Once you redeem the code on your Tale account you can head in game to activate it on your player in-game. One cool thing about Tale of the White Wyvern DLC is that it will work on each Tale game you play. Some parts of the DLC will only redeem once per game like the gold and gems, but you can get the player title on each Tale of the White Wyvern game you play.
Make sure to grab your DLC because the Original Hype pack will only be available to players until October!

Wait a second...Travis said "for 1,500 gold," (see line four of this post) but the screen shows 500. I think you have a typo in this post, Travis, or you owe me 1,000 gold haha.
I think this was already reported on here during the E3 stuff, but it's come more to my attention due to a friend sharing info with me on Facebook. At first, I ignored this news. I thought it was just for the Switch (which I may still get) and I believed that the Steam version was "remastered." But, it seems I was incorrect (please correct me if I'm wrong). I played it a few years ago on Steam and didn't have a problem with it, it looked fine to me. Although, I must admit, I never really complained about the graphics. I know the non-FMV stuff wasn't perfect, but kind of blocky/not smooth, but that never affected the love I have for this game. Apparently the "remake"... Read All

Apparently the "remake" is coming for all (current gen) consoles and on Steam. It might be something I get, I'm not sure, I'll have to wait and see. Hopefully it won't cost very much (I doubt it will).
What do you think about this? Let me know in the comments!
The version currently on Steam is basically just a port with a few QoL features. The graphic upgrades in this remaster are VERY noticeable and help a lot. Much of the original Playstation's library hasn't aged well, and this is a fresh coat of paint that makes it more accessible. I probably don't care one way or the other about it honestly. Remake treatment I'd be more interested in, but while this is very cool, it's not something I really need to enjoy that game. Unless it's crazy cheap. Then maybe

Yeah, I think I feel like you. I absolutely love this game, I don't care if it looks like it did on the PS1, that doesn't change how much I love it. It might be nice to play the remastered version, though. I might check it out, we'll see.

I don't think I have a stronger emotional bond with any game that even comes close to matching the one I have with this game. The music makes my hair stand on end and makes my eyes water. I wonder if I will ever care with how it looks compared to more modern games. It will always have a very special piece of my heart. It certainly brings back now old memories!
I liked something I saw earlier that the remake pretty much puts an end to a funny meme. If you're not familiar with it, you can check it out here: https://memebase.cheezburger.com/tag/final-fantasy-viii I think it's a pretty funny meme actually.

What's the difference between staying at the Inn (which costs $400) and just logging out while in the Town Square? It seems you could save money by doing the latter, but I'm assuming that would leave you vulnerable to attack. It also seems you can attack people who are in the bar? The bartender said you can call someone down and they'll get first hit. Can you clear this up for me?
Personal request: would it be possible to get a custom color scheme? Maybe we could create one in the game. I don't have a problem w/ the color scheme, I'm just curious if it'd be possible to change it to something other than the other included themes.
Also are you going to be sending out the social media hype link and rewards?

It's pretty much as you say. Plus:
* You can only attack people at your level or higher or one below you. So level 5 can attack 5 and up and level 4 but no one level 1-3. * Staying in the Fields (quitting the game normally) makes you able to be attacked by people (with the rules above) * You can pay to stay in the Inn (400 gold * level). This means people have to spend money to Call you Out plus you get one bonus. If you stay in the Inn you always get the first attack(to give the Inn a further bonus). (with same level rules above)
> Personal request: would it be possible to get a custom color scheme? Maybe we could create one in the game. I don't have a problem w/ the color scheme, I'm just curious if it'd be possible to change it to something other than the other included themes.
It's something Travis and I will add to the list. With that, what color scheme are you thinking about?
> Also are you going to be sending out the social media hype link and rewards?
That's going out on the 29th so check back tomorrow for more information on that!
ALSO your Inn stay lasts until you log in next and experience a new day. Then you need to rent another room.

Does staying at the inn regen health?

Thanks for the clarifications. So, if you log out while in town, you're in the fields while logged out?
The color scheme I have in mind is a black background with blue text and purple for the highlights (like the parenthesis "()" surrounding letters/keys to press to activate action). I was surprised and pleased to find out that it's not just a keyboard game, but it's also point and click. :)
No. You can heal at Helga's to pay to regen health. Also you regen health when a new game day hits. Also you have a random chance to regen health in the forest.

> I played my first day, and was totally transported to high school (other than the fact that I was playing on my phone lol).
That's the basis of what I have going on in my head about creating a marketing message. Something like (in a deep voice) take a trip back to 1995, the era of the BBS. Cheerful Ghost brings you a game reminiscent of your favorite BBS games. Come check out Tale of the White Wyvern.
Something like that anyway.

I was leaving the forest and was attacked by something and couldn't run away (I didn't want to anyway). I killed it and now I have -1 fights. :( Will I lose one when they're replenished or will it just refill?
I was having trouble withdrawing all from the bank. It said "enter nothing for all" and I didn't input anything and I withdrew 0, tried again, same thing, was reporting the "bug," tried it again and it worked. Maybe I didn't do it right until the last time.
Oh, ok, now after depositing all w/ the "deposit all" button, I tried to withdraw 800. I typed "800" in the text box. It said I withdrew 0, but that I had 800 on hand. I don't know if there's some kind of bug/discrepancy or I just did something wrong. In the end it works out.

You get all 25 at the new day.

Should be fixed now.

You regen some health, right? I just logged in and I'm missing some health. Although I wasn't sure if I had stayed at the inn when I first wrote this comment, I now know that I did, because I tried to buy a room and it said "no need to pay twice."
Also, I'm sure a new in-game has started, but I only had 1 fight. :( Time is currently 3:35AM EST.

Dude, "esoteric!" I wrote a play in high school for a class project and it was totally esoteric! One of my recent game reviews has an esoteric title. :) (Yes, I did look up the meaning of "esoteric" as I've heard of it before, but didn't remember/know what it meant.) Mostly what I'm talking about are music references.
I'm still finding it humorous that I killed "Red Neck." I feel like I stomped all over his "Don't Tread on Me" flag/license plate.

Half-Minute Hero by dowolf in 23:32 I watched the Half-Minute Hero run the first morning of SGDQ with my family for breakfast. My wife said that the game was so fast you have to have ADD to make sense of it. By it's nature Half-Minute Hero is a game played in thirty second loops and is also made faster by dowolf's expertise. It's a fun run and considering it's played on a PlaystationTV quite novel.
The Legend of Zelda Randomizer by JamEvil and fcoughlin in 53:26 I love randomizer races and this was the first time I've seen one for the original Legend of Zelda. It's a great race by JamEvil and fcoughlin and one of my most anticipated and I wasn't let down. It's quite the nail biter all the way to the end and both player came very close to each other.
Super Mario World Blind Relay Race by One Tile Men and Lunar Magicians in 54:00 A new Kaizo Mario game was made specifically for SGDQ and run blind by two teams One Tile Men and Lunar Magicians. Both teams are flush with the most talented Mario players such as Barbarian, LaserBelch, PangaeaPanga, Dode, grandpoobear, juzcook, GlitchCat7 and NobleTOFU and watching them in action was one of the coolest Speedrun things I've ever seen. A total must watch.
Gauntlet by digshake and Eunos in 16:12 I really enjoy arcade Gauntlet and have played the NES version a handful of times. The NES version isn't easy but I didn't think too much about it as a kid. Speedrunners digshake and Eunos make quick work of it but even say that you shouldn't play it casually as it's fairly impossible to do so. According to them the most fun to be had on Gauntlet is to learn the speedrunning strats and play it that way and if the run is an indicator, it looks like that's true.
Castlevania (DOS) by LoZCardsfan23 in 15:59 Castlevania is one of the most classic games on the NES and one that is run at darn near each GDQ. This year they ran Castlevania DOS, a version I didn't know existed for one of the most unique runs of the summer. A few things to keep in mind, Castlevania DOS only runs at 6 FPS and if there are too many things on the screen gets quite buggy. That said LoZCardsfan23 does a good job running it and has an interesting couch to back him up.

Metal Jesus has a great video on the subject on starting your video game collection in 2019. It's a useful video for people entering the space and also for folks that want to keep collecting and what to look out for that isn't expensive. As I've said the DS is a great system to collect for now and loose NES carts are pretty cheap too. That said if you are collecting for the PS3, XBox, XBox 360 and PS2 there are a ton of games you can get ultra cheap. Lot's of old PS3 and 360 games are selling for a dollar each or less depending so if you want to get a complete collection in box, this seems to be a great time to do that.
One system I've been considering buying for quite some time is the XBox One X. Jesus mentions that it's a great system to play original XBox and 360 games and he doesn't specifically mention this but it also plays 4K Bluray, something I'm quite hip to doing when I get a 4K tv. If you toss in that Apple will be supporting PS4 and XBox One controllers in the upcoming iOS 13 it's an even sweeter deal.
What systems and games have you been collecting for lately? Anything you want a complete collection for? I'm nearly flush on all the Wii U games I wanted and keep adding to my DS library slowly. I have a handful of 3DS games to get yet but after a recent Amazon Prime Day I snacked up a few titles such as Donkey Kong Country Returns for a really great price.

Partnership With Other Players We wanted Tale of the White Wyvern to be a game where people could interact with other players. We enable this through player ladders where everyone can compete on most in game player kills, wyvern kills and more! But competition isnāt the only way to interact with other players as on day one you will be able to have relationships with other players!
Marriage is an interesting feature Iāve long enjoyed in other games and Tale of the White Wyvern will allow players to obtain a in-game legal partnership with another player for a small fee with some pretty interesting daily rewards. When you are in Tale if you enter Calindaās Hof you can send any player that is not currently partnered a proposal if you pay the 300 gold fee. Currently an in-game partnership comes with a few rewards in an extra 2 forest fights and 10 experience point gain per day. Since Tale of the White Wyvern is an open minded high fantasy sword and magic game anyone can marry anyone in-game and the only thing you need is a willing partner and the ability to pay the licensing fee.
Gems As you fight in the forest you have a random chance to earn gems. If you save your gems you can spend them on interesting things in the game such as stat boosts, level upgrades and the ability to spy on other players. Gem Stat Boosts: If you head to Helga's Potions and Healing, you can trade two gems for a permanent stat boost. Depending on your play style you can trade two gems for 1 Strength Point, 1 Defense Point or 3 Hit Points.
Gem Level Upgrades: Each time you level up at Tarbrethās Adventurer Training you get a new level upgrade. Level upgrades give your class abilities more power and can give you a class use point increase depending on your class and level. If you decide you want to upgrade your class level and have 6 gems you can do that in Tarbrethās Adventurer Training. Where to go to obtain the class upgrade for 6 gems depends on your class. If you are Mage you must train at The Magic Room. If you are a Rogue you must speak to Raynard the Fox and if you are a Warrior head to Mead Hall for your upgrade.
Spying on other Players: There is a secret area in the game that all adventurers eventually find where you can spend 2 gems to spy on other players. Each player in Tale of the White Wyvern will have a public profile with information on what noteworthy things that player has done. That said, not all information about each player will be known to everyone so if you want to know what kind of weapon or armor they have and more to scope them out before you attack them in game, you can. You will first need to get to the secret area and spend two gems to find more about the player you want to know about.
Tale of the White Wyvern Will Require a Cheerful Ghost Account to Play If you want to play Tale of the White Wyvern you will need to sign up for a free Cheerful Ghost account. The reason why we are requiring people have a Cheerful Ghost account to play is because we didnāt want to create a bunch of games that had separate authentication to annoy people to remember different usernames and passwords for each game. The cool part is each new game we create can use the same Cheerful Ghost account to make it simple for everyone.
Cheerful Ghost In-Game Member Rewards If you are a Cheerful Ghost Member you will earn special in-game rewards that are special to Members as a thank you for your support. We expect that the in-game rewards will grow over time, but at launch this is what Members will receive:
Two exclusive titles: Ghost Friend and Cheerful Patron.
Access to member only Weapon and Armor sets at King Frosthelmās Weaponry and Asadiās Armor. Members will be able to access the secret back room of the weapon and armor shop to buy and sell exclusive weapon and armor sets. I want to stress that these member exclusive weapons and armor are the exact same cost and power level as the normal weapons and armor. Weāre just providing custom, cosmetic weapons and armor for Cheerful Ghost supporters.
Hey Greg. I'd love to do a midnight launch but we didn't have that in the plan. Mostly likely we will do that for our next game.
We're planning on Noon PT tomorrow. But that said, I'm hoping to push it live before Noon PT tomorrow and if I do i'll post to the site right away about it.
Well. Hereās a post I never expected to be making.
Thereās a new version of Starcraft out right now, thatās been entirely tooned. The new art is done by Carbot, who has gained fame for some pretty hilarious animations based on Blizzard games.
StarCraft: Cartooned re-imagines every unit, structure, map, menu, and mission with the beloved art style of Carbot Animations. Add a whole new look to the epic single player campaign, take the cartooned mayhem online and go head-to-head on the multiplayer ladder, or join your friends for your favorite custom game ā even if they donāt own StarCraft: Cartooned!

I love that Blizzard is still giving the original Starcraft some love, and this looks like a fun way to play it.
The rumors about a new Switch version were true! In September, the Switch Lite will be released.
This new model lives up to its name in many ways
Itās light on price, $100 cheaper.
Itās light on features, as itās portable only, with no TV output.
Itās light on screen real estate, having a slightly smaller screen.
Itās lighter in the literal sense, around 25% weight reduction.
And itās lighter on battery use, as all these add up to less of a power drain.
This sounds like a perfect entry to the Switch family, an entry level system for people who only want to play it on the go, and donāt want to pay $300.

While I donāt do a lot of portable gaming, I could see myself eventually picking up one of these just for some of the local, multi-Switch multiplayer games.
So what do you think? If you already have a Switch, do you want this? If you donāt, is this an enticing entry to Switch gaming?

I could see getting this for my son if there starts to be a competition for Switch time in my family. I think it will be good for families where there is switch time competition and obviously (based on the video) people in space.
It is interesting to see that they dropped HD rumble support. That would have been cool to keep in, but it probably lets them slim down the switch and increase battery life.
As for no TV output, I can understand that, but store clerks better learn the difference. I can see a lot of people seeing the cheaper price, going for this, and not knowing what it lacks.
Are there games that don't support handheld mode? I haven't run into any. Has anybody run into games that don't support it?

Jon, sounds similar to when the original DS came out. They said there were going to be 3 pillars, but we all know what happened to the gameboy.

Can Nintendo release a left joycon with a d-pad? I like that option on the lite.

YES! I would as well. I get why itās not like that, for when youāre playing it sideways. But I would truly love that.
I do wonder if theyāve fixed the joycon drift issues for this model, because itās not like you can just buy some new joycons for this one.
I shared on Facebook and tagged Jon.
DLC code message to you Greg!
Thanks!
Thank you! :)

Wait a second...Travis said "for 1,500 gold," (see line four of this post) but the screen shows 500. I think you have a typo in this post, Travis, or you owe me 1,000 gold haha.
Oh right, thatās a mistake in the post itās supposed to be 500 gold not 1500.
I just retweeted - @rzbreaks twitter account.
Code messaged to you. Thanks Smasher!
"Young Billy" hit me with his "Smashed Pumpkins." LOL I get that one!
