If you want to hoard your paragon coins you can do that too. The choice is yours.
We should have Paragon Coins in the game for you to redeem by Wednesday. Prepare yourself for speedy leveling!
If you haven't played Tale of the White Wyvern yet, head over to https://thewhitewyvern.com/ now to play for free!

Cool! I was wondering what would happen after that final kill, since I'm extremely close to accomplishing that now. I think losing all your charm is a bit of a small price to pay, yet it also kind of sucks. I think there shouldn't be any negative outcome for getting that final kill. Although perhaps it's kind of a balancing act so that players don't get too OP. Losing all your charm isn't too bad since we all seem to accumulate so much of it that at a certain point it no longer matters if you end up losing some of it in the forest. So this change kind of puts some polish on the charm stat, I think. When some of us stated how much charm we had, we were around 100-200+. I don't remember how much charm you need for that ultimate NPC interaction, but I'm guessing it's no where near that much. It doesn't take very long to accumulate enough charm to get to that point, but it's very easy to get so much charm that if you lose some in the forest, it's no big deal at all, other than a wasted forest fight.
Anyway, thanks again to you and Jon for making the game and continuing to develop it.

And yeah, youâre right about the reasoning a bit.
Once youâve gone through maybe 18 levels total or so, those lower-charm responses from NPCs just become worthless, and your charm stat effectively doesnât matter. This gives it meaning again, but definitely pays you for taking away your charm.
And you can always choose not to use this if you want to keep that charm, but youâll lose out in the long run. Itâs really a better deal for you than it is Helga. đ

This is a very good question! I feel like it's entertainment. Some people watch TV, I play video games instead. Without video games, I feel lost actually. Playing video games is a bit of a hobby or occupation for me. I can agree with what's said in the video. However, I think there are other pieces that weren't mentioned. I think some people want to feel powerful or challenged. I don't like to be challenged at all, but I do like the feeling of successfully completing a task, even if it's very challenging. Video games can be very frustrating to me, but I learn and improve and that feels good. Video games greatly capture my interest, not just for the games themselves, but also for the the hardware that runs them. I'm not just a video gamer, but I'm also a PC enthusiast. I could easily talk for hours about a single video game. I often look up things about a game I'm playing, especially if it's something I really enjoy or want to find help with. Sometimes, I even enjoy the social aspect of it, like participating in an Early Access community.
So, why do you play games? What does it do for you? What do you like or dislike about games? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section!
I really enjoy films and TV but one downside is they are passive entertainment. I love running because I can take part in where I go, how far I go and such. I view video games in a similar way to running and adding on that I think video games are more replayable and you can, typically spend a bit more time with them.
I've really enjoyed making the switch to making games and have really found a lot of personal value in creating and continuing to improve Tale of the White Wyvern. Making a game is a lot like playing a game about making a game except it's way harder and more rewarding.
All that said, nothing beats kicking back on the couch in the evening with the Switch.

:) Sounds good! I'm sure making a game takes a lot more of your time than playing a game. Just think about it, we waited so long for Terraria's 1.3 update. It came and within 1-3 months, I was done with it. Kind of sad. I can see various ways in which developing and playing a game are similar, both can be frustrating, but also rewarding at times. I think it would be cool to be a part of something like that, but I lack the programming skills. Many Math courses are required along with programming courses in college and I hate Math! So, I felt like programming isn't really for me. I like the easy, basic (no pun intended), stuff, but once it gets more complex, I get frustrated. Still, as I said in my post, I have enjoyed being part of some communities for Early Access games.
I also see video games as a means to escape. I think you're right about films and TV. I don't think they incite brain activity as much as a video game, although I guess that depends on what you're watching.
Again, I think this question of why we play is really a tough one to answer, even though I've been playing video games just about all of my memorable life and I continue to do so. Honestly, I can't even imagine a time in the future where I'm not playing video games. I don't think I'm "addicted" though. When my Alienware PC failed me and I had to wait for new parts to come for my new build, I didn't play any games at all. Instead, I watched YouTube and surprisingly, I didn't even watch videos about video games, I watched videos about PC tech. :)
Thanks for your input and for all you've done to add to the experience of video gaming!

I got MHW this Spring and started playing it this Summer. I can only imagine how people play the game with a keyboard and mouse. I decided early on to use an Xbox controller for the game as I read that it was recommended. Iâve always found Xbox (360 and One) controllers to be very good and easy to use for PC gaming.
You can now pre-order the expansion for $50 on Steam, but you can also get a special bundle thatâs $40. Itâs actually confusing, because it seems the $40 bundle comes with a few extra things along with the pre-order bonus, but is less expensive, while the $50 version only comes with the pre-order bonus. There will be another bundle that will include the base game and the expansion. I think that bundle is coming with the release of the expansion. Now is a good time to buy the base game as itâs on sale. Itâs also a great time to play the game as there is a holiday event going on that contains quests and items that are available for a limited time. These quests usually come back to the game every now and then, but it seems all such quests come back on holiday events like this one. I imagine there will be another similar event in December, though I could be wrong.
The expansion obviously requires the base game, but in order to access it, you have to have at least finished the story mode of the base game. There is plenty of time between now and then to do so. There is also plenty of time to get a lot of things done, like collecting items and materials you will need. Check out the links provide below for details. Iâm also including a playlist that includes weapon tutorials, so you can pick the right one for you.
Iâve already reviewed the base game here on Cheerful Ghost, feel free to check it out. In short, itâs a great game, I like it a lot. Iâm not too keen on the multiplayer aspect, though. I donât really want to play with strangers and I have no friends on Steam that own the game. There are certain quests that were designed for multiplayer in mind, trying to do these by yourself is extremely frustrating. However, I think the game is great, you should definitely check it out. If I had bought this game last year, it would have definitely been my pick for Game of the Year.
Video links: A short video pointing out PC upgrades coming to the game with Iceborne (*edit* some of these are already in the game): https://youtu.be/9PyHePaNodY

I want to do a bit of a followup here. I gave some of these another shot and wanted to share my updated tasting notes. I had gotten overloaded on sweet and some of my reactions were due to that.
The Krispy Kreme Pumpkin Spice Crullers are still divine. Easily the best of the bunch, and something I could eat until I got sick, which to be fair probably wouldn't be that many.
Both the Little Debbie cakes were better than I thought in the episode. I was rinsing between every taste but there must have still been some residuals there, because these are both pretty dang good. The Pumpkin Roll is still too sweet, but I didn't get that weird kick in the back of my mouth.
The pumpkin spice twinkies are FAR better than I thought during the episode. This one must have suffered the most from crossover flavors. Pretty decent overall, still not as good as a regular twinkie
The oatmeal is still bland but not as much as I initially thought. If you're ok with adding some cinnamon or something, go for it.
The M&Ms and Kit-Kats are still abominations and should be cleansed from the planet.

The âfinalâ trailer for Episode IX is out now. I say âfinalâ in quotes because we will surely see more footage in TV spots and international variants.
But here we go, the last major US trailer, and we are about two months out from the filmâs release.
Tickets are available now, and Iâve already got seats for the Friday of release.
Thereâs a lot to unpack here, but Iâll get the discussion started with three things:
1. The scene of the new crew in the Falcon is something Iâve been wanting since TFA.
2. That arrangement of the main theme was sublime.
3. Threepio, you ok?

Real quick fourth thing: I think I spotted the Ghost, right next to the Falcon in the scene with all the ships.
Thoughts: I don't think this was better than the teaser they released during D23. I'm curious about the Emperor stuff and how Kylo and Rey interact as they look like they are more working together than not. That said, in general, i'm not sure what i'm rooting for. I'm not sure what's going on at all and I don't know how this is even set up. Like things are happening and the Emperor, but I don't quite understand any of it and maybe that's a good thing because spoilers. I mean, clearly The Resistance is gathering and there's gonna be a big shootout at the end but I'm not sure what the point is? Maybe I just had some bad food and the grump is setting in, but didn't we have that in Jedi, like the Death Star fight scene and big space battle? Literally this fight is on the same Death Star in water with the Emperor in a chair and Lando is flying around outside đ¤ŁWHAT'S AT THE END FORCE GHOSTS SMILING AT OUR HEROES? đ¤Ł
Ok, i'll tune the cynicism down a tad to say that i'm gonna pre-order this and i'm gonna watch it and my expectation is it's gonna be great and I bet it will be. That said, this trailer isn't getting me there and in the end that's fine because lowering my expectations a bit seems like a good strategy to have a good time watching it.
PS I love you Star Wars, this trailer is neat, it just didn't work for as well as the last D23 teaser, in my opinion that's one of the best cut trailers of all time and they didn't quite get to that with this one.

I think this trailer got me even more interested in the Emperor's part in this movie. It seems he comes face to face with Rey, although we don't see him directly, so maybe he has some other form. We see Kylo and Rey fight each other, but we also see them fighting together. Maybe they're tied together some how beyond just Light vs. Dark sides of the Force.
I want to see this for sure, but I don't think I'm going to do anything extra ordinary to watch it. I'll probably go in December, probably with my son at out local movie place. The local place isn't as bad as it used to be, they got new seats!
I've watched plenty of theories about this whole thing like how the Emperor returns, how that's possible, who are Rey's parents, who is Rey, etc.
I just feel like this movie is going to be pretty bad ass (that's a good thing). Like holy crap, where did that Star Destroyer come from? Has it been sitting in the sea this whole time? Whoa, dude!

I dunno man, the D23 teaser was more a celebration of the saga than a teaser for episode IX. It was neat but forgettable. In fact the dark Rey tease is basically all I can remember. And maybe Rey and Kylo fighting outside the DS? I canât remember if that was in that one or the one before. Or both. But I wanted more from that. I know it was just a teaser but still. This one has built my hype more than any of the other ones honestly.
I mean yeah thereâs going to be a big space fleet battle but it wouldnât feel like Star Wars without a space battle and this is the last one so itâs gotta be huge.
I will say, though, that Iâm still not sure about bringing back DS2 and Palpatine. People say that The Force Awakens kinda undoes the work of the original trilogy and this tears it down even more. BUT Iâm withholding judgment on it until I see it, the explanation could be incredible.
And JJ has said this will close out the story of all nine movies but weâve only gotten hints of the OT plot leaking in, I wonder what the prequel influences and plot threads will be.
But yeah I LOVE that at this point we still canât really piece together any plot. We have no clue whatâs going to happen and thatâs pretty fantastic. And kinda rare for modern movies
This has been my favorite trailer. None of the others has gotten me as excited for the movie as this one had. I can't wait to see how this movie unfolds!
I have theories about what's going to happen, but I don't want to spoil anything, in case I'm right. But I think this movie will fit in nicely with all 8 previous movies (yes, even the prequels!)

Right now, Revenge of the Bird King is NINE CENTS on the Switch. You probably have enough Nintendo coins on your account to buy it with those right now.
Beyond being weird, this is a fun game. The platforming is tricky but satisfying, though it does have its cheap moments. For nine cents you can't lose.

Plus the developer, Joe Modzeleski is really cool, so you are supporting a good dude.
So this is a port/reboot/remix of Super Gunworld 2. It was originally ported to the Vita, then Switch, then PS4. Joe said that the Vita version is the best port due to it being a straight port from one GameMaker Studio platform to another. For the Switch and PS4 versions, he had to port it to GameMaker Studio 2, which introduced some bugs. Since it was mainly a porting exercise, he did not have the time to address these issues.
The Outer Worlds will be with us in just a few days, and we've gotten a final launch trailer to tempt us.

I don't think this trailer really sells what the game is about, but it may set the mood pretty well. There are some gameplay videos out there that give you more of a feel of the flow of the game, like this one from Kotaku: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q9xOtElr6mw

So, I just read a bit of an article that says this game is coming to Steam one year after it releases on other platforms (EGS & Windows Store). This is starting to get annoying. A new game comes out and I have to wait a whole year after it actually releases before I can play it on Steam or buy it from another platform. Damn.
I also want to repeat that this is a really good trailer! I was really impressed by it. I can't say that about the Red Dead Redemption 2 PC trailer that just released. I guess part of it was that this trailer is so good and humorous. This game does remind me of Borderlands. I also kind of felt like "oh another shooter," but then I decided I had to keep in mind that this is probably Fallout: New Vegas (some what) in space.

I like how colorful the game looks. It seems as though it doesn't take 100 hours to finish the game, which I find kind of disappointing (I want good RPGs to be long). But, this seems to be a good game. I'm also really impressed that it's a single player game! I recently thought about that (single player games) as revolutionary (LOL), because too many games now are multiplayer or pretty much require multiple people to complete. I mostly play alone and don't want to play games with strangers. But, that's a gaming rant for another time, some where else, or just for myself. This will probably be the last review I share. I wasn't "sold" on the game at first, but since the release and seeing these reviews, I think it's something I want to check out.

Travis, you need it. Analogue makes some nice devices. I have their Super NT and it is a quality product. I hear the Mega SG is also nice.
Some other features that this has: - It will play all Game Boy Advance games - 3.5", 615 PPI, 1600x1440 LCD. Analogue says that it is 10x the resolution of the original Game Boy. - It has a second FPGA that developers can develop for. I wonder if this means other systems will be ported to it?
Piggy backing on the the success of its previous consoles, this looks like and incredible follow up. I already have two backlit flip GBA handhelds but... this looks so cool. Canât wait to try it out!

I entirely missed that this could also play GBA games. Well, thatâs pretty much it for me, no way Iâm talking myself out of it now.
Playing Tale of the White Wyvern (of course) and Monster Hunter: World. I plan on watching the rest of the extra features bonus disc of Iron Man Blu-Ray I watched the movie (not for the first time) last night and will continue my MCU watch with Iron Man 2.
Wyvern of course! But I may also fire up Rage 2, I kinda forgot there was new DLC our for it that Iâve barely touched.
I may also play some New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe Special Victims Unit: Miami because I started that a while back and never finished.
Maybe some Borderlands 3?
Man, I have too many games that I want to play and not enough time.

Truth.
We watched Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. Not really spooky or anything but there are a lot of people dressing up like characters from history! Dude. Can't wait for Face The Music in 2020!
Dude! Bill and Ted are coming back! Did you know?
Yep.
